Villainous Husband, the One You’re Obsessed With Is Over There - Chapter 181
Chapter 91.1
Most of Seraphina’s story made sense.
It was a common and cliché tale for unfortunate humans to suffer due to the quarrels of gods. However, it was difficult to accept the idea that I had become that unfortunate human—either rationally or emotionally. It was true that I had begun to have a strange sense of certainty upon coming here, and it was also true that the most clear connection to it was the sanctuary of the Saintess’s prayer room.
Nevertheless, that alone was too meager. Perhaps Seraphina was just jumping to conclusions.
“If you want to say such things, please provide more solid evidence.”
I said firmly.
“In the first place, it’s different from what was planned, isn’t it? Right? Actilla’s successor is supposed to feel the collision of fate the moment they meet the Saint of Tunia…”
I never experienced anything like that.
There was pity in Seraphina’s gaze as she looked at me protesting as if she was saying that denying it wouldn’t change the truth.
In turn, she asked me.
“So, do you believe that there is another Saintess of Tunia? Where is she? When will she appear?”
There was nothing to say when she asked me that.
As I remained silent, her words continued.
“The central events are out of alignment around you. Even the most important emotions of the Emperor are askew. Is the spark of the first impression really that important?”
She showed no sign of wavering.
“The duty to kill Actilla as the Saintess of Tunia must begin from the difference in the ways given to me and the ways given to you.”
“B-But…”
I blindly retorted.
“I’m not merciful enough to be the Saint of Mercy. I’m not brave enough, nor am I strong enough. I’m just an ordinary and cowardly person…”
To burden a commoner with such a global mission… If it were me, I wouldn’t do that. What if I couldn’t fulfill the given mission because I was afraid of Raniero? If I were a god, I would thoroughly evaluate everyone and, after careful consideration, entrust the mission to the best candidate.
In addition, I wanted to emphasize this once again.
I wasn’t even a follower of Tunia.
Thinking up to that point, laughter escaped me. All of this felt like a joke.
“Seraphina, It really doesn’t seem possible. It makes no sense. Even hearing that Eden is a saint seems less laughable than this.”
I’ve always been someone who has always chosen to either bow down or run away rather than stand up against Raniero. It was a painful truth that I had said so many times that it hurt, but I was a coward. Even his cruel jokes sent shivers down my spine, and when his arrows were aimed at me, I was so scared that I was frozen in fear.
Could someone like me kill Raniero?
It was ridiculous.
Covertly helping the Saintess of Tunia from behind, gathering the feeble courage to do at least that much, might be possible; nonetheless, it was really too much for me to go out and kill him directly.
If I were a god, I wouldn’t appoint such a weakling as a saint.
“You know my personality, don’t you, Seraphina? I can’t kill him.”
In the original story, Seraphina lost her reason due to the death of her loved one, rendering her unable to see anything rationally. However, there was no one in my life who would have such a powerful impact on me.
“My body will freeze up like a mouse in front of a snake.”
As I vehemently denied it, Seraphina finally nodded slightly. Still, it didn’t seem like she completely agreed with everything I said.
I quickly changed the subject, avoiding her gaze.
“B-By the way, how is Eden? I’m really worried because he seemed to be badly hurt…”
A mix of feelings appeared on Seraphina’s face.
“He lost consciousness like you. He’s over the edge of death, but… I heard his body might not be the same as before.”
The story of Eden didn’t bring any relief. Rather, it was more serious news than expected, and my heart sank.
I tightly sealed my lips.
Seraphina spoke as if comforting me.
“But he’s strong, isn’t he? His mental strength…”
However, she didn’t finish her sentence. It was because her bedroom door abruptly swung open without warning.
There was only one person worthy of that.
Raniero.
My expression immediately hardened, and for a moment, without realizing it, I looked up at him stiffly. Despite the fact that Seraphina was clearly in the room, he treated her as if she didn’t exist. There wasn’t a single instance where his gaze accidentally fell on her.
Those red eyes were frightening and uncomfortable.
Even more so than in the early days of the possession. Although I was barely accustomed to meeting his eyes, I couldn’t endure the fear that had thickened and turned away.
At that moment, Raniero opened his mouth.
“Hi, Angie.”
It was a nonchalant tone as if nothing had happened. Perhaps he also wanted me to casually greet him with a ‘Hello, Your Majesty.’
Still, I wasn’t in the right state of mind to do that.
“Get out.”
He gave a brief command. It must have been directed at Seraphina.
