Lisseltz thought of Leilia today.
Her flowing brown hair still reached down to her waist, and her neat face seemed to grasp the essence of the world. She wasn’t conventionally beautiful. However, she had a charm that made people turn around, and she was more noble and smarter than anyone during her time at the academy.
She was a woman who didn’t belong to anyone.
All the princes all knew Leilia. It was natural, considering she attended the academy alongside them, and they had watched her from afar.
“I’ve always wanted to hug her once.”
He wanted to see her haughtiness crumble.
As he called for a servant, his attendant, Zinnet, bowed his head and turned towards Lisseltz.
“Are you ready?”
“Of course.”
“We’ll assassinate them at the passage to the territory.”
His brother should’ve died on the battlefield. If that had happened, Leilia wouldn’t have had to die.
Zinnet bowed his head at his words.
This incident wasn’t something he had unilaterally orchestrated. All of his younger siblings, whom he considered enemies, decided to join forces to get rid of Cassel. It seemed like it would be safer to get rid of him before he grew any stronger and before he could expand his influence.
‘There have been many instances of princes returning from the battlefield only to die quietly.’
Lisseltz licked his lips.
“You wouldn’t have died if you had become my woman.”
He whispered to Leilia.
The night passed like that.
- Karin, the Dragon
Leilia and Cassel were strolling through the garden. Leilia, who was admiring the small flowers, crouched down and brought the flower close to her nose as if trying to smell its scent. The fragrance washed over her like tiny waves as it brushed against the tip of her nose.
“It smells good.”
Hearing her words, Cassel also sat down and smelled the scent.
“I see.”
After saying so, he quickly whispered in her ear.
“I like Leilia’s scent better.”
“Cassel!”
‘No, to just suddenly come closer like that…!’
She was embarrassed.
Cassel smiled at the sight of her like that before he stood up, helping her to her feet. Leilia took his hand and stood up. However, he pulled her in, and she ended up in his arms due to the recoil.
“You have to smell the scent.”
After saying that, he buried his nose against her forehead. Her heart fluttered as he breathed in her scent,
“Why are you saying things like this?”
Leilia grumbled.
“Are you fluttered?”
She nodded her head at his subtle words.
“It’s natural since my husband says that.”
It was even more so with Cassel.
Her heart had nowhere else to go.
“Lucis will be here this afternoon. Does Cassel have anything to talk to him about?”
“There is.”
Leilia nodded at his words.
Even though she was very upset that he had been given Balkan as the duke’s territory, Cassel was acting as if nothing had happened.
Still, the Emperor had nothing more to bother him with. Cassel didn’t consider him to be his father. No matter how much the Emperor tried to be good to him, if it didn’t align with his own wishes, he would refuse. The lines were as sharp and clear as a sword.
“What are you thinking about?”
And whenever she was lost in thought, he seemed to know it like a ghost. Leilia quickly tucked her hair behind her ear and spoke.
“I’m thinking about my husband.”
“Hm, what kind of thoughts?”
“I just thought Cassel had a clear line.”
Upon hearing that, Cassel walked slowly with Leilia by his side.
“Does that make you uncomfortable?”
“No, quite the opposite. It’s comfortable because it’s easy to learn about Cassel.”
As she quickly shook her head, he listened to her words and kissed the back of her hand as he held it.
“Leilia is kind.”
“Me?”
“I felt your kindness so much on the battlefield.”
When he said this, something warm surged from her heart.
“And you have a lot of patience.”
“That’s…”
That was what living through her life made her become.
“It doesn’t have to be long in bed.”
Leilia glanced at him at his subtle remark.
“Well, fortunately, your patience doesn’t have to be long in bed, so I’m relieved.”
Last night, she begged him to hold her a little longer in his arms. She remembered the words she had said when she climbed on top of his lower body and lowered her head.
‘I’m crazy.’
She couldn’t overcome the pleasure and just blurted out.
“I haven’t lost my senses like that often.”
Leilia spoke softly.
It was difficult because when she received his love, she kept asking for more. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to show it to him, though she was embarrassed. He probably didn’t love her yet, so she didn’t know if this feeling might be burdensome for him.
She stared at him silently.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“How do I look?”
“You have sad eyes.”
‘…Is that so.’
Cassel sighed as he kissed the corner of her eyes as his words ended.
“I’m happy when I’m with Leilia.”
He was here because he liked being by her side.
Leilia suppressed her anxious feelings. She smiled softly, thinking that even if he didn’t love her, she decided to put meaning in his choice by choosing her.
