Villainous Husband, the One You’re Obsessed With Is Over There - Chapter 229
Chapter 115.1
As the distance closed in, Sylvia ran with all her might.
The watchman, who had been standing with his back to Sylvia, heard her footsteps and turned around in surprise. Like a well-trained knight of Actilus, he instinctively tried to draw his sword, but he was already a step too late as the corner of the ebony jewel box struck him squarely on the forehead.
The watcher staggered without even being able to scream. It was fortunate for the remaining four people.
Sylvia adjusted her grip on the jewel box and struck the watcher repeatedly with a furious, ghostly expression.
Thud! Thud!
After a few dull sounds echoed, the watcher collapsed to the ground. A pool of blood formed around his corpse, his eyes not even closed.
Cisen covered her mouth and stared at the corpse. Amidst the shock and horror, a twinge of satisfaction emerged.
In the meanwhile, Sylvia, still holding the ebony jewel box, stared at the man standing behind Eden. Perhaps finding her gaze somewhat chilling, the burly man twitched his lips before giving a friendly smile, although his smile was barely noticeable through his reddish-brown beard.
“I’m an ally.”
He gestured back and forth between himself and Eden as if they knew each other well. However, strangely, he didn’t seem inclined to mention his name.
Only then did Sylvia roll the ebony jewel box to one side.
“You managed to get an Actilus knight’s uniform and body armor. That must have been difficult.”
“Not really. Because of the civil wars breaking out everywhere, this country is recruiting a lot of new soldiers.”
Eden removed the blood-stained hat from the watcher’s head. It seemed he wanted to see if he could take the rank insignia and wear it himself. However, since the insignia was also splattered with blood, he sighed and gave up.
He dropped the hat on the ground and looked around. Silence prevailed.
“What that child said is true. The maids involved in the escape have been released and are staying at the Empress’s palace.”
“Child?”
Eden didn’t answer Cisen’s question.
“Where is Angelica?”
That question sent goosebumps up the back of her neck.
She couldn’t believe her luck. If Eden had come just the day before yesterday, she wouldn’t have been able to answer that question. Even if he had come at this time today, the result would have been the same if Raniero hadn’t left after assigning her the task.
She responded in a trembling voice.
“You’re lucky. I only found out yesterday myself.”
Eden frowned.
“Not until yesterday? Why?”
“Because the Emperor isolated her from us.”
Following Cisen’s answer, Sylvia’s question quickly followed.
“So, why are you here?”
Eden gave a grand answer in a businesslike tone.
“To rescue Angelica, kill the Emperor, and bring about world peace.”
Cisen liked the part about saving Angelica, while Sylvia liked the part about killing the Emperor. Despite the fact that they were curious about a lot of things, this wasn’t the time to leisurely ask questions.
They needed to move quickly.
“Should we hide the body?”
Richard asked.
Cisen and Sylvia both agreed that it wouldn’t be necessary.
“The guards watching us don’t come inside the Empress’s Palace. They think they’ll catch a disease if they enter the area where the sinners live.”

Raniero still hadn’t arrived.
I lay helplessly on the bed, staring only at the ceiling.
I miss him.
I missed him so much.
It was frustrating not knowing why he hadn’t come. No matter how busy he was, this didn’t make sense. For a whole day, he didn’t show his face even once.
What did I do wrong?
So what did I do wrong?
If there was ever a time when I did something that didn’t please him, I wished he had told me then so I could’ve fixed it right away…
These painful thoughts kept coming, and I didn’t even feel hungry.
I continued to speculate on why Raniero hadn’t come without a single complaint about time standing still. Numerous possibilities crossed my mind. Most of them revolved around my faults, imagining repeatedly that it was because he didn’t like me.
I blinked my eyes dazedly and dozed off for a moment.
In my dream, Raniero looked into my face for a moment and then left without looking back. I cried uncontrollably, uttering phrases like ‘Wait a moment, don’t leave, please stay by my side.’
Although I wanted to follow him, I couldn’t. There were countless locks on the window bars that blocked the way between him and me. In the place where he disappeared, only deep darkness and chilly air remained, and I stared endlessly into that darkness despite knowing he wouldn’t return.
The despair growing in my heart tore through my chest and crawled out. The despair was red. It might have fed on all my blood and grown larger because of it…
Clang!
At that moment, I heard a strange sound.
Clang, clang, clang!
It was a loud ringing of bells.
The bell ringing was irritating me.
Clang, clang, clang, clang, clang!
It was too loud. Couldn’t it stop ringing?
“Choi Yeonji!”
Thud!
I snapped my eyes open.
