When the Villainess Died, the Male Lead Went Crazy - Chapter 145.2
“I heard Zisis won’t have a place in the afterlife.”
“What? Did he choose to serve as the goddess’s assistant?”
“Right.”
Anais knew very well that being God’s assistant meant carrying a grand title but ultimately living a life of servitude, working without rest, and serving for an eternity.
“Really.”
“If it’s Zisis, he wouldn’t just stay as an assistant.”
“That’s true.”
An assistant could be chosen by the gods and become a lesser deity, though this was quite rare, and most assistants continued in their role for life.
“Why is it that someone like you always has so many subordinates?”
“It’s because I’m someone like me that I only have subordinates like that.”
“Fair enough.”
Even though it had been almost a year since Anais saw Lewarren, she felt a warmth and familiarity that she smiled without realizing it.
“Why haven’t you come out all this time?”
“Why are you getting straight to the point? I wasn’t prepared for this.”
“Didn’t you prepare yourself when you left the temple?”
“I did, but it seems I still needed more time.”
Lewarren frowned before sighing. Anais stared at him and then spoke.
“I know you have memories from your past life. I’ve been regaining my memories through dreams lately.”
“What?”
“Lilith returned as a god. She became the god of chaos. And every night, she comes to my room and shows me dreams.”
Anais casually shared this surprising revelation, and Lewarren’s face scrunched up in disbelief as he pushed his hair back.
“Do you know how many times I’ve struggled with this since coming here?”
“I don’t know. Maybe ten thousand times. But unlike resentment, my feelings for you are more than love. I understand your choices because I made the same ones.”
“You’ll never understand my feelings. My love is far heavier than your naive love.”
“I’m not Zisis. Do you think I’ll let you speak so arrogantly?”
“Ugh! Don’t hit me so hard!”
Anais struck him hard in the stomach. He gasped for air and clutched his chest. Watching him, Anais smirked and spoke.
“At least you have a conscience. But I won’t stop hitting you.”
“It hurts so much.”
“Well, that’s what you get for making it hurt.”
As if to strike him again, Anais raised her fist, but Lewarren let go of his protective hands and prepared for another blow. However, it was quiet.
“Ugh.”
“Aren’t you going to hit me again?”
“It’s fine. I was actually planning to storm the Roseraine Temple if you didn’t come out by the end of the month.”
“I’ve heard. The goddess spoke to me about it.”
Hearing Lewarren’s reply, Anais gave up on being angry and picked a flower.
“What’s this?”
“Wear it all day and reflect on it.”
“Is that it? Just two hits, and it’s over?”
“Well, how else should I punish you? Do you want to spar instead?”
Anais had returned to her body and was feeling quite combative. If it were the old her, she might have lost to Lewarren, but now she had become much stronger. So, she wouldn’t lose.
“If I defeat you, Kylian Cypnos will snap my neck.”
“Hahaha. Do you really think you can win?”
Anais laughed without realizing it. Lewarren laughed at her words as well.
Thus, Anais led him to the table in the garden. This place had been set up by Kylian so that Anais could have some cozy moments with him, but today, the person sitting at the table was different.
“Sit.”
“Alright.”
The white table and chairs were luxurious, as they had been personally ordered by the Emperor. Around them were blooming flowers, making the scene look like something out of a painting.
“I’ll have milk tea. Lewarren will have black tea. Ah, Lewarren’s tea needs to be brewed in pre-warmed cups, and the tea must be poured over them. Make it really hot, as Lewarren drinks it when the time is right for him. And use the tea from the West.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
Anais, who was well aware of Lewarren’s refined taste, gave the orders naturally and then stared at him.
“You have something to say to me, right?”
“Yes.”
“Then say it quickly. If you talk while drinking tea, the roof of your mouth will burn.”
“If it only burns, I’ll be lucky. You’ve sprayed it on me several times, haven’t you?”
“Quiet.”
Anais became flustered when Lewarren brought up her embarrassing moment, and her face turned bright red.
“Just get to the point. Are you trying to embarrass me?”
“Is that really embarrassing? Should I die from the humiliation after I was sprayed with tea that came from your mouth?”
“Hey, stop talking about that.”
“Yes, Empress. I have sinned.”
“Pfft…”
Anais knew well that Lewarren was teasing her on purpose. Although she was embarrassed, she couldn’t help but find it a bit amusing.
“You bad man.”
“Looking at you makes me feel like I was foolish for hesitating to come here.”
“You are a fool. Now you realize?”
“Yes. I’ve always been like that.”
Lewarren smiled brightly. When the wind blew, his hair fluttered, and Anais felt a rare sense of peace.
“Get to the point.”
“You must have heard that the temple is now allowing marriage.”
“Ah, that’s right.”
Lewarren took a deep breath.
Then, he became aware that Kylian was nearby. From the moment Anais arrived here, he knew Kylian had been lurking around, waiting for the right moment to appear in front of her without her noticing.
“I’d like you to accept me as your consort.”
