When the Villainess Died, the Male Lead Went Crazy - Chapter 141.2
He gently ran his trembling hand through her hair, the soft, golden strands flowing through his fingers as they curled under his touch.
“Then trust me. Let me see all the memories, so I can forgive you.”
“…Yes.”
Kylian answered with difficulty.
In the end, there was no longer a temple of the Goddess Julias in the palace, but a temple of chaos.
* * *
“Anais!”
Anais stretched out her arms toward the person running toward her, without realizing it.
“Phileal?”
Phileal, seeing Anais walking around the temple of chaos, ran up to her.
“Did you come to see me?”
“Get away.”
Kylian frowned and tried to push Phileal away, but he tightened his hold on Anais and glared at him, almost mockingly.
“What are you doing? Like a child.”
Anais laughed at his absurd behavior, but she didn’t let go of the hug. She didn’t mind holding Phileal, as he felt like a younger brother to her.
Duke Percival had thought of him as something like a dog, but to Anais, Phileal was a family member, someone she had shared everything with.
“I saw Anais from afar, so I ran to see you. I was so happy to see you.”
“You see me every day, and you’re still this happy?”
“Even if I see you every day, I’m still happy. I want to see you again and again.”
His cheerful words twisted Kylian’s mood. He knew Anais cared for him, but it was all his fault. If he hadn’t been so harsh on her before the regression, she never would have gotten close to someone like Phileal, who had been a death priest.
Now, the chaos priests had a fairly good reputation in the Empire, but the death priests had been feared as monstrous beings who offered living sacrifices.
Anais hanging out with Phileal, who was a former death priest, was entirely Kylian’s fault. He understood it in his head, but watching Anais easily hug Phileal was a different matter.
If it were up to him Kylian wanted to grab any nearby branch, summon his sword energy, and cut him down. He imagined taking Phileal to a remote forest where Anais couldn’t find him, and then leaving him there so it would take at least a year before he returned to the palace.
“Have you had lunch?”
“No, I was praying during lunch, so I haven’t eaten yet.”
“Well, that prayer was for Lilith, right?”
“Yeah, but still, Lord ‘Re’ is a god.”
“Are you asking for something?”
“Yes.”
Anais slowly pulled herself from Phileal, and he seemed to fall for a moment before hugging her again.
“Ah, are you really going to act like a child?”
“Hehehe.”
Phileal’s bright red eyes sparkled as he looked at Anais. Then, he glanced at Kylian, who was tightly gripping his fist and holding back his killing intent..
“Anais, have you eaten lunch?”
“No. Would you like to have lunch with me?”
“What? Wife, aren’t meals supposed to be just for the two of us?”
“Let’s eat together. We always eat just the two of us.”
Kylian was momentarily startled. He thought once they got out of this place, he’d be able to get rid of the annoying dog, but now he had to share a meal with him too.
“Ah, is it uncomfortable?”
“…No.”
Kylian was, of course, uncomfortable. He had always eaten alone with Anais. Unless he had unavoidable outside business, mealtime had been an untouchable territory for him. But now she was inviting someone else to join their meal.
“Can I call Lord ‘Re’ too?”
“Yes.”
“Just a moment.”
Phileal said this and released his hold of Anais. He pressed the pentagram on the back of his hand with his palm and closed his eyes.
“Lord Re seems to be in the middle of a meeting with the Gods. She won’t be coming.”
“I see. Then let’s eat just the three of us.”
“Okay!”
With that, the three of them went to have lunch together. Throughout the walk to the Emperor’s palace, Kylian glared at Phileal and intertwined his hand with Anais’s other hand.
“Kylian?”
“I wanted to hold your hand too.”
“Yes.”
She didn’t suspect that Kylian was trying to keep Phileal in check. Even though the gods had become new beings and their doctrines had changed, priests still shouldn’t have close contact with the Gods.
They could adopt children, but they were forbidden from having biological children of their own. Finally, they arrived at the dining room in the Emperor’s palace.
“I want to sit here.”
“Yes.”
Kylian was supposed to sit in the seat of honor, but truthfully, he wanted to sit next to Anais. However, before he could, Phileal had already taken the seat next to her.
“My hand is hurt.”
“Oh, right. How did that happen?”
Phileal showed his fingertip, which had been fine earlier but now had a wound on it. Kylian knew that Phileal was intentionally hurting himself and then talking to Anais about it, but he said nothing and kept quiet.
Kylian was aware that he had committed so many wrongs that he couldn’t bring himself to interfere with the reunion of the two.
“If you blow on it, it might feel better.”
Phileal pretended to be in pain and extended his index finger toward Anais. Anais softly blew on his hand.
Crack.
“Kylian?”
Anais turned in surprise to see Kylian smiling awkwardly, unknowingly crushing the fork he had been holding.
