Becoming the Villain’s Family - Chapter 329
Chapter 329
“Yes, I’m listening. What’s with this Humam?”
“It’s Humam!”
“I understand perfectly. So, it’s Humam then.”
Is he doing this on purpose?
Vincent watched with amusement as Elaina pounded her chest in frustration while Cloud just agreed without understanding. It was almost time to intervene and add his own quip, but the child’s exasperated cuteness was too entertaining to disrupt.
As Vincent chuckled to himself with an almost mischievous uncle-like delight:
“Cheer up, baby.”
Aria, who had recently returned to the Valentine household, didn’t correct him either but cheered earnestly. Lloyd, having extracted a forced leave from the Emperor using the kidnapping as an excuse, added.
“Well, if it’s established as ‘humam’ by the state, that settles it.”
He too seemed to have no intention of correcting the term.
“Hu…ugh.”
After mumbling for a while, Elaina mustered her anger to pronounce correctly.
“Human!”
“Ooh…”
Both Cloud and Vincent applauded in unison.
“She meant ‘human.'”
Did they just realize that?
Elaina briefly appeared triumphant but quickly hardened her expression and said:
“Humans are trash.”
“….Excuse me?”
“Unrecicbible trash, jus waste.”
Everyone instinctively turned to look at Vincent.
Who else could it be but Vincent with that kind of talk?
“It wasn’t me! I’m innocent!”
Elaina, who was taught only proper and kind words, frantically protested her innocence.
“If not you, then who?”
“Vincent. It seems I am reaping the consequences of not correcting her speech when she was young.”
“Sister-in-law, please stop regretting like a parent who has failed in raising their child.”
Though Vincent hadn’t directly taught her, his influence was undeniable.
It was evident. She must have read his memories.
Aria sighed deeply and hugged Elaina.
“Elaina, there are all sorts of people in the world, and just because someone is foolish doesn’t mean you should say such things.”
“No.”
“No?”
“All trash. All, human.”
“…”
“…”
“Elaina?”
What did they just hear?
Everyone began their own little escapade of denial, but it was clear that they hadn’t misheard.
Following the incident, Elaina developed a severe disdain for humanity.
Elaina hadn’t taken Vincent’s words literally. She hadn’t labeled low-intelligence humans as trash.
Rather, overwhelmed by her recent experiences, she had declared all humans trash.
Why such an extreme reaction? Had the shock caused her to become so cynical already? Was it too early for teenage rebellion?
Trying to mitigate the disaster, Vincent first denied her statement.
“Not all humans are trash.”
“Wight… not all.”
Oh, did she regret her outburst?
Elaina corrected herself, after she seemed to have calmed down. However, she hadn’t finished.
“Not all, except Valentines. Other, all trash.”
….Everything except Valentine is trash.
Aria swiftly turned her head.
For a fleeting moment, a look of satisfaction crossed the faces of the three Valentine men present.
Happiness or perhaps pride. They quickly glanced at Aria while pretending otherwise, but the damage was done.
“No, really…”
Aria was flabbergasted.
She saw clearly why Elaina had become infected with such radical thoughts. Lloyd, Vincent, Luca, and possibly Tristan—who wasn’t present—were all likely culprits.
Who had contributed the most to this out of all four was unclear.
“Are you trying to ruin our Ella’s social skills?”
“Well, it’s a misunderstanding.”
Vincent, still under the cloud of an unfair accusation due to Elain’s previous ‘unrecyclable trash, just waste’ comment, responded first.
“Ella is excessively fond of people, so we just warned her to be cautious of everyone except those from the Valentine castle!”
“But the trash comment originated from you, didn’t it?”
“No, that was…”
Vincent’s protest faltered as he trailed off.
“I can’t say it’s not my fault.”
In front of Elaina, who could read emotions, failing to maintain pure thoughts was indeed his fault.
‘Given that Elaina could read emotions, it wasn’t surprising that she might become influenced by emotions too…’
Aria sighed inwardly.
The deep misanthropy of the surrounding adults in the Valentine family. Aria herself wasn’t particularly hateful towards humans, but neither did she overflow with love for humanity.
“Did Lloyd and Luca say similar things to what Vincent said?”
“Well, that’s pretty mild compared to my nephew teaching her how to throw punches.”
Vincent quickly redirected the blame towards Luca.
Luca, grinning at Vincent’s shift of blame, suddenly turned to Lloyd and said.
“Actually, I think the one suffering the most from extreme misanthropy might be Father. Especially since he regained memories of his past life, his disdain for humans has intensified beyond comparison….”
“Nonsense. Are you, a dragon, discussing human disdain in front of humans? To you, humans are nothing more than insignificant creatures.”
“Well, that’s a different category from hatred. Father genuinely doesn’t care whether humans go extinct or not.”
“And you think you’re any different?”
Why were they playing hot potato with blame? Aria sharply cut in.
“Can the three of you quiet down?”
“…..”
“…..”
“…..”
It was clear now why Elaina had suddenly adopted such extreme views.
