The Omega Princess and Her Two Leashes - Chapter 65
Chapter 65
A roar, the kind rarely heard at such a refined, sophisticated ball, cut through the music and hushed murmurs. “What was that?” Not only Enrique, but every eye in the ballroom swiveled towards the commotion.
Crescent Modreo had his younger brother, Camin Modreo, by the collar, his chest heaving with rage. “He’s at it again.” The scene was so familiar that a sigh escaped Enrique before any real shock could register.
Crescent, consumed by his inferiority complex towards his brother, was once again launching into one of his unprovoked tirades against Camin, a spectacle they’d all witnessed countless times.
“I heard he couldn’t make it due to a sudden carriage accident. How curious that he arrived after all,” Enrique muttered, clicking his tongue. He’d privately considered Crescent’s absence a blessing, and now deeply regretted the man’s last-minute recovery. If only Crescent had stayed away, they could have been spared this embarrassing display.
“I told you, brother, it was all a misunderstanding,” Camin said, his expression strained. Though still held by the collar, Camin stood tall and composed, the stark difference in their physiques making it seem as if Crescent was clinging to him.
“Lies! Nothing but lies from your deceitful mouth! I know you orchestrated that carriage accident! Don’t you dare feign innocence, you vile creature!” The ballroom buzzed, though certainly not with belief in Crescent’s accusations.
“His paranoia is truly severe,” Enrique muttered, disgusted. The whispers rippling through the room echoed his sentiment. “I understand he’s upset about the unfortunate accident, but this is excessive. To accuse his own brother of such a thing…”
“Sir Camin would never do something like that.”
“Of course not. He’s the epitome of integrity and nobility.”
“I can’t understand it. How can an elder brother, of all people, make such outrageous accusations against his own sibling?”
“My goodness, how utterly pathetic.”
“It’s no wonder Duke Modreo refuses to grant him the title of heir.”
“Sir Camin, the younger brother, is clearly the rightful successor. Why is he wasting his time as a mere knight for a powerless princess?”
“It’s because Sir Camin is so selfless and considerate. He’s stepping aside to avoid conflict between the brothers.”
“Exactly! And that narrow-minded Crescent, blinded by jealousy and paranoia, fails to see it and continues to pick fights.”
“Hush, he’ll hear you.” Of course, Crescent heard every word. They’d deliberately raised their voices for him to hear. His face turned a mottled red and purple as he bellowed, “You’re all being fooled by Camin! He’s not who you think he is! He’s a cunning, treacherous fox!”
Laughter erupted throughout the ballroom. “Did he just call Sir Camin a fox?”
“Sir Camin and a fox? That’s the most hilariously mismatched pairing I’ve ever heard.”
“Indeed. And to accuse someone as upright as him of being two-faced and treacherous is utter nonsense.”
“He’s resorting to such absurd claims now? I’m embarrassed for him.”
Crescent’s face deepened to a furious crimson as the open mockery continued. He looked as if he might explode at any moment.
‘If only he would,’ Enrique thought, clicking his tongue again. ‘That would at least put an end to this spectacle.’
