The Unlikely Imprint of the Villainess and the Male Lead - Chapter 13
Chapter 13
Translator: Yonnee
—
“What if I have to stay with the male lead until I die?”
The conversation had only resulted in a significant problem, with no solutions found.
In fact, even leaving the original story aside, if she thought about it purely from a calculated perspective, forming a connection with the influential Duke Cassio would be a tremendous benefit to her family.
‘But before that, it will become known that this relationship wasn’t formed by choice.’
If her family found out that she was forced into marriage with Richt, they wouldn’t be able to celebrate Luciana’s future with joy.
‘On top of that, I’ll have to watch the male lead being forced to love me for the rest of his life.’
Luciana recalled how Richt had behaved toward her that morning.
She could tell just by looking at his face that he didn’t see her as a woman. His clear eyes were filled only with rejection and confusion.
It wouldn’t matter if such a person professed his love passionately in the future.
“And on top of that, the female lead would be heartbroken over losing the male lead in just one night…”
Sigh. Such a relationship brings no joy.
An old fear resurfaced.
A distorted future would leave Luciana with a lifetime of hardship.
‘Isn’t there a good way out of this? I don’t want to be caught up in this mess.’
She planned to discuss a solution with Richt at the upcoming New Year’s ball, but her anxiety made it hard to wait quietly.
Luciana lifted her heavy body and bit her nails.
‘He said he was a descendant of werewolves…’
That was the cause of the imprinting.
‘Ah! Maybe there’s a book that could help me?’
As she pondered, Luciana thought of the library upstairs.
The marquisate’s library was vast, large enough to be called a library rather than a study. It was a space that the household head, her mother, had carefully curated for her father Terzion, who loved reading.
‘Since Father reads books from various fields, there might be books about other races.’
Without hesitation, Luciana headed to the library.
It wasn’t long before she found a book titled <Encyclopedia of Other Races>. She reached for it without hesitation.
‘If the imprint was influenced by werewolf blood, there might be something about it in here.’
As she skimmed the table of contents, Luciana quickly turned the pages. Soon, she found a chapter titled [ Werewolves ] along with an old-fashioned illustration.
A wolf’s head, baring its fangs and drooling, atop a man’s body covered in fur.
‘Could Richt be hiding another form?’
With that fearful thought, she continued reading.
Werewolves. Creatures with the form of a four-legged wolf and a human. Usually, they appear no different from ordinary humans, but when the full moon rises, they are seized by madness and transform into the form depicted. During this time, they lose their human reason…
‘What the…? There’s nothing about imprinting here!’
Eyes filled with faint hope quickly gave way to disappointment.
She had hoped to find some help from books, but it yielded nothing useful.
Replacing the dictionary on the shelf, Luciana left the library with a pensive look.
She could have asked her parents or Lorrain about the Cassio Dukedom.
They had far more experience in high society than she did and would have done their best to answer any of her questions.
‘But that would make them suspicious. They would all realize that my overnight partner was Richt.’
It seemed there was no solution in sight.
Would she have to wait until tonight to talk to him?
As Luciana trudged back to her bedroom, she suddenly had a realization.
“Ah!”
Wait a minute, why didn’t I think of this before?
The noise in her head stopped when she noticed a small door in the corner of her bedroom.
That door led to a study and lab she had used since her days in the academy, where she majored in magical manufacturing. It was filled with books and various magical herbs, a personal space for her studies.
