Villainous Husband, the One You’re Obsessed With Is Over There - Chapter 198
Chapter 99.2
Fearing that adding anything hastily might create inconsistencies in the story, the Countess refrained from saying anything. Furthermore, speaking brought up a repulsive odor from her throat, making it difficult to endure. In the meanwhile, Raniero repeatedly questioned her about the specifics of the incident. As she recalled the story she had rehearsed earlier, she carefully avoided any discrepancies in her words as she insinuated against the Duchess of Nerma.
Raniero nodded his head with an indiscernible, subtle attitude.
“I see.”
Soon, ice cream was served as an appetizer to kill the aftertaste and soothe the palate. Fortunately, the ice cream intended for Angelica’s table had melted away, so she didn’t have to eat anything spoiled. However, that moment of relief was short-lived as the main dish of the day, veal, arrived.
This seemed to be the most difficult to eat.
While the thought of having to eat it all made her head spin again, she had no choice. Still, she didn’t have to finish the whole veal dish. No, more precisely, she couldn’t eat it all. The moment she cut into the spoiled meat and put it in her mouth, Countess Fallon realized that this wasn’t just ‘spoiled meat.’ But by then, it was already too late. Her tongue began to burn.
“Uuurk, ugh…”
In considerable agony, she clutched her throat and gurgled in pain. Almost instinctively, she reached for the glass of water. It was because she was captivated by the thought of needing to cleanse her mouth.
But that didn’t work out as planned, either.
Raniero stretched his upper body and reached out to take the glass of water so effortlessly. While despair etched deep into Countess Fallon’s face, he wore a picturesque smile before splashing the water, which seemed as precious as life itself to her, to her face.
“Your, Your Majesty!”
The Count sprang up from his seat.
“Keuugh…”
As her eyes rolled back, there was a dull thud as she fell from her chair, though Raniero looked down at the figure with a chillingly cold, indifferent face. On the other hand, the Count’s mind wasn’t functioning properly. He just felt dizzy.
At that moment, Raniero wiped his mouth and held out a dagger to him.
“Make your choice.”
The Count felt the cold sweat that had begun to break out on his forehead.
Things were going terribly wrong.
“One. Your wife is going to die in five minutes anyway, and there’s no chance of her surviving. Starting with that woman’s face and peeling off her entire scalp.”
“Yes, yes…?”
Count Fallon’s eyes twisted in horror at the dreadful instructions.
“Two, if you don’t like that… eat all the food your wife left behind.”
His eyes flickered.
Now, Countess Fallon, with froth foaming from her mouth, was making gurgling sounds from her throat. Her tongue, once pink, had turned black. Judging by the symptoms, there was no doubt that the main dish had been injected with the poison of the Soleols poison frog.
He hesitated in confusion. However, soon, despite sweating profusely, he accepted the dagger from Raniero’s hand.
Raniero Actilus watched the Count of Fallon hesitantly approaching his dying wife but soon lost interest and resumed focusing on his meal.

That afternoon.
Raniero Actilus summoned the ministers together. Among them stood Duke Nerma, who had quickly reported Countess Fallon as the main instigator after the Empress collapsed. The atmosphere, quiet as they awaited the Emperor’s arrival, was incredibly heavy.
How long had they waited?
As the Emperor of Actilus appeared while carrying something over his shoulder, everyone bowed their heads and kneeled in unison. As usual, Raniero showed little interest in formalities. He lifted what he was carrying over his shoulder and threw it to the floor.
The faces of the ministers hardened as they saw it.
It was a corpse so horribly disfigured that its face was unrecognizable.
…Wearing the Empress’s clothes.
The body was dressed in the same clothes the Empress wore on the day she collapsed in the council meeting room. The ill-fitting clothes had been forcibly squeezed onto the body, causing them to burst in places.
Raniero opened his mouth, looking down at the corpse as if it were a bug.
“The Empress is dead.”
Gulp.
Dry saliva flowed down the nervous people’s throats.
“This corpse is the Empress.”
Raniero repeated the same words, changing his phrasing. Then, he asked the ministers as if to confirm.
“What is this?”
While uncertain about many things, it was clear that the body wasn’t the Empress.
Amidst the confusion, Duke Narma felt a strong conviction that it was Countess Fallon, but he couldn’t voice his thoughts aloud. After all, the omnipotent ruler was claiming that it was the Empress. Now that the Empress was officially deceased, it was an order not to concern anyone with her whereabouts.
The ministers responded unanimously to the Emperor’s question.
“Her Majesty the late Empress.”
Raniero smiled coldly.
