When the Villainess Died, the Male Lead Went Crazy - Chapter 152.2
“I feel the same, Kylian.”
Now, she could softly smile and agree with his words.
The opera soon began. Anais took Kylian’s hand and comfortably settled into her seat in the palace’s performance hall.
There were only two spectators, and no more than a minimal guard was present.
Kylian, being one of the strongest people, always traveled with just a few guards, but today, he wanted to be alone with Anais, so he had even dismissed them. However, he had left a few attendants at a distance, just far enough not to disturb the opera.
The opera singer came out and began to sing.
Anais suddenly thought the singer’s face looked familiar.
“The singer performing now is Evangeline. I heard she was the slave the Wife rescued when you were younger.”
“Ah, that Evangeline.”
Anais remembered nearly all of the slaves she had saved. She had rescued many hidden slaves while searching for Lilith.
Moreover, Anais didn’t just save them. She ensured they had settled into their new lives before finally letting go of them, showing how deeply she cared about helping them.
“Last I remember, she wanted to become a perfumer.”
“She worked as an aide to a perfumer before becoming a singer.”
“Ah.”
“Apparently, while cleaning, she sang, and the director of a theater troupe passing by heard her and encouraged her to pursue singing.”
Anais smiled softly at the story. Evangeline, singing while looking at Anais, flashed a bright smile, and Anais returned her smile.
With her powerful voice resonating through the hall, Anais was sure she was a truly talented singer and focused on the song.
Just then, Anais spoke.
“I’m so hungry.”
Kylian gestured, and the attendant immediately understood, quickly retreating behind the performance hall.
Less than five minutes later, a simple, easy-to-eat dish was brought out.
Anais took the parfait in a crystal glass and began eating it with a long teaspoon. It was topped with whipped cream, which she savored as though it was incredibly delicious. By the time she finished the biscuit and chocolate at the bottom, the opera was entering its second act.
“Give me more.”
“Yes.”
Kylian gestured to the attendant once again.
Soon, the attendant took the parfait glass Anais was holding and retreated. In less than five minutes, a larger parfait with a different flavor was handed to Anais.
Anais, absentmindedly watching the opera, began eating the new parfait.
By the time she finished it, the second act was halfway through.
“I want more.”
“Wife? It seems like you’re overeating. Are you alright?”
“I said I want more.”
Anais said sharply, her brow furrowing in a way that made her seem almost fierce. Kylian, flustered, took her glass from her.
He was torn. If he told Anais to stop now, she would get angry with him again. Of course, even her anger was beautiful.
But Kylian wanted Anais to only feel positive emotions moving forward. Emotions like happiness and love.
And, perhaps selfishly, he hoped those feelings would be sparked by him.
His only concern was that overeating might not be good for her body.
“This is the last one. I’m worried about you overeating.”
“Fine.”
Anais agreed cheerfully, and Kylian, relieved, handed the glass to the attendant with a gesture.
This time, instead of parfait, macaroons were brought out on a plate. Anais’s face lit up as she bit into one of the beautifully arranged treats. As she ate, some of the cream got on her cheek, and Kylian, with a happy expression, gently wiped it off with his hand.
Anais kept her focus on the opera, even while eating.
In the dim light, Kylian thought Anais shone brighter than the chandelier. She was watching the opera singers with eyes full of light, and her expression was so cute.
He couldn’t help but smile as he watched her enjoy herself. His heart raced, and he committed every detail of her beauty to memory.
At that moment, the lights flickered, and the third act of the opera began.
Instead of the warm orange lighting from earlier, the stage was bathed in a pale blue, as if underwater. Anais’s eyes reflected the blue light, sparkling like the depths of the ocean.
Wait, sparkling? Kylian froze, staring at her eyes.
“Huwaah…!”
“Wife?”
“What is this?!”
He was suddenly taken aback by her tears. Anais was crying and shouting.
“How could you not recognize me just because I look different?!”
“No, I… Wife.”
“Kylian…! Why didn’t you recognize it? Why are you showing me an opera like this?!”
Anais pounded her fists on his shoulder as she cried. Kylian, taken completely by surprise, hadn’t known the opera would have such a storyline.
“I’m sorry, Wife. Anais, please calm down…”
“Huwaa! I hate everything!”
Seeing Anais so emotional was almost unprecedented, and while his heart sank, he couldn’t help but find her reaction cute. He chuckled softly, feeling a bit silly for feeling that way.
Unconsciously, Kylian wiped her flushed face with both hands.
