Despite Being an Extra, I'm the Villain's Childhood Friend - Chapter 62.2
Chapter 62.2
“She said she wanted to keep Izel by her side forever, too…”
And yet, she’d conveniently backpedaled, making it seem like he was the only one opposed to Izel’s marriage.
“Monica’s a dummy.”
But a lovable one… He suddenly remembered the time before he met Izeline. Back then, it was just him and Monica.
“Sob…”
“It’s alright. I’m here, Young Master.”
“Mon, Moni-ca… Waaah…”
“It’s okay, it’s okay.”
A lump formed in his throat, and Robert slid down, submerging himself in the water up to his eyes. Then, tears welled up and embarrassed by this unexpected display of emotion, he quickly wiped his eyes.
“What’s wrong with me?”
He was taken aback by the sudden surge of emotion.
“D*mn it.”
He didn’t have time to cry. He couldn’t be late for dinner. Michael would undoubtedly use his absence to charm Izeline with his smooth talk and invite her to go stargazing or some such nonsense.
“I can’t let that happen.”
The tears vanished instantly. Lathering himself with soap, he washed with lightning speed.
Moments later, Robert, hair dripping, hurried towards the dining hall.
* * *
“This is our prime tenderloin steak, sourced from free-range cattle raised on the Irbazan plains. Paired with our signature sauce, it’s an absolute delight.”
“Wow! Imported from so far away! Even after all these years, I still adore this chef.”
Oren applauded the chef’s explanation.
Just then, Robert entered the dining hall. They hadn’t started eating yet; the main course was just being served. He breathed a sigh of relief and sat beside Izeline, his expression grim.
“Teacher. Why are you here?”
Five people were seated around the circular table. Usually, there were only four.
“Why? Is there some reason I shouldn’t be?”
Gerald smirked. He often claimed Izeline needed extra tutoring, using it as an excuse to keep her with him even at night, which often resulted in him joining them for dinner.
Robert frowned.
“She doesn’t need extra lessons. Her attack was powerful enough to go right through that guy’s forehead.”
“Hey, my forehead’s perfectly fine.”
He gestured towards Michael, who grinned, a vein throbbing in his temple. However, seeing Izeline’s apologetic and anxious expression, he quickly reassured her.
“It was excellent. I saw it embedded in that tree trunk.”
“Oh, um…”
“That light arrow could have taken down an orc.”
“It should have taken you down.”
Robert muttered.
Seeing another childish squabble brewing, Izeline quickly intervened.
“The goal was to hit the target with all ten arrows. I do need extra lessons.”
Robert and Michael exclaimed simultaneously.
“No!”
“That’s a ridiculous goal!”
The two boys glared at Gerald, silently pressuring him to lower his expectations. Gerald raised an eyebrow and held up his index finger.
“First, I decide the lesson goals.”
As the boys started to protest, he quickly raised his middle finger and continued.
“Second, I’m not here for extra lessons today.”
“Hmm?”
Oren, who had been cutting a large piece of steak, tilted his head in surprise. He’d been enjoying the unfolding drama, but this unexpected twist piqued his curiosity.
