Villainous Husband, the One You’re Obsessed With Is Over There - Chapter 187
Chapter 94.1
The air surrounding the room changed. Even though there was a smell of blood, no one was bleeding.
Raniero strode forward with a face like a demon on the battlefield. It felt like my mind was turning white before, suddenly, a red light flashed like a warning siren.
“Aak!”
I screamed and threw something at him without even checking what I had in my hand. What I caught was a vase.
Raniero smashed it in the air, shattering it.
A shard of the vase raked across his clenched fist, and blood dripped from his knuckles. Still, it wasn’t the time to just stare at it blankly. Right now, that person was in a state I couldn’t handle. Rather than a human being, he was like a beast with its teeth bared. He arched his back slightly and lowered his knees. It seemed like he could spring up and pounce on me at any moment.
I overturned the nightstand next to the bed and leaped onto the bed. My plan was to climb over it and escape out of the Empress’s Palace.
There was no other way out of my position.
It wasn’t easy. I successfully leaped onto the bed. However, Raniero, who quickly shifted his attention towards me from the fallen nightstand, grabbed my ankle.
I let out a muffled scream.
The pain took precedence over the sudden sinking feeling in my chest. Whether it was intentional or not, he had grabbed the very ankle that was already injured. I fell right back onto the bed. The side of the bed sank deeply as Raniero quickly climbed onto it and pressed down on my back.
“Kugh…”
Unable to breathe properly, I coughed.
Raniero was ruthless. He was genuinely trying to kill me.
“Aaaahh!”
The survival instinct that had guided me ever since I fell here was fully demonstrated again. Although my vision narrowed dramatically, my senses sharpened. Like a cornered little bird pecking the eyes of a snake, I twisted my body and bit the back of Raniero’s hand.
I did so with the intention that it would be okay even if my jaw broke.
The injured hand, which had a stinging taste from the vase I threw, emitted a bitter flavor. I gritted my teeth, whimpering and crying, but didn’t let go of that hand. However, my resistance didn’t last long, and his hand slipped out of my mouth. I struggled to free my limbs, but I couldn’t even do that as he pressed down on my shoulders.
Completely overpowered, I glanced up at him through tangled strands of hair and took a deep breath. As he firmly pinned my upper body with his forearm, anchoring me in place, I tried desperately to resist, though it was in vain.
My cries choked in my throat, and I whimpered and panted helplessly.
Raniero grabbed my throat, and soon, I started to feel the pressure. Soon, as the sense of pressure began to intensify, I stared straight at him because there was nowhere else to look.
My vision was becoming blurry.
Was this how it would end? Was I going to die like this?
“Scared…”
I muttered incoherently.
“Sca…red…”
Amid the dark and hazy transformation of my vision, I saw Raniero’s eyes widening.
“No.”
He let go of me with a shove. As the air rushed into my lungs suddenly, I continued to cough due to my lungs desperately seeking oxygen.
In the meantime, a sound from the side caught my attention.
It started with the sound of Raniero stepping on the broken vase. Fragments of shattered glass crunched under his weight, making a ‘crackling’ noise as they broke apart. Soon, a similar sound came from his mouth. It was the sound of tightly clenched teeth grinding against each other.
I stared rigidly in that direction.
His face and lips were pale as if he was sick, no… he looked like a corpse.
Raniero, who had been quietly muttering phrases like ‘No,’ ‘It can’t be,’ ‘My will,’ and ‘My thoughts’ through his lips, which were drained of color, suddenly collapsed to the floor. It felt as if the strings of a marionette had been abruptly cut, and he was unable to control his own body. And then, a horrifying scream echoed through my room.
It was the first time I had heard such desperate screams.
His body bounced off the floor and convulsed as if he had received an electric shock. His face, once exuding vibrant colors, now had an unusually ashen complexion, with the veins in the whites of his eyes all bursting, making his eyes ghastly red and grotesque.
A fear more intense than when Eden was beaten in the old sanctuary engulfed me.
I suddenly became desperate for the medicine that Raniero had given me during the summer hunt. I sobbed and bit my fingers to keep my sanity intact. Losing consciousness might be a better option, but for some reason, I had a gut feeling that letting go of consciousness here would be the end of me.
‘…I must not lose consciousness.’
I reminded myself, putting strength into my jaw as I bit my finger.
