When the Villainess Died, the Male Lead Went Crazy - Chapter 80
“What?”
Lilith stood up slowly. She looked down at him as if gauging his reaction before speaking.
“You want to save Lady Anais, right?”
Kylian got up and glared at her. It seemed impossible, but he couldn’t discard even the tiniest glimmer of hope. He kept failing to die anyway. If he could save Anais, he was willing to do anything.
“Can you swear to the Goddess Julias?”
“Yes, I can swear to Goddess Julias to save Lady Anais.”
Lilith gave a calm affirmation and gazed at Kylian. Without realizing it, the words blurted out from his lips.
“What should I do?”
“First, it would be better if you put on some proper clothing.”
He realized that he had been completely distracted by her words. But he wasn’t embarrassed. It was nothing compared to what he was about to do.
“Say it again. This time, swear with your life on the line.”
Lilith heard his words and answered with an even more composed expression.
“Yes. I swear.”
Kylian knew that priests did not lightly swear by the name of the gods. If she was willing to stake her life, it must be an undeniable truth.
“Can you save her? Really?”
“Yes.”
Kylian accepted the three volumes of Anais’s diary that she handed him.
“Read this first.”
He couldn’t refuse. If he could save only Anais, he could do anything.
“When you’ve finished reading, call for me.”
Lilith left the room like that. Kylian found her consistently strange behavior suspicious, but he couldn’t reject her offer.
If he could save only Anais, he felt he could memorize the entire diary given to him.

Kylian remained sober for the first time after a long time and started reading Anais’s diary. The words, read after a long time, didn’t come easily to his eyes.
It had been over a year since Anais died. It had been over a year since he last saw her writing.
But this diary was like a clue to saving Anais. He bit his lip and fixed his gaze on the diary.

Kylian is a strange person. When I greeted him with ‘hi’, he greeted me back twice.
He’s just so cute, and I was happy that he came here. I was also glad that he looked so much like the Kylian I knew. ]
Almost every day, there were short but dense entries in the diary.
He calmly read through all of the diary entries.

After our engagement ceremony, Kylian started using honorifics as if he wanted to keep his distance from me.
It felt strange. I still couldn’t let go of the desire to be the closest person to Kylian.
Even though I knew that someone else was destined for him.
Thinking back to how he looked at me and smiled at the engagement ceremony, my heart feels odd. ]
He thought that Anais’s thoughts about him and his thoughts about Anais were similar.

I caught Lewarren Iphigenia. Who would have thought he’d become a thief.
But since he’s captured, it’s all right. He has become Kylian’s dependable ally.
Even if I have to leave Kylian’s side, I now have someone to trust and rely on. ]

I finally rescued Lilith. I’ve been trying to rescue her since last year, and today was the day I succeeded.
She seemed very surprised to see me but tearfully thanked me.
It pained me to see her in that state. I felt sorry that Lilith had suffered because of the future I changed.
Still, she will be happy with Kylian.
The moment I saw Lilith, I realized she was truly Kylian’s destined partner.
Lilith’s cheerful smile, the graceful curve of her lips, and her affectionate yet mysterious purple eyes.
She was radiant as if she embodied all the beauty I desired.
So, I felt a little jealous. Shamefully, I envied her, who would become Kylian’s destined partner. ]
Excluding the gap in her diary due to her kidnapping, Anais clearly started writing again. When he reached the last volume, the handwriting had changed. Kylian knew that her handwriting changed whenever she was under pressure.
Anais’s handwriting was elegant and neat. But at some point, the strokes became shorter, and sometimes they were interrupted. It was evidence that she was under some kind of pressure.

I was rescued by Father’s men, not Kylian. I was grateful that Father came to save me, but I couldn’t shake off the sadness that Kylian went to Lilith first, not me.
Why am I so selfish? ]
“Anais, I want to talk to you.”
Kylian’s words at that time seemed ridiculous. He had thought he should save the families of the kidnappers to become more like the righteous Anais. But in the end, she was there.
His desire for strength and an upright heart was a struggle meant to please her.
The fate of the kidnappers’ families didn’t matter anymore. If they hadn’t made their way into this world, Anais wouldn’t have been kidnapped. In that case, their families deserved to die too.

The wedding has been postponed.
I was slightly surprised by the changes from the future I know. Of course, it was bad news, but there was also good news.
Someone continued to help rescue the families of the kidnappers. I wondered who it could be, and it turned out to be Kylian. At first, I only suspected, but I realized that no one but Kylian would do such a thing. It made me both proud and sad to confront it.
It’s clear that he is not the right person for me.
The person who suits him well is Lilith. Because he also shines like a light in this world. ]
