Chapter 45.1
“It’s difficult to completely cut off my relationship with my father.”
Leilia was right.
Lucis glanced at the budget, looking slightly disappointed.
“And besides, isn’t life more interesting when you have secrets? If I had too much, there would be plenty of people who’d never show me their true selves.”
“I agree with you, Lady Leilia!”
“It’s not such a mess anymore, right?”
“Let’s just say that’s the case.”
“What do you mean?”
“Think about what you might wear, or the things in the treasure vault.”
Lucis felt a bit frustrated that she still couldn’t take out the items in the treasure vault. Hearing this, Leilia grumbled and looked over at Cassel.
“There’s even an accessory in there I bought for Cassel. It’s a necklace, and it’s really beautiful.”
Cassel asked quietly.
“Was it made by humans?”
“No, it wasn’t.”
Which meant it had been crafted by another race, making it incredibly valuable.
“I’ll wear it.”
Cassel didn’t seem the least bit burdened or inclined to refuse.
“If it’s something from my wife, I’ll gladly accept it.”
With those somewhat thoughtful words, he gazed at both Lucis and Leilia.
Lucis, once again, carefully observed the scene.

The day of the banquet had finally arrived.
Lucis, who had retrieved the treasures from Leilia’s vault, entered the castle through the warp. The chest was, of course, placed in Leilia’s chambers—the duchess’s quarters.
Leilia opened the chest while chatting with Seychelle.
“This will look perfect on Cassel.”
What Leilia pulled out was a necklace with a circular pendant, featuring a blue butterfly in the center. It was an item commissioned long ago by the prince of the Roten Empire from a dwarf. Since the blue butterfly was the imperial family’s crest, which commoners weren’t allowed to use, the necklace had remained in storage until Leilia bought it through an agent after hearing that the previous owner was in need of money.
“It will suit His Highness Cassel very well.”
“Don’t you think?”
Leilia smiled, hoping he would be pleased with the gift.
She then turned her attention to the dress she would wear. The luxurious fabric, intricate embroidery, and sparkling jewels made it breathtaking every time she looked at it.
“I usually wear a more modest style.”
But this was a banquet, after all. She wanted to wear something with a plunging neckline and a tight waist—after all, that was the current fashion trend.
“This one seems to suit you.”
The dress Seychelle had picked out was a light sky blue. It had a subtle V-shaped cut in the back, with a delicate V-neck in the front. The waist was cinched, and the dress flowed elegantly down to her ankles.
“Hmm.”
The design was inspired by a princess from long ago, making it quite a popular style. Leilia had added her own touch to make it unique.
“Alright.”
Leilia decided on the dress. Although Cassel would probably grumble about how much of her back and front were exposed, she chose not to worry about that for now.
With the dress chosen, all that remained was to get ready.
“Cassel should have received his outfit by now.”
He asked her not to buy him any clothes this time, saying that she had already given him a lot of clothes before. However, she couldn’t just leave it at that, so she sent him the necklace instead. She hoped he would like it.
With excitement building in her heart, she prepared for the party.

Aldrin, a woman with green hair and blue eyes, had long served as one of the vassals of the Balkan estate. After the estate became part of the imperial territory, she quietly lived as a countess. However, with Cassel becoming the Duke of Balkan, she returned to her role as a vassal.
“They actually installed the warp.”
As Calia entered the banquet hall with a drink in hand, commenting on the news, Zen quickly chimed in.
“It’s great! Now we can get to the capital much faster!”
The banquet was being held to celebrate the completion of the warp. All of the Duke’s attendants and vassals had been invited, and since they would now be serving Cassel, they took the opportunity to introduce themselves to one another.
Aldrin approached Calia and struck up a conversation.
“Hello.”
“Oh, I remember seeing you before!”
“I’m Aldrin Kuhen.”
“Yes, that’s right, you’re Countess Kuhen, aren’t you?”
Calia welcomed her with a smile. Aldrin returned the smile as well.
“I heard your family has lived in this region for generations.”
Calia’s memory was spot on.
“That’s right. I didn’t think the Balkan duchy would ever be restored.”
Despite being named the Duke of Balkan, Cassel still retained the surname Roten. The Emperor had decreed that only Cassel’s son would bear the Balkan name, reinforcing that he remained part of the imperial family. Thus, even as a duke, people still addressed him as ‘Your Highness,’ a title typically reserved for princes.
