I Became the Only Cure for My Dying Husband - Chapter 25
Chapter 13.1
Every breath he took sent Edith’s nerves on edge, the pounding of her heartbeat drowning out all other sounds.
And finally—
“…Yes, I do.”
His voice was lighter, like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders.
“By these vows, I now pronounce you husband and wife.”
Edith turned to Lucion, her face lighting up with a radiant smile.
“May the blessings of God shine upon your future together.”
Starlight rained down from above.

Edith kept rubbing the spot on her head where the high priest had placed his hand.
“Do I look any different?”
“Why would you?”
Lucion shot her a scolding look, tugging at his cravat and loosening it now that the ceremony was over.
But Edith, having achieved her long-sought goal, was in such high spirits that even his brusque tone sounded like a sweet melody.
Lucion clicked his tongue as her laughter bubbled up uncontrollably, a loopy grin on her face.
“Is it really that big a deal?”
“Of course it is! I’m so happy.”
Edith replied with a shy grin, her joy shining in every part of her.
“Just being next to you, young master, makes me happy.”
Lucion sighed as he turned his head away.
“Don’t go around saying things like that to just anyone.”
“Who else would I say it to besides you, young master? Oh, maybe Father.”
The mention of his father made Lucion cringe visibly, shaking his head like he was dispelling an unpleasant thought.
“Lord Lucion, we’re ready for you,” a priest dressed in white robes called out.
Lucion turned to Edith, narrowing his eyes and giving her a firm warning.
“Don’t wander off. Stay here.”
“Okay.”
Edith agreed, waving him off with a cheerful smile despite him treating her like a child who needed constant supervision.
Left alone in the prayer room, Edith rummaged through her pocket and popped a candy into her mouth.
The sweet flavor spread across her tongue, making her body relax.
‘Today was so exhausting.’
She was sprawled out, staring into space, when the door creaked open.
“You’re back already?”
“Were you waiting for someone, little miss?”
The voice didn’t belong to Lucion.
“Who are you?”
Edith shot to her feet, taking a step back as a dark figure entered the room.
The newcomer was draped head-to-toe in black robes, looking extremely suspicious.
And there wasn’t just one. There were two.
“Master, you’ll scare her if you approach like that.”
“Oh, is that so? My apologies.”
The man immediately apologized and stepped back.
It was hard to tell whether they were good or bad people.
‘There’s no way these are good guys.’
Their outfits alone screamed trouble.
“So, you’re the one who swallowed it?”
“Excuse me?”
“I had my suspicions, but I didn’t expect it to be true.”
The man muttered to himself, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.
“Miss, would you mind returning what you swallowed?”
“…Do you mean this?”
Edith pulled a candy out of her pocket and held it up.
“What’s that supposed to be?”
“Candy.”
She offered him an innocent smile, her eyes darting around the room for an escape route.
‘I need to run.’
Whatever they wanted with her, it didn’t seem like anything good.
“It tastes like strawberry.”
The man blinked at the candy’s cute pink wrapper.
“I’ve got grape flavor too.”
The man glanced between her and the candy, looking thoroughly confused, before bursting into laughter.
“Fascinating. Most people would be terrified by now…”
“Pardon?”
“Oh, nothing. That candy looks delicious. May I have one?”
“Here you go. Take two. You can share with your friend.”
Tap, tap. She placed exactly two candies in his hand, earning her a pat on the head.
“You’re too sweet. May you be blessed for this.”
“Thank you, sir. You too. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have people waiting for me.”
Edith began inching toward the door, trying to act casual, but she didn’t get very far before she was stopped.
“Hold it. Just a second. I still have a few questions.”
The man’s hand shot out, gently grabbing her wrist before she could slip away. He raised his hands in a gesture of peace as her panic rose.
“Edith!”
A hand pulled her shoulder back, and Edith stumbled, her eyes widening as she recognized the figure now standing between her and the strangers.
It was Lucion.
“Well, well, if it isn’t the Young Lord of House Frost! It’s been a while.”
Lucion narrowed his eyes at the man’s overly friendly tone. His presence alone cut through the air like a blade.
“What’s a criminal like you doing here?”
“That’s ancient history. You can call me the Master of the Magic Tower now.”
“Master?”
Hearing this unexpected revelation, Edith tilted her head, trying to discreetly get a better look at the man, but Lucion immediately shifted to block her view.
The Tower Master smirked, amused by Lucion’s protective stance. He looked like a fortress, as if determined not to let even a single strand of her hair be exposed.
