Becoming the Villain’s Family - Chapter 330
Chapter 330
Those three must have constantly harped about how cruel the world is to Elaina, trying to protect her. Living always in peace, Elaina hadn’t taken those warnings seriously until this experience made her accept them as truth.
‘The shock was greater because she was usually so optimistic.’
So what can be done about this situation now?
‘Make it right.’
Aria conveyed with her eyes. Vincent, feeling the intensity of her gaze as if it could bore a hole through him, stepped forward to follow her silent command.
“If you say everyone but the Valentines, isn’t that a bit too narrow-minded? Let’s include smart people in that category as well…”
Aria quickly covered Vincent’s mouth.
“Mmmph!”
My word is not finished yet! It seemed like he wanted to say that.
If he went on, it would only lead to more needless talk. She decided to handle the situation herself.
“No, Ella. It’s not that all humans are trash, just that one boy was bad.”
“Uung…”
“Wouldn’t it be sad if you hated everyone with brown hair and green eyes just because of that one boy who was mean?”
Aria pointed at Luca.
“Imagine if you had met him before Luca.”
Was she imagining the situation? Luca immediately frowned.
“Then because of Brian’s actions had hurt Ella, Ella might have thought Luca was just as bad because they share the same eye color.”
“Luca not bad.”
“Right? But Ella will never know Luca is not a bad person. Every time you saw his eyes, you’d think of the bad Brian and never get to know him.”
Hating all people just because of one bad experience is the same.
Aria added, stroking the frowning Elaina’s head.
“You’d miss out on the chance to meet good people forever.”
“Humam not all trash?”
“Yes, not all.”
“Then who trash?”
“Hmm…”
That’s a tough question.
There’s no one who walks around with a sign saying, ‘Hello, I’m trash.’ The world is full of people who smile in your face and stab you in the back.
Even that Veronica, who was once a major trouble, appeared as a saint on the surface, and was an example to everyone.
It likely took a while to see the truth. Even in her previous life, she had never noticed it.
It’s not someone else’s story.
There really are people in the world, packed so purely with malice it’s baffling. And there were quite a lot of them.
‘It’s partly my fault this time. I raised Ella like a flower in a greenhouse because I didn’t want her to see the darkness of the world yet.’
Aria hoped Elaina wouldn’t have to experience the same kind of childhood she had. Ideally, she would never know of it, only knowing a beautiful world, just busy running around and playing.
‘But that’s not possible, is it?’
Vincent’s words had some truth.
To prevent something like this from happening again, it was important to teach her that this world is not a paradise.
‘Elaina will get a sense of it as she meets more diverse people…’
Experiencing it firsthand is most effective. Still, as a parent, she didn’t really want to encourage her to meet a lot of trash.
“Ella, can you now read people’s thoughts and memories too?”
“Ung.”
Elaina was excited about her new ability, nodding vigorously. Aria felt proud but also conflicted.
“For now, when you meet people, try talking to them.”
“I learn to talk.”
“Of course, our Ella can do it.”
And?
Elaina looked up at Aria, urging her to continue.
“It’s just what Mom thinks. It might be time for our Elaina to start learning how to use her natural abilities appropriately.”
Like Luca, Aria also felt guilty.
If Elaina hadn’t been holding back on using her abilities while learning to talk, she might have manifested her powers sooner, reading the thoughts and feelings of Brian, the boy.
There would never have been a reason to secretly meet Brian by tearing the scroll. Or perhaps, the meeting might not have happened at all.
But it’s also hard to just say, ‘Read their thoughts if you’re suspicious.’
Having to be suspicious of everyone to read their thoughts and emotions.
Even for Aria, just imagining it was overwhelming. She feared even she would not trust humanity herself.
‘It would definitely be a tremendous burden and stress for a child.’
So, there seemed to be only one thing left to do.
It was time for Elaina to begin learning how to develop and control her natural abilities.
“Sister, Sister!”
Elaina lifted her head. Sliding her sunglasses down to her nose, a little boy, panting with effort, came into view. It was her three-year-old brother, Astin.
“What?”
Elaina asked indifferently.
“Sister no pway? Pway wih me.”
Astin was holding a ball, his big black eyes full of hope beneath his fluffy pink hair that resembled cotton candy.
His eyes were like those of a puppy looking at its owner.
‘Play with me, play with me!’
Even without reading his mind, his intentions were clear, yet Elaina shook her head.
“Go play with the other kids.”
She retreated further into the shade as she answered to escape the summer sun. It felt hot and irritable.
“Evewyone say want to see Sister.”
Looking at the noble children who were gazing at her with sparkling eyes only made her more tired.
Three years old, five years old, seven years old…
Just kids.
Now eight years old herself, Elaina thought bluntly.
‘It seems they haven’t heard about me yet.’
But then again, it was all too obvious what kind of stories these children would have heard at home.
