Becoming the Villain’s Family - Chapter 279
Chapter 279
Regardless, the other side would likely be completely silent due to the barrier. Even if they could hear anything, it would only be disruptive
“Aria… Alrig… breathe…”
Lloyd’s words were heard intermittently. Aria’s breathing became increasingly labored before growing shallower. The doctor continued to work frantically, spouting incomprehensible jargon and hurriedly pacing around the room.
In this state, Luca found it unbearable.
Aria had been so happy. She was happy she talked about naming her child after the sun, without needing the moon nor the stars.
Luca, too, found himself grappling with the growing significance of the life Aria held.
Elaina.
When the name was etched in his mind, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of wonder about the miracle of life.
‘Monster.’
Everything they were going through now was just for the sake of that monster’s birth.
In a situation where he couldn’t see anything, Luca imagined the monster breaking Aria’s ribs and tearing her apart as it emerged from her stomach.
What if that thing eats his Aria?
‘Did Aria really think everything would be like this when she was about to give birth and she was so happy about it?’
Luca couldn’t fathom it.
Why didn’t Aria’s so-called husband, that human, stop her and protect her from this?
‘Why didn’t he step up and get rid of that monster!’
He’s really someone detestable.
If Aria was no longer of this world because of that, Luca swore he would never forgive that man.
“Please, stay calm. You’re agitating things.”
Vincent scolded and nagged him, who had been loudly knocking on the door.
“Go drink some cold water and get yourself together. No matter what you do, the barrier won’t be broken…..”
Luca instantly transformed into his dragon form. He spread his wings, and took off into the sky.
“…?”
‘What… Why did he do that?’
Vincent stared at the open window, looking bewildered. It seemed like an overreacted response. Maybe that foolish dragon had misunderstood something.
‘Well, if we leave him be, he’ll probably realize and come back on his own.’
The most important thing was to wait patiently for the child’s birth. Vincent decided not to worry too much about Luca for now.
Crack
“Lloyd. If you do this, will it… hu, make a difference that we kicked everyone out? No, right?”
It seemed like she had developed a habit of talking to the unborn child lately. Aria addressed Lloyd in a childish manner while under her breath.
“This.”
It wasn’t intentional at all. All Lloyd had done was watch Aria’s painful expressions and then grip the bedpost tightly.
But that was enough. The bedpost was now crushed into two pieces.
How could they have made something that would fall apart like this?”
“… I’m really sorry for bothering you.”
He muttered as he gently put down the bedpost.
On the other hand, he thought he should probably reprimand the craftsman who had made the furniture in such a mess and had startled Aria.
“…Come here.”
Aria gestured for him to come closer, struggling to catch her breath.
Without hesitation, Lloyd approached her and took her hand firmly.
Aria clenched his hand so tightly that the tendons stood out on her hand. Her nails dug into his palm.
Well, it wasn’t scratch or even itchy. But he felt her pain, when she swallowed her screams and it hurt his heart.
‘Why isn’t the child born yet?’
The words stick in his throat. He couldn’t afford to make her more anxious.
Lloyd wiped the sweat from her forehead with a towel as he spoke.
“You’re doing great, Aria.”
It was the only thing he could say at the moment.
Aria seemed fine at a glance. She wasn’t screaming and was holding on.
‘She was used to enduring the pain.’
Lloyd, however, knew better than anyone that this was far from okay. So he was burning inside too.
She was far from fine at all.
“Ah, I, I can’t… breathe…”
“Aria, you’re alright. Just breathe as the doctor taught you. Okay?”
“I can’t… I can’t…”
Aria’s vision occasionally went black, and her consciousness intermittently wavered.
It felt like moments of dizziness right before fainting, and during those times, Lloyd with a pale face, lightly slapped her cheek to bring her back.
“Please, breathe.”
When it seemed like her vision was about to fade to black, her lips suddenly met something soft and warm.
It was a familiar sensation. Lloyd had pressed his lips against hers, giving her breath.
“Cough, haa, ha.”
Aria opened her almost blacking out eyes, and grasped his hand firmly again. The medical staff rejoiced when they saw her regain consciousness.
“More strength!”
“You’re doing great, you’re doing great!”
“Almost there.”
“Breathe, hee hee hoo.”
“Right, you’re doing well!”
“…..”
It’s not some kind of childrens’ party.
She found it amusing how the medical staff cheered her on while dripping with cold sweat.
She didn’t have the strength to laugh.
Eventually, how much time passed?
She realized she was on the verge of really losing consciousness.
A baby’s cry was heard.
‘Ah.’
Her senses were immediately drawn to it.
‘Baby.’
Her chest tightened.
Aria lifted her gaze and saw a doctor trying to give the baby who was crying softly to Aria’s arms.
“Look, I did say that it was a daughter, didn’t I?”
Lloyd brushed aside Aria’s messy hair and kissed her forehead. With tightly closed eyes, he made a small, whispered prayer.
