The Omega Princess and Her Two Leashes - Chapter 122
Chapter 122
She considered telling him to lift his head but decided against it. Instead, she crossed her legs, draping an arm over the back of the sofa. “So, you’re saying you were like that before, but not anymore?”
“Of course! Now, not only do I respect you as an equal, but I truly cherish…”
“Not that part. The part about you being a b4stard.”
“Oh…?” Leybid’s eyes darted around nervously.
He had been a b4stard when they first met. He couldn’t deny that. But was he still a b4stard? He was confused. He’d changed his ways, so he didn’t think he was quite a b4stard anymore, but he doubted that alone would redeem him in her eyes. But if he admitted he was still a b4stard, he’d lose any ground he’d gained.
Admitting he was still a b4stard felt cowardly, while claiming he wasn’t felt arrogant. What was the right answer?
Leybid groaned, his head still bowed. His mind, unusually cluttered, felt like it might explode. This state of uncertainty was unfamiliar. He’d always lived in a world of clear-cut choices.
Like or dislike. That was all there was to it.
No one dared to command him. The only person above him was the Emperor, but even the cruel tyrant was lenient with his only son. That’s why Leybid didn’t mind being scolded by the Emperor.
He’d always lived by his own feelings. So, choosing an answer to please someone else was difficult. Prioritizing another’s feelings, wanting to appear favorable, being cautious, and anxiously awaiting their decision was an entirely new experience.
…Why is he taking so long? Arlenrose tilted her head, puzzled by his prolonged silence. He seemed far more serious than she’d anticipated.
“I will… at least to you, Princess, I will do my utmost… to not be a b4stard.”
Oh. Arlenrose pursed her lips at his hesitant, yet earnest reply.
The silence stretched, and Leybid, growing uneasy, finally lifted his head.
“I will make up for all the wrongs I’ve done to you. I’ll treat you with the utmost respect, surround you with the finest, most precious things. I promise to get you anything you desire. I can do that for you. You know I have the means.”
Of course he did. Arlenrose thought to herself, continuing to watch him expectantly. Taking her silence as encouragement, Leybid closed his eyes tightly.
“I will never do anything you don’t want me to do. I will never force myself on you again.”
His declaration was resolute, but the content was appalling.
“Well, that’s just basic human decency…” Arlenrose started to retort, then frowned.
No, that wasn’t entirely true. Though his words were shocking, it was likely only because he was a Luversiana Alpha, not a Fleurosa one, that he could even say such a thing.
She sighed, glancing at the ceiling before turning back to Leybid, sitting up straight. “Your Majesty, you haven’t answered my question.”
“Oh…?” What was it again? His gaze drifted, lost. Arlenrose enunciated each word slowly, a slight smile playing on her lips. “Your Majesty, why do you want to marry me?”
“That’s…” His eyes flickered with uncertainty, then focused. His sapphire-blue eyes shone brighter than ever. Looking directly at Arlenrose, he spoke with sincerity and gravity.
“Because I… like you. Very, very much.”
