Battle Divorce! - Chapter 13
Chapter 7.1
As expected, I haven’t lost my touch.
The moment she focused, tears began welling up in her eyes. It wasn’t difficult, given she genuinely felt helpless. The reason code name Easy had become an ace at “Clean” wasn’t just because of her assassination skills, it was also her top-notch acting.
“I-I’m so sorry… I can’t do this. I… It’s my first time doing something like this, and I’m just so s-scared…”
As their eyes met, Daisy began sobbing even more pitifully.
“Hic, sniff, sob.”
The playful look on Maxim’s face vanished in an instant, replaced by a serious expression. Looking as if he felt a pang of guilt, he rubbed a hand over his face and offered an apology.
“Haah… I’m sorry, Izzy. I suppose I was acting out of selfishness.”
…Well, I’m glad you realize that now, I guess.
His sudden change of heart came quicker than expected. Daisy suppressed the words she wanted to say and continued to sniffle.
“Don’t worry. I’ll never force you to do anything if you’re afraid.”
“Hic, sniff, I’m sorry…”
“No, no, you did nothing wrong, Izzy. It’s entirely my fault for not being more considerate. Don’t cry.”
To her surprise, Maxim backed down rather easily.
If I’d known tears would work this well, I would’ve used this tactic sooner.
Daisy decided that maybe crying could come in handy in the future.
“To be fair, I’ve been holding back since that day… since the wedding.”
She already knew that. How could she forget the intimidating presence pushing against her lower stomach?
“I rushed to end the war just so I could come back and hold you, Izzy. I was in such a hurry that I became reckless and pushed myself beyond my limits.”
“Hic, sniff.”
“I risked my life rushing into enemy lines. Even stopping to eat felt like a waste of time, so I ate my rations while crushing their heads. Please, believe me.”
…Who slaughters an entire enemy army just because they want to have s*x? His tone sounded sincere, but his words were outrageous.
Maxim pleaded with her to believe him, apologizing sincerely.
Despite the desperate look on his face, his massive erect*on was tenting his robe, almost as if it wanted to break through.
The color drained from Daisy’s face.
As absurd as it was, Maxim von Waldeck was a man in his prime. It made sense for a fierce warrior like him to have an equally formidable s*x drive.
“To think I made you cry…”
Maxim looked genuinely remorseful. Despite his obvious erect*on, he seemed to feel guilty… if only a little. Hesitantly, he gently cradled her cheek in his large hand, his fingers tenderly wiping away her tears as he gazed at her with a hint of sadness.
“But what am I supposed to do if even your tears make you look beautiful?”
…Goodness gracious. He’s completely hopeless.
His lips brushed softly over her cheeks, trailing down until they finally met hers.
‘If this keeps up, we’ll end up in a deep kiss… and then, naturally…’
The moment her thoughts drifted that far, Daisy’s head spun. Panicking, she pushed against Maxim’s collarbone.
“Not even a kiss?”
“No, even a kiss is… sniff, I-I’m not… quite ready yet…”
“But we already kissed at the wedding? Did you not like it then?”
“That time, it just happened so suddenly, and you were so forward that it honestly scared me. That was also… my first kiss ever.”
Daisy lowered her gaze, her eyelashes trembling.
To be honest, that wasn’t “kissing” him. it was more like “being kissed” by him.
Who kisses with tongue inside a church? And with everyone watching, too!
Just thinking about it again made her face flush with embarrassment. As Daisy’s voice started to quiver, Maxim looked visibly conflicted.
“Well, that was my first kiss in this life, too…”
…Is that even supposed to make sense?
For someone’s “first,” he’d been strangely skilled, and his hands even more so. Remembering how he’d undone her bra’s clasp still sent a shiver down her spine.
His first kiss, really? Did he have multiple lives or something?
It was total and utter nonsense.
“Anyway, I apologize. Since we’d already kissed at the wedding, I thought it would be alright to do it again.”
Maxim kept apologizing, looking absolutely crestfallen, like a puppy in the rain. That vulnerable look in his eyes made his apology feel genuine, and as his typically sharp gaze softened, Daisy found herself letting her guard down just a bit.
“As a soldier, I’m mostly around rowdy men, so I don’t fully understand a woman’s feelings. I made a mistake, and I apologize if I startled you.”
“Hic, hic… But y-you… went way too far. Y-you even… used your tongue.”
“Really? I thought I kept it rather short…”
Unbelievable. He had me gasping for air, and he calls that short?
