Chapter 46.1
“Does that even make sense?”
“It does.”
Lucis whispered to her.
“Have we been alone together at all recently?”
Lucis’ words made Leilia pause for a moment. It was true. There hadn’t been a time when she was alone with him.
“And he’s been following you everywhere—not just standing by when we’re together, but constantly joining our conversations.”
“That’s because of work.”
“He’s been sticking around for things that aren’t even necessary.”
Lucis said confidently.
“That can’t be right.”
“Maybe he’s already forgotten his past love and has started to fall for you, Lady Leilia.”
Lucis’ words left Leilia’s mind in turmoil.
First Karin, and now even Lucis, were stepping forward and saying such things.

The party wrapped up smoothly. Everyone left the castle, commenting on how convenient the newly installed warp was. The party, which had started in the early evening, only ended at dawn.
Leilia, a bit tipsy from the alcohol, was being supported by Cassel as they walked to her room.
“I want to sleep in your room tonight.”
Cassel nodded in response.
“You still need to take off your makeup first, so you can’t sleep just yet.”
“I didn’t drink that much.”
“Yes, you did.”
Leilia pursed her lips at his words.
In truth, she knew he was right. Lucis’ words had been weighing on her mind, leaving her thoughts in a tangled mess, and she had ended up drinking more than usual.
‘…Could Cassel really have feelings for me now?’
Even though she knew it wasn’t that simple, she couldn’t stop her lips from curling into a smile. In the past, she would’ve rejected such hope without hesitation. But now, with him being so kind to her, she found herself clinging to it. She knew she should let it go, but she couldn’t.
If it turned out to be nothing, her heart would surely crash.
‘I don’t know anymore.’
With a sigh, she reached Cassel’s room.
Leilia was lying in his bed when Cassel called for Seychelle.
“Are you drunk?”
“Ung.”
Cassel said he would wash up in another room, leaving Leilia to freshen up in his. After removing her makeup and changing into her pajamas, she called out to Seychelle just as she was about to leave.
“Bring me another bottle of wine.”
It seemed better to just fall asleep drunk like this.
Seychelle hesitated for a moment but eventually left a bottle of wine behind.
Leilia quickly uncorked it and poured herself a glass. The rich aroma of red wine filled the air as it flowed into the glass.
‘If I drink this, I might actually fall asleep!’
That was reason enough to drink it. As she took a sip, the sweetness washed over her. Even though she had chosen it herself, it really was truly a delicious wine.
As the alcohol settled in, her mood lifted, and a flicker of hope began to hum inside her.
‘Ahhhh…’
Just then, the door opened, and Cassel walked in.
“Leilia?”
He looked at her, glass in hand.
“Cassel, have some with me.”
“You’re already drunk enough.”
“I’m not going to sleep.”
“How is that even possible?”
He shook his head.
‘Whose fault does he think this is?’
Wasn’t it because her husband kept acting so confusingly?
“Really.”
Cassel quickly sat down beside her.
“Lucis is leaving tomorrow. You’re the one who sent him off to handle business in the capital, right? Shouldn’t you see him off?”
“I don’t need to. I already told him earlier to have a safe trip.”
“Is that so?”
“Were you planning to stay by my side then, too?”
In the end, Leilia decided to ask. She knew very well that if she didn’t, this feeling wouldn’t go away.
“What do you mean by that?”
Cassel stumbled over his words as if something was bothering him.
“I mean, you’ve always been around whenever Lucis and I are working together. Even when you didn’t need to be.”
Leilia narrowed her eyes at him.
“Isn’t that kind of suspicious?”
Cassel stayed quiet at her remark. Instead, he picked up the wine glass she had been drinking from and took a sip.
“Is that not allowed?”
He asked, sounding serious.
“What do you mean by ‘not allowed’?”
“I’m asking if it’s not okay for me to be around when you’re with Lucis.”
“That’s not what I meant.”
It wasn’t like she had any secrets to hide from her husband.
At her response, Cassel bit his lip.
“Leilia is close with Lucis.”
“He’s my subordinate.”
“It’s not just that. He’s also a man.”
“Huh? Lucis, a man? That’s ridiculous.”
“He’s a man.”
Cassel repeated firmly.
His firm tone left Leilia a bit shaken. She had asked just in case, but…
‘Was Lucis really telling the truth?’
Her eyes widened in surprise.
“It’s not that I didn’t want you to know, but I didn’t think you’d realize it either.”
Cassel frowned.
“So, Lucis must have told you.”
“That’s right.”
“Yes, I stayed close because I didn’t like the two of you being alone together.”
He answered bluntly.
