When the Villainess Died, the Male Lead Went Crazy - Chapter 140.1
Although Lilith looked completely different now, Anais recognized her instantly. Phileal did as well.
Anais, startled, widened her eyes and looked at Kylian’s expression. He sighed, as if he had a headache, and rubbed his forehead.
“Lilith?”
“Lady Anais.”
Even though Lilith had completely changed, Anais could instinctively tell that this was still Lilith.
“Do you recognize me?”
Her, or rather his, voice was very low. Lilith’s voice had once been high and clear, but now it was different.
“I changed to a form that matches my true nature.”
Lilith had turned into a man. However, her blonde hair and blue eyes were still the same.
“Actually, I kept the hair and eyes like this for Lady Anais.”
“Really? What did you originally look like?”
“This.”
Lilith smiled and unleashed his power, and in an instant, his hair turned white, and his eyes became pitch black.
“So that’s why you were fond of Phileal.”
“Lady Anais, it really took me a long time to get here.”
During their conversation, Phileal interrupted.
Anais hadn’t regained all her memories, but she often dreamed of the time when she glimpsed Lilith’s memories. That’s why, when she had heard Lilith was gone, she vaguely suspected that she might have returned to being a god.
“Do you dare interrupt me?”
“I thought Lord ‘Re’ was finished speaking.”
Phileal spoke politely to Lilith. ‘Re,’ as Lilith was called, messed up his hair and then looked at Anais.
“What’s going on?”
Anais asked. Kylian stood up and gently led his wife to the chair, ensuring she wasn’t standing.
At that, Lilith made a small gesture with his hand. With the gesture, Anais’s chair moved slightly forward, and before she knew it, she was seated.
“You’ve gotten arrogant after regaining your power.”
“You’re the arrogant one, Kylian. How dare you stab me?”
Lilith spoke as if Kylian’s actions were absurd, yet he smiled, as if recalling an amusing incident.
“Then why did you give up your power so easily?”
“Because that was the only way for you to live. I knew my wife would definitely look for you.”
“Still, you secretly wanted me dead.”
“……”
“Well, your wish was fulfilled, and I couldn’t return to my original form. I’m very grateful for that.”
At Lilith’s words, Anais glanced at Kylian. However, she had no intention of pressing him about it. She was afraid Kylian might once again look at her with a troubled expression and ask for her forgiveness, so Anais quickly took his hand to reassure him.
“I don’t know how much of the memories Lady Anais has recovered, but you won’t be able to recover any more.”
“Why?”
“Because the fragments of those memories are now useless. I intend to collect them all. Would you like to keep them?”
“……”
Anais closed her mouth, clearly confused. The words about ‘collecting’ memories were akin to saying that everything she had dreamed about would be taken away.
“I’ll give you time to think. Or, would you prefer I return everything and let you decide after?”
Lilith genuinely wanted Anais to be happy. She thought that perhaps it would be better for Anais if she didn’t have those memories.
“Give me time to think.”
“Yes.”
As Anais said that, Lilith smiled brightly.
“Then, while Lady Anais is deciding, I’ll stay in the palace.”
“Do you want to stay in the Empress’s palace?”
“Yes, that’s fine. Oh, but for that to happen, I should do this.”
Lilith snapped her fingers, and this time, she returned to her female form.
“Can’t you return your face too?”
“That’s a bit complicated. Kylian Cypnos’s desire for me to return as a god was so strong that I can’t go back to that face.”
While Lilith could change her gender, she couldn’t completely return to her original face. Kylian had wished for Lilith to be far from both her and Anais.
“I can change my voice, though.”
Lilith snapped her fingers again, and her voice returned to the same one from before.
“Much better.”
Phileal, standing next to her, seemed like he also wanted to speak, pulling at Lilith’s sleeve. Lilith smirked, ignoring him, and looked at Anais.
“Tonight, let’s sleep together, Lady Anais.”
Phileal tugged harder at her sleeve.
“Lord Re, you promised you’d let me speak.”
Phileal said this, and Lilith shrugged with a laugh, signaling him to go ahead.
“Phileal.”
“Anais, I really wanted to come see you right away. I’ve been so worried, struggling every day… As soon as your memories came back, I wanted to be here…”
Phileal spoke with a tearful voice, and Anais looked at him with a soft smile.
“I’m glad you came, Phileal.”
“Anais, I’m so happy that you… you’re alive.”
As he said this with a choked voice, Anais genuinely smiled at him. Her heart warmed, and she couldn’t help but grin.
“I’ll make sure you can be happy from now on. Just like I promised, I’ll do anything so you can be happy.”
“Yes, thank you.”
Phileal, who had been looking directly into Anais’s eyes, smiled with tears, half-laughing.
“May I dismiss the attendants?”
For a moment, Anais nodded at Lilith’s words.
“Then what about me?”
“You’ll sleep alone tonight. We’ve slept together for a year already.”
“I can’t sleep alone now. How could I sleep without you?”
“Just tonight.”
Kylian said this with some hesitation, but Anais firmly stated that it’s not the time for him to step in. Realizing this, Kylian swallowed his words.
