Chapter 39.2
“Well, we know their substantial financial power very well.”
Zen clicked his tongue as he recalled what he had received during the war.
Once inside the restaurant, they had their meal.
After enjoying a delicious lunch, Cassel and Leilia took a short walk together. His subordinates also followed Cassel, strolling through the small park. They went to a secluded spot off the beaten path, spread out a blanket, and rested for a while. Since the carriage was so fast, they felt they could easily arrive well within the designated date.
Leilia and Cassel, sitting on the blanket, held hands and looked up at the sky. The sky was obscured by trees, but they could still see glimpses of blue.
“I wish it would stay peaceful like this forever.”
As Leilia narrowed her eyes, Cassel stroked her cheek and whispered.
“I feel the same way.”
After saying that, he gently touched Leilia’s hair before he continued his words in an eerily calm voice.
“It seems there are assassins.”
“Yes?”
“There are about ten people approaching, so we might have a fight here.”
It was such a secluded place, and she didn’t feel any threatening presence at all, yet he could already sense someone approaching this place.
“Close your eyes and think of something nice. Cover your ears with your hands.”
As Cassel whispered to Leilia, she followed his words as she closed her eyes and covered her ears.
“Everyone, draw your swords!”
Zen and Calia, who had been resting, stood up at his command. As they prepared for battle, the hidden assassins revealed themselves.
“I thought we were perfectly hidden.”
They shook their heads from side to side and shouted at Cassel.
“You’re quite skilled, Your Highness Cassel, to find us.”
The assassins spoke in such a manner.
“Who sent you?”
“Why don’t you think about that in the afterlife?”
With that statement, the assassins simultaneously attacked his subordinates and him at the same time as Cassel drew his sword to block their attacks in an instant. Concerned for Leilia’s safety, his subordinates also fought to protect her.
Leilia closed her eyes.
The sound of swords clashing echoed.
Cassel was a Sword Master. However, he didn’t yet have a sword capable of withstanding the aura of a sword master. Therefore, if he used the aura incorrectly, the sword could break.
But then, a strong wind blew.
“What?! What’s this?!”
The assassins sounded startled.
Leilia opened her eyes and looked towards where the wind was blowing. As if riding on the wind, a woman stood with her hair fluttering. Her golden hair and golden eyes easily left an impression.
“Assassins in broad daylight, how uncouth.”
The familiar voice reminded Leilia of the dragon who had come to visit her mother when she was young.
“Karin!”
Karin waved her hand happily at the sound of Leilia’s voice.
“It’s been a while, Leilia. You’ve grown a lot. By the way, where’s Joel?”
“I’m right here.”
Joel waved from behind.
“It’s been a while, Lady Leilia.”
He greeted her.
“Karin, please kill them quickly.”
“Who?”
“The assassins.”
“You kill them.”
“I don’t want to kill people with the hands that make desserts.”
The assassins were taken aback. Although they were boasting about their skills, someone was casually suggesting they kill them without any hesitation like this.
“Then, kill them, silver-haired human.”
Karin smirked.
“Show me your skills.”
She seemed to recognize that Cassel was a sword master at a glance.
“The sword won’t hold up.”
“You can throw away the sword.”
“I received it as a gift.”
Karin remained silent for a moment at his words.
“Is that so?”
She scratched her head.
“We’ll handle it ourselves, so just watch.”
Zen stepped forward and shouted. They had encountered more skilled people on the battlefield than this, so they could easily handle them.
All of a sudden, something gathered around Cassel’s sword.
“Try it. The sword won’t break.”
Hearing Karin’s words, Cassel glanced at her for a moment.
“She’s a dragon.”
Cassel nodded at Leilia’s words, realizing Karin’s identity.
“What?”
“What did you say?”
In the meanwhile, the assassin and his subordinates were surprised to hear her words. A dragon appearing and not passing by an assassination scene was unheard of. If a dragon had no connection to a human, even if a murder occurred, they would just pass by.
But the fact that one was here?!
“Let’s run away!”
The assassins quickly retreated. Naturally, no matter how strong a human may be, they couldn’t win if a dragon intervened. Joel chuckled at the quickness of the assassins’ actions.
“It seems Karin scared them.”
“What did I do? I’ve only shared a sword with a really scary man.”
“Humans don’t know very well.”
After saying that, Joel smiled at the people looking at them.
“Hello. I’m Joel, and I serve as the butler to Karin, the Dragon Lord.”
She wasn’t just a dragon, she was a dragon lord.
