The Omega Princess and Her Two Leashes - Chapter 4
Chapter 4
“He made particularly radical remarks about the Omega liberation movement at the ball. Do you think he was retaliated against for that?”
“That’s a strong possibility. Not only that, but the Demonas followers who were imprisoned in the castle have also escaped.”
“Oh no. That’s terrible.”
“However, some of the followers who were trying to escape were apprehended before they could get past the castle gate and were captured again.”
“…Captured, you say?”
Arlenrose’s worried face hardened for a moment. Carmin didn’t miss that slight change.
“Why do you ask, Your Highness?”
“…No, I’m just relieved. It’s unfortunate that the followers escaped, but since some of them remain, we can torture them for information and eliminate the rest.”
“I hear they were taken straight to the torture chamber in the basement.”
“I see…”
Arlenrose trailed off, sighed, and started walking again. Carmin watched her profile quietly and matched her pace.
The Omega liberation movement group, Demonas, and their leader, Diabolus.
Their eyes and ears reached even the castle of Fleurose, and their hands extended deep within. Viscount Giovanni, who was punished after making a remark at the ball while in the castle, was proof of that.
They had long suspected that there was a spy in the castle who was passing on information and helping them, but despite their best efforts, they had been unable to apprehend the spy.
To think that they would face such a situation because they couldn’t find a single Omega. It was an incredibly shameful incident for the royal family. It was clear that this would cause another round of chaos.
What would happen next? Arlenrose’s expression darkened with a bad feeling.
As they walked in silence, preoccupied with the heavy matter, someone approached them. It was Neil, the Crown Prince’s aide.
“Your Highness, you’re here.”
“Neil, what is it?”
“His Highness, the Crown Prince, urgently requests your presence.”
“Brother?”
“Yes. It seems you should go straight to his office.”
Arlenrose’s face hardened at Neil’s urging.
“I understand.”
What on earth could it be? Is it related to Demonas again?
Arlenrose quickened his pace, afraid of incurring the Crown Prince’s displeasure if she was late. However, before she could even set foot in the castle, the rain began to pour. In the end, Arlenrose was drenched to the bone, just as Carmin had worried.
* * *
The bad premonition came true in an unexpected way.
“You need Carmin Modreo?”
To Arlenrose’s question, Crown Prince Enrique Vi Fleurose shook his head as if it was a waste of breath to even speak.
“We need to gather as many personnel as possible to search for Demonas’ spy. Isn’t it a waste to use a talent like Carmin Modreo as a mere escort for you?”
Enrique’s expression was full of contempt as he spoke. He was always like this when he saw Arlenrose, but it was especially so now.
Enrique had coveted Carmin Modreo for a long time, and he had been grinding his teeth ever since her younger sister took him away. Because of that, whenever the topic of Carmin came up, he would show his displeasure in every way possible.
“But….”
As Arlenrose tried to say something, Enrique’s eyes sharpened.
“You think so too, don’t you? That’s why you’ve asked him to resign several times?”
“That’s….”
“Surely that wasn’t just a show, and you actually meant it, right?”
At that question, the purple eyes that had been wavering in confusion found their focus.
“Yes. Of course I meant it.”
“Then cooperate obediently. Participate in this search, earn some credit, and then try to persuade Sir Carmin to change his mind.”
“But, I wonder if Sir Carmin would even….”
“You must not understand what I’m saying because you’re just a lowly Omega. I can’t communicate with you because it’s frustrating.”
Enrique cut her off abruptly and raised his voice irritably.
“That’s why I’m telling you to cooperate! I’m telling you to persuade him to participate in the search. That old-fashioned, stubborn Sir Carmin might actually listen to you!”
“Ah….”
Arlenrose opened her mouth but then just closed it again.
“Yes, I understand.”
Seeing this, Enrique sighed as if he was annoyed.
“This is for Sir Carmin Modreo, but also for the kingdom. You’re a princess, so you should be helpful at times like this, shouldn’t you? Especially since you’re usually just a nuisance.”
“…..”
Arlenrose looked at Enrique with eyes that seemed to want to say something, but she soon lowered her gaze.
“Yes, I understand.”
Only then did Enrique show a slightly satisfied expression.
“You already know that negotiations with the Luversiana Empire are currently underway, right?”
“Yes.”
Arlenrose nodded indifferently.
Since the previous generation, the Luversiana Empire had been conquering the four continents and its countries one by one with the goal of unifying the world. Now, the only place they had left was the Kingdom of Fleurose.
However, Fleurose, which was protected by the spirits, resisted with all its might, and the long and arduous war had continued until now. Both sides, judging that further war was impossible, had now entered a ceasefire and were negotiating.
The long era of chaos was finally coming to an end.
“The Empire, which had the ambition to conquer the continent, will not give up easily. By now, they must be desperately searching for weaknesses in our Kingdom of Fleurose in order to gain the upper hand in the negotiations. So be very careful about your conduct. If your existence becomes a weakness and things go wrong, the kingdom will never forgive you.”
Does her existence become a hindrance even at times like this? Arlenrose’s clenched hands trembled.
“Yes, I understand.”
Arlenrose gave the same parrot-like answer again. What else could she say?
There were not many words allowed to a sinner. She was a lowly Omega who was born to be a great calamity to her kingdom and family, so she was always a sinner.
