Toxic Marriage - Chapter 22.2
Chapter 22.2
However, Tyrann grew restless again due to Freya’s silence. He didn’t even get a short letter from her saying she had arrived well.
‘Freya would have sent me a letter as soon as she arrived.’
His throat burned, afraid that something might have happened to her.
The urge to visit Niflheim and check Freya’s safety at any moment encouraged him, but there was nothing he could do. The castle of Niflheim was a fortress, and no outsiders were allowed in unless there was a clear purpose.
He might be able to get inside if it were clear that Freya’s personal safety was in danger, but it was too early to jump to that conclusion.
It would be too much of a deal if he visited that place, given that he was at the forefront of the church, so he had to be cautious.
Sigh.
Taking a deep breath, Tyrann straightened his posture and fixed his crumpled clothes, trying to clear his clouded mind.
‘Ten days from now.’
If he did not hear back from Freya for ten days, then no matter the reason, he would rush into the fortress of Niflheim to check on her safety.
He couldn’t wait any longer than that.
Scribble, scribble.
Picking up his pen again, Tyrann pretended to be calm and resumed the work he had paused for a moment.

Freya, who had escaped from her room with Risyr, hid in the shadows and headed towards the pantry. There weren’t many servants in the castle, so they were able to move without difficulty.
“Eek!”
The deliveryman, who was about to move the groceries and go back, screamed in surprise when he saw Freya and Risyr appear like assassins, but Risyr skillfully covered his mouth.
“We’re going to get in this empty cart and get out of this castle through the back door.”
The deliveryman looked like he was about to cry, but there was nothing he could do. Risyr’s gaze was fierce.
“You just have to drag it outside the castle as usual.”
“…”
“You’ll be given a generous reward if you help us go out without anyone knowing, so please cooperate.”
With that said, Risyr gave the deliveryman five gold coins.
“I’ll give you five more when we are outside the castle.”
The deliveryman checked the gold coins in his hand. The coins glistened under the moonlight.
As he nodded after much thought, the two got into the cart, covered themselves with blankets, and lowered their bodies.
“Hey, man. Anything left for today? The ingredients you brought in for the saintess were amazing.”
On the way out the back door, a soldier on patrol spoke to the deliveryman. Freya tensed up for a moment, but he did his best as if he didn’t want to miss the rest of the payment.
“Haha… Nothing today. The chef took everything off the cart.”
“If that bald eagle-like chef took care of it himself, then it can’t be helped. But it looks like there’s still something in the cart?”
“Ah, don’t touch that! It’s a fish that smells very nasty because it rotted on the way here.”
The soldier quietly walked away at that.
It was a close call. If they drew attention here, people would flock to them.
Nevertheless, the inner wall of the castle was the back door, so there was no need for another inspection, and the carriage was able to safely go towards the outer wall of the castle.
If Freya’s prediction was correct, the carriage would be searched once more while going out of the last gate.
“Wait. Stop right there.”
Without fail, the gatekeeper stopped the carriage.
Risyr listened carefully to see how many gatekeepers guarded this place.
‘I think it’s about two people,’ Risyr mouthed to Freya.
‘Can you knock them down?’
If he couldn’t defeat them right away, the escaped gatekeeper would immediately start a fire at the beacon tower. Then all the soldiers on patrol near the outer wall would run this way.
‘I can do it,’ he answered without a hint of concern.
Freya nodded. If Risyr said he could do it, then she believed he could do it.
The footsteps soon approached the cart where the two were hiding.
“I’ll check the carriage’s cart.”
Just as the gatekeeper came closer and lifted the blanket, Risyr and Freya emerged from under it.
