Becoming the Villain’s Family - Chapter 278
Chapter 278
“What? What ominous thing are you saying?”
“It was a matter of life!”
Luca grabbed the doorknob again and shook it back and forth.
The door rattled loudly, but it didn’t open or break.
His anxiety reached its peak.
Luca stared at the door in silence, feeling an unsettling atmosphere.
Vincent, who sensed something in the long and eerie silence, spoke up.
“It’s useless. The inside is completely cut off from the outside.”
“Cut off?”
“They’ve put up a very strong barrier. If anyone tries to rampage, Sister-in-law will be worried.”
It seemed like Brother made an accurate judgment after all, seeing him like this. Vincent sighed and added.
“Well, you’re not the only one like this.”
Only now did Luca regain his senses and look around.
In front of the door, there were not only Vincent and Cloud.
Tristan and Sabina were there, too, standing firmly and anxiously watching the sealed door.
Not only that, but the father and three sons from the Duke Angelo family were all standing side by side, looking nervous.
Moreover…. Natalia, who knows when she arrived.
“What are you looking at?”
Dressed in a red suit, she asked sharply.
Beside her, the attendants were simply checking their pocket watches.
Strange. Humans had been gathering like this, and Luca hadn’t noticed until now.
“Huuh…”
At that moment, everyone gathered here shuddered at the same time.
Aria’s stifled moans were heard
“Aria!”
“Keep your composure, kid.”
Then Tristan tapped Luca on the forehead and said.
“Stay back, because running wild will not solve it.”
Luca, who was attacked suddenly, couldn’t react for a moment. But he quickly bared his teeth and bit Tristan’s finger.
“It’s strange how kids always just bite my hand…”
Tristan muttered to himself, rubbing his chin in confusion.
“The very person who said running wild will not solve it did that earlier?”
His eyes were sharp and piercing.
Duke Angelo, like everyone here, was visibly nervous.
“Why are you making a fuss about it, when it’s 90% your fault that the barrier was set up?”
“Hmm?”
“Don’t act innocent! Didn’t you try to threaten the doctor saying you would kill them?”
“Then should I just stand by while my daughter is suffering?”
“You should have stayed put! What would happen if you do something to the only doctor who can help?”
The Duke vividly remembered the look in Tristan’s eyes when Aria briefly lost consciousness due to labor pains.
The clear and unmistakable threat when his gaze was fixed on the doctor.
It sent a chill down his spine.
Fortunately, Sabina had intervened.
“That was just a kindly encouragement to take good care of my child.”
“How does that interpretation mean that if something goes wrong with the daughter, the doctor’s life will go wrong?”
“I won’t kill the doctor.”
“…”
“And how could I have any power over the doctor? I’m just an old, feeble man.”
Tristan hesitated for a moment and then corrected himself. “Grandfather.”
Such things didn’t really matter.
“Well, Your Majesty…”
At that moment, the Emperor’s attendant, who had been staring at the clock hands all along, finally opened his mouth.
“You have an appointment with Count Donta in an hour. Please return soon…”
“Cancel it.”
Natalia firmly said, still glaring at the door.
“I won’t leave until the moment the child is born, and the little deer holds the child, showing a happy smile, and greets me kindly.”
When is that going to be?
“In my opinion, it will take at least two more days…”
“If you say so.”
“Your Majesty.”
“You talk too much.”
The attendant shed tears silently, but Natalia was resolute.
She had been tirelessly trying to rectify the mess that had become of the empire since her recent ascension to the throne. Even though she was incredibly busy, she seemed determined not to yield this time.
No one had intended for this gathering to happen, but the most influential figures of the empire were now in one place.
The Emperor.
Valentine.
Angelo.
Even God’s Guardian.
They all maintained their distance from each other and waited quietly with the same purpose.
A strange silence settled in.
One hour, two hours.
Time kept passing.
Luca hadn’t eaten or done anything for half a day, chewing on his fingernails until they bled.
When his fingers were so torn up that blood flowed down, suddenly, a loud noise echoed.
A sound that shouldn’t be heard in this place.
It sounded like bones snapping.
People who had been flinching at the sound of Aria’s suffering suddenly changed their gaze, but they couldn’t react immediately.
They first doubted their own ears.
‘Why is that sound coming from there?’
They were so tense that they wondered if they were hearing hallucinations.
When they exchanged glances after being lost in thought, suspecting each other when they were usually hostile.
“Hah…”
Then, Aria’s labored breathing.
To Luca’s ears, it sounded like she was wheezing with pain, her voice unable to form a scream.
Was it not only him who heard it this way? The others also had frozen expressions.
After a while, Aria couldn’t bear the pain and screamed, and then her voice, mixed with cries, muttered in a suppressed voice.
“Ugh… Ah, I, I can’t… breathe…”
Everyone had stiff expressions, and even Luca was almost pale. Luca had the most developed hearing among them.
Not being able to see was terrifying.
It felt like something dreadful was happening inside, but there was no way to confirm it.
They had to just listen to the sounds.
Luca pounded on the door in frustration.
