After I Died, He Died After Me Too - Chapter 8
Chapter 4.2
Even if she had awakened belatedly, the Astri family only produced low-grade Guides, so she was likely to be no different.
She scanned her surroundings slowly.
When she was an Esper, the pheromones emitted by the Guides were enchanting. She wanted to be a little closer to the sweet scent of the Guides. She even had a strong urge to touch them, but Bianca didn’t cross the line with Mikhail, her Guide. She didn’t even imprint and only received the guiding she needed.
So, while she couldn’t receive guiding from anyone other than Mikhail, he could guide others.
She didn’t like the idea of monopolizing someone because it felt like she was treating them as an object. Because of that, she was cautious, afraid that she might inadvertently develop other feelings… No, there seemed to be a more important reason than that. But for some reason, she couldn’t think of it, but the feeling of frustration.
She didn’t realize this when she was an Esper, but she felt like she knew why a Guide wouldn’t mind giving an Esper guiding.
Bianca furrowed her brows as she suddenly felt a headache. The hazy fog didn’t seem to dissipate.
‘Something… a memory. Uht.’
As she tried to concentrate, her vision blurred, and she was flooded with pheromones. The otherworldly sweet scent and the pheromones seemed to incessantly pull her.
‘I need to calm down.’
The more her emotions fluctuate, the more pheromones would be emitted. In a place where many Espers and Guides were present, she could easily become a target here.
Bianca slowly exhaled, steadying the waves of her body.
In the meantime, the Crown Prince had ascended the dais. The Emperor expressed his gratitude to those present and continued his speech eloquently. In truth, she couldn’t properly hear the Emperor’s speech. Bianca was simply focused on the changes in her own body.
‘It’s dangerous here.’
Though it was somewhat hasty, she knew she had to leave once the Emperor was done speaking. If she had awakened, it was dangerous for her to be here, where there were many Espers. Furthermore, since she had just awakened, it was difficult to control herself.
“Bianca.”
Asilian, noticing her complexion, approached.
“Your complexion doesn’t look well.”
Guides wouldn’t recognize each other. Espers and Guides could recognize each other immediately, but Asilian was a Guide.
Most of them were registered with the imperial family, so it was rare for someone not to know about the people who became Guides and Espers. It wasn’t hard to recognize them, except for those who had just awakened like now.
Seeing that Asilian didn’t seem to notice her changes, it seemed she had awakened as a Guide.
‘I’m… a Guide?’
She was accustomed to life as an Esper, but she never thought she would be in a situation where she would have to guide someone.
“Bianca?”
Asilian placed his hand on Bianca’s forehead with a dumbfounded face.
“It looks like you’re running a fever. How about going to a private room and getting some rest?”
“It would be better to do as Brother says.”
Bianca hid behind Asilian since it would be troublesome if any Espers in the banquet hall noticed her. The two of them walked cautiously towards the door to leave the banquet hall.
Just before they opened the door and walked out, someone shouted her brother’s name.
“Asilian!”
Then, the man grabbed his shoulder and took a deep breath. Bianca calmed her fluttering heart and adjusted her waves to prevent them from spreading.
“Young Duke Carver? Is there something urgent?”
“Ah… Is the person next to you, by any chance, your sister?”
Young Duke Carver. He was an Esper registered to the imperial family. Although he wasn’t a high-ranking Esper, he belonged to the imperial family.
Bianca instinctively shrunk her body. Young Duke Carver glanced at Asilian as if he wanted to be introduced to her.
“I’m sorry, Young Duke, but my sister isn’t feeling well. I think I’ll have to introduce her to you another time.”
At Asilian’s words, Carversucked in a breath and whispered, his tongue curling over his lips.
“Perhaps your sister is also a Guide?”
“Yes? No, she’s not. Bianca didn’t awaken.”
Asilian shook his head in response to his words.
“Well, she wasn’t even on the registration list. But…”
Bianca shuddered as Carver’s gaze swept over her body. His unpleasant stare didn’t waver from her.
“…Brother.”
When she called Asilian once more, he finally bowed with courtesy and addressed Young Duke Caver.
“Forgive me for leaving first.”
“Well, I’m sure there will be plenty of opportunities. I hope you’ll introduce her next time.”
Asilian nodded.
Bianca, who had finally left the banquet hall, breathed a sigh of relief.
“It’s strange. Young Duke Caver usually isn’t interested in anything other than Guides.”
“I have something to tell you.”
“Something to tell me?”
Asilian’s eyes flickered at Bianca’s sudden change in tone.
