Toxic Marriage - Chapter 19.2
Chapter 19.2
“What do you take me for?”
“She is pretty.”
“That’s true, but…”
“You’ve never seen a face like that before in your life, have you?”
Erik was silent for a moment as Arne hit the nail on the head. He couldn’t help but wonder if that was why he had fallen for Freya’s words.
But the Freya he remembered had never tried to use her beauty to bend someone’s will.
If she did, she would just have to stay still and he would be fooled on his own, which was something he could never admit.
“So? Are you trying to say that I was disloyal and fell for my master’s wife’s beauty?”
“Don’t get upset. You’re not the only one like this. Word has already spread among the knights.”
“That’s because the knights are starving.”
“No, it’s not that. I saw that woman for a moment too, and there’s something…”
Arne narrowed her eyes as if recalling something, then swallowed her words.
“In any case, take more care regarding her.”
There she goes again. Erik was about to scold his sister for abusing her authority, but her expression was serious. It didn’t feel like she was nagging him for no reason.
“I’m serious.”
“…”
“I have a bad feeling about this.”

With less than a week left until the union, Freya was scratching her wrist.
“I don’t usually wear accessories, so wearing something so ugly and clunky is making me feel suffocated,” Freya complained to Risyr.
Although the two had been keeping their meetings to a minimum because they were concerned about getting the attention of those around them, they had an excuse to meet since Risyr had been bitten by the military dog.
So today too, Freya was able to follow Risyr to the training hall under the pretense of checking on his wound.
Since Harald, the commander-in-chief of this place, told him not to go near the knights, Risyr had to use the small training ground that had been used in the past.
“Is it really a device that only seals your divine power?” he asked in a doubtful voice, staring down at the bracelet.
“Seems like it.”
Freya worried that Fenrir might have installed some sort of secondary function, such as a tracking device. If that were the case, all her plans would go to waste.
However, after concentrating for a few days and analyzing the evilness flowing through this bracelet, she could not feel anything but a large stream of power. It meant that there was nothing more to it but the ability to seal her divine power.
“Ugh, my head hurts after concentrating so much for the first time in a while.”
“It wouldn’t have been easy for you, Miss Freya.”
Freya took her gaze off the bracelet and looked at Risyr. Her gaze became much more serious.
“Anyway, forget about the bracelet. Yesterday, the tailor brought me some fabric he bought in the empire. He didn’t want to go again, so he brought a wagon filled with different fabrics.”
“I guess it’s going well.”
“I decided to have the lace brought in three days. That’s when it’ll be decided whether we can get out of here or not.”
Risyr felt nervous for a moment. Noticing that, Freya smiled faintly.
“What’s wrong? Are you worried it might go wrong?”
“I don’t care if something goes wrong. If Miss Freya can get out of here safely, I have nothing to be greedy about.”
“You’re saying that again. If I were going to sacrifice you like that, I wouldn’t have saved you in the first place.”
Risyr’s heart ached for a moment when Freya said that she would not abandon him without the slightest hesitation.
That’s right. Even after what he did, she came to him like an angel and saved him.
That was why Risyr decided not to doubt her. He believed that if there was someone watching her from heaven, they would bless her on the road ahead.
“Don’t worry, Risyr.”
Freya spoke with a confident and serious expression that made it hard to believe she had been acting like an immature noble for a while.
“I’ll definitely get you out of this shitty place, sooner or later.”

It was the day the tailor brought in the new lace.
There were only four days left until the union, and it was also the day Freya’s escape plan culminated.
“This is the only one that might be worth using.”
Freya, who had been picking the lace the tailor had been showing her all morning, rejected all but one.
The tailor’s face turned all kinds of colors, and he left Freya’s room. He would probably curse her on his way back.
Freya looked at the clock. It had been a long time since the tailor left the room, but she still hadn’t seen the carriage leaving the front gate.
It meant that there was a problem.
‘Thirty minutes from now.’
“Lady Freya!”
As expected, it wasn’t long before Erik appeared, grumbling, his footsteps thumping on the floor.
