“Kuhk…!”

Lilith found it strange that the blood running down her hand looked warm, thanks to the hearth’s flames, when it was such chilling blood.

Even this beast could bleed like a human.

“You worthless creature! I raised you!”

“A dog would have done better than you.”

Lilith couldn’t hold back anymore. The pain she thought she could endure only made the beast grow bigger.

No matter what, she hated living like livestock. In her past life, she had never been embraced by a man like this, not even once.

She was more than just a human woman.

She hadn’t been a goddess from the beginning either; she had been the God of Chaos. Binding her in the form of a woman was likely to make her feel this humiliation. It was probably a petty revenge, forcing her to experience how meaningless the things she loved were.

“Ugh…!”

Lilith had no choice but to let go. She had wanted to push it deeper, but before she could, the Count’s son, who was holding a gun, was glaring at her fiercely. The gun aimed at her fired.

Bang!

“Kuh…!”

Lilith wasn’t hit in the head. The bullet grazed her face, leaving a wound, but it soon regenerated. The blood gushing from the wound spilled over the Count’s son’s body beneath her.

“Heal me. You worthless creature.”

The bullets, filled with anger, pierced her body several more times, but each time her monstrous body regenerated. Seeing it, Lilith felt like she was about to lose her mind. She wanted to scream.

This was a clear curse. No matter how much she was hurt, she healed, and she didn’t age. For a human with a short lifespan, it would have been a blessing. But for a god whose future was set, with an end in a living hell, forced to repeat misfortune, it wasn’t a blessing.

It was a curse. A curse and a noose that kept her from escaping the path laid by Goddess Julias.

“Hurry up and heal me!”

But Lilith didn’t heal him.

Bang!

Then, darkness.

At that moment, Lilith hoped she would die.

* * *

It took a week to recover from the bullet wounds covering her body.

After a week, she had fully recovered and regained her original form. But something had changed.

Now, more shackles bound her body. Her neck was fixed to the wall, and her arms were chained to hooks in the ceiling.

“You can’t die even if you want to.”

The Count’s son had also fully healed. At that time, she didn’t know who had healed him, but later, she learned it had been High Priest Raviel. High Priest Raviel, who took pleasure in thoroughly destroying Lilith.

“You too can’t die even if you want to.”

Then, the room, where only the Count’s son and he were present, was suddenly invaded by knights wearing the count’s family attire.

The voice that rang through the knights was a woman’s. The woman unsheathed a sword and swiftly cut off the Count’s son’s arm. The fat, pudgy fingers lost their strength and tumbled to the floor.

The woman spoke to Lilith as though they had known each other for a long time.

“I’ve been looking for you, Lilith.”

“What, what is this? Everyone! This b*tch!”

“A ‘b*tch,’ you say? Even though you’re a Count, isn’t it a bit too much to not recognize me?”

She spoke confidently as she removed the wig he had been wearing.

Soon, platinum-blonde hair cascaded down her shoulders, and the Count’s son, still holding his severed arm, looked at her in pale horror.

“Young Duke Percival!”

“Yes. Do you remember when you gave me the platinum pendant?”

“Your, Your Excellency! Why are you doing this to me…!”

“Who abolished slavery?”

“Ah, th, th, that…”

“My father abolished slavery for me. And yet, how dare you break that law?”

“Spare, spare me! This is just…”

Anais didn’t seem to have any intention of showing mercy. She aimed the sword she had been holding at his throat and spoke coldly.

“Your father’s last wish was to spare you.”

“Fa, father…”

“What is your last wish?”

The Count’s son suddenly realized how eerily quiet everything was around him. He understood that it was all over.

“I’ve sinned!”

“Good last words.”

“No, no, spare me… Ack!”

Bang!

The shot came from the side, fired by Alucard, who was guarding Anais.

“Who told you to shoot?”

“I didn’t want you to be soft-hearted, Your Excellency.”

“Do you think I would do that?”

“Yes, it’s something Duke Percival worries about.”

Alucard smiled casually and lowered his gun. As the Count’s son collapsed to the floor, his breath stopped and Lilith’s tears began to fall.

“Huh…please, save me…”

At her words, Anais spoke in confusion.

“I came to save you.”

“Please save me, please… please save me, ugh…”

“Yeah, I came to save you.”

Anais swung her sword, and Lilith squeezed her eyes shut. The sound of chains breaking filled the air, and when she opened her eyes again, all the restraints on her body had vanished.

“Are you alright?”

Lilith wiped her blurry eyes and took Anais’ outstretched hand.

“I’ll protect you now, Lilith. It’s okay.”

Lilith collapsed into her arms and sobbed.

* * *

Lilith arrived in Anais’ room.

“Why am I here?”

“Before we return to the temple, we need to capture the people who sold you into slavery. It’s better to stay in a safe place until then.”

Lilith thought Anais was strange. After all, she was offering her own room.
