The Omega Princess and Her Two Leashes - Chapter 24
Chapter 24
“Of course not. In fact, it would be best for me if Your Highness never came again, but since you will come eventually, I might as well ask so I can prepare myself.”
“Good preparation. Make sure you wash thoroughly and dress up nicely. It would be even better if you wore something like naughty underwear.”
“That’s not what I meant when I said preparation…”
“Tonight.”
Leybid narrowed his eyes as he cut her off. Objectively speaking, it was a charming expression that would make many women’s hearts flutter, but to Arlenrose, it was nothing more than a loathsome expression that made her want to slap him right across the face.
“I’ll come at midnight, so open the window and wait for me.”
“Yes, I will.”
Arlenrose nodded, suppressing the urge to unleash a torrent of abuse. The mask of a smile remained plastered on her face until Leybid left the room, falling away as soon as the door closed behind him.

As soon as she stepped out of the room, Arlenrose was immediately met with an unwelcome face.
“Arlenrose.”
It was Crown Prince Enrique. It seemed he had been talking to Camin outside the door while she was in the room.
From Rebecca to Leybid to Enrique, it was turning out to be a tiring day, but Arlenrose smiled again.
“Princess Arlensrose of Fleurose, Prince Enrique of Fleurose, Crown Prince of Fleurose greets you.”
“Spare me the pleasantries.”
Enrique extended his hand towards Arlenrose, who curtsied in response. His expression was unpleasant for some reason.
“Arlenrose, why didn’t you inform me when Sir Mark Fowards failed to escort you yesterday as planned?”
Ah. Arlenrose swallowed her breath for a moment and hastily bowed her head.
Of course, she couldn’t say that she had been deceived by a mercenary named Ray Luciana who had impersonated the escort.
“My apologies. I had made the presumptuous judgment that it would not be necessary to trouble you since it would only be for a day.”
“What did you think was the reason for the absence of any knights to escort you?”
“I thought that there had been some mistake…”
“No, you must have thought that I had deliberately not sent anyone. And that’s why you intended to let it pass without saying anything.”
“….”
The premise was different from reality, but the conclusion drawn from it was not much different.
Even when she had learned that Enrique had sent a mercenary as her escort, she had not questioned it. She had thought it was just like Enrique to scorn her. So, even if she had known that Enrique had not sent any escort at all, the result would have been the same.
“I apologize.”
“I’m not here to hear apologies.”
Enrique’s expression hardened as Arlenrose bowed her head again.
“Arlenrose. It’s true that I find your presence distasteful, but I would never do something as reckless as leaving the princess without an escort because of such personal feelings. I handle official matters officially. I hope you will remember that.”
“….”
Of course. He wouldn’t have sent a mercenary as an escort.
Arlenrose held back a sigh. No matter how many times she thought about it, this was her fault, and it gnawed at her.
“I understand that Sir Mark Fowards was found seriously injured after being attacked by unknown assailants near the Fourth Castle.”
“Yes.”
“From what we have gathered so far, it seems that he encountered trouble while emerging from the underground prison. We have no idea why he was in the underground prison when he should have been escorting you, or who did this to him.”
As Enrique spoke, his eyes narrowed with intense reproach.
“You share some responsibility for this. If you had reported the absence of your escort promptly, Sir Mark Fowards’ search could have begun sooner, and perhaps this unfortunate incident could have been prevented.”
“….”
“I repeat, I’m not here to simply receive apologies. I’m here to remind you to learn from your mistakes when your judgment is clouded by personal feelings. I urge you to make sound judgments in the future.”
“Yes.”
Enrique continued to glare at the still-bowed Arlenrose with a look of disapproval, then sighed and rubbed his furrowed brow.
“We still haven’t found the Demonas’ spy. In the meantime, the spy has had the audacity to enter the underground prison, set it on fire, and escape with the imprisoned Omegas. It is a great disgrace to the royal family.”
Enrique paused and his gaze turned to Camin.
“I am reluctant to release Camin Modreo from his duties as your escort at this time, but I understand that your safety is also at risk. Especially since he has strongly requested it.”
“I am grateful for Your Highness’s kind consideration.”
Camin, who had been listening to their conversation in silence, replied bluntly. Enrique’s lips curled up slightly as if he was somewhat pleased by her words.
“Still, thanks to Sir Camin, we have uncovered a crucial clue. You are indeed a capable individual.”
Arlenrose’s eyes widened at Enrique’s words of praise.
