We're in a Contract Marriage, But I've Imprinted - Chapter 202
Despite shedding tears, Ian spoke with a mocking tone with his eyes filled with contempt, as he looked at the stunned Monica.
“For the mere reason that she irritated you, you pushed someone to their death. Someone who had done nothing wrong to you, off that cliff. And you burned her alive.”
“…No, no.”
“Even though all the evidence and circumstances point to you as the murderer, you’re still denying it?”
“Miss told me to do it!”
The head maid intervened, standing up as she began recounting everything she had heard.
“You always spoke ill of Lady Melissa. You said she was a lowly Omega who stole your man, and that someone like her, worse than a bug, deserved to die. Not only that, but you also insulted her mother, saying that she should pay for her sins with death. I heard everything, and I helped you in your schemes.”
“That’s a lie! Ian, listen to me! She’s lying!”
“Master knows everything. Not only me, but the coachman’s testimony as well. He’s heard it all.”
“…”
The head maid looked at Monica with disgust as she continued speaking.
“I’ve agreed to go along with what happened today. After all, we’re both going to die… I’m taking you with me.”
“Let go of me!”
Desperate to break free from both of them, Monica tried to bite down on Ian’s arm. But the head maid lunged at her, grabbing her hair roughly. In the chaos, Ian smelled the burning scent.
The fact that the carriage had caught fire was enough to drive him mad with emotion. Tears spilled from his eyes as he laughed, unable to control his mixed feelings.
The pain Melissa had endured brought tears to his eyes, while the joy of finally making things right and being forgiven by her made a smile spread across his lips.
The black smoke began to coil above the heads of the tangled trio. Ian looked up at the ceiling, waiting for the right moment. Meanwhile, Monica and the head maid began to panic, noticing the smoke. Only Ian remained completely still.
“Kyaa, let go! Let go of me!”
Monica screamed, shaking her arm that was caught by Ian, trying desperately to escape, but her strength was failing. The smoke filled her nose, making her eyes water.
“Why, why are you doing this….are you crazy?”
Ian replied with a calm tone.
“I’m just making everything return to the way it was, Monica.”
“Return to the way it was? If things were the way they were, I’d be the Duke’s wife! So what went wrong? Melissa ruined that, but why am I the one being punished for this?”
“Hah, it’s a sin to not even realize your own wrongdoings. To keep acting like you’re above everything.”
“Cough, please, let me go.”
As the carriage filled with thick smoke, Monica and the head maid coughed and lowered their heads, struggling to escape it. Unlike them, Ian welcomed the suffocating heat, inhaling the black smoke deeply into his lungs with satisfaction.
He wished to feel the same pain Melissa had, even if it was more excruciating, hoping that he could experience what she went through. Acknowledging that something inside him was broken, he nevertheless found pleasure in it.
Even if the imprint drove someone to madness, it made him appreciate the compulsive force that led him to follow the one he loved blindly.
Unconditional love.
The love he would soon show Melissa would be sticky and dark, but unlike before, it would no longer be dictated by conditions or circumstances.
A flame like a red tongue shot up through the black smoke. The fire spread with fierce intensity, first swallowing the head maid’s body, before turning toward Monica and Ian.
“No, no! Aaaah!”
Monica screamed as the intense heat scorched her hair. She struggled wildly, while Ian stayed and endured silently. Rumble- The carriage lurched sideways, and both Ian and Monica collapsed. Every time a burning ember fell like hot wax on their skin, Monica screamed, and Ian gritted his teeth.
A little more, just a little more. He kept repeating it in his mind, finally smiling deeply when the carriage crashed with a dull thud and rolled over.
Boom! With a thunderous noise, the carriage fell into the water, shattering into pieces and disappearing. The bodies were swept away by the fast-moving water.
Even a sword master like Ian couldn’t endure the flames consuming his body, and he soon lost consciousness.
The box filled with past memories, carrying the sins and bodies of the three, created a great blaze. Of all the punished, only Ian was smiling, though their punishment had been meted out justly.

The Duchy’s knights moved swiftly according to Ian’s orders. The commander, feeling desolate about carrying out such a ridiculous task, could not refuse his lord’s absolute command. No matter how absurd the situation, he had to obey as the knights commander.
Following Ian’s instructions, the knights shot a fire arrow at the carriage, waited for the right moment, and pushed it off the cliff. Then, the knights, who had been waiting below, rescued the three as they were swept away by the water.
The knights returned to the Duchy with the three, quickly taking them to the personal doctor, but the injuries were so severe that treatment was difficult. The doctor, unaware of the situation, could only scream in his mind.
Severe burns and fractures—just the external injuries were serious, and the internal damage was unimaginable. Realizing that he couldn’t handle all the wounds alone, the doctor hurriedly called for a renowned doctor from the capital.
Unfortunately, the head maid died, and Monica was in critical condition.
After hearing the news, Alex hurried to the Duchy to check on his sister’s condition.
“…What on earth happened here?!”
