The Omega Princess and Her Two Leashes - Chapter 117
Chapter 117
“Oh, it’s the knight of Arlenrose.”
Camin turned his head at the familiar words. As expected, Leybid stood within his line of sight, but instead of his usual playful smile, he wore a strangely hostile expression.
“Your Highness, greetings.” Camin offered the same greeting as before, unfazed.
Leybid frowned slightly at the informal salutation. Previously, such a greeting wouldn’t have bothered him, but now, it was inexplicably irritating.
“Yes, greetings to you too, though I am an unrespected crown prince.” Leybid’s words were laced with a touch of defiance, born from his irritation. Camin’s brow furrowed slightly.
“Your Highness, you are aware of why I do not formally address you.”
“Yes, I know. I know very, very well. So, what did I say? I merely stated a fact, that I am unrespected, nothing more.”
“Pardon?”
“Just saying.”
“Ah…” Camin’s gaze wandered, bewildered by the childish provocation, unbecoming of a crown prince. Leybid felt a pang of embarrassment, but stubbornly lifted his chin, refusing to back down. Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, Camin quickly regained his composure.
“I see. Your Highness, is your health restored?”
“I’m fine. Absolutely, tremendously fine. But why are you concerned about my health? You don’t even respect me.” Despite recognizing his own childishness, Leybid couldn’t stop his petulant needling. Camin simply nodded, seemingly unsurprised.
“I’m glad to hear that. And Your Highness, my concern is only natural.”
“Hmm… And why is that natural?”
“Because we were out together, you ate the same street food as I, and you became ill, even fainting. I had no idea Your Highness was so delicate as to be affected by such food. It was my oversight not to have anticipated this and dissuaded you more firmly.”
Leybid’s tightly pressed lips trembled. Being called delicate by Camin was strangely humiliating. He suppressed his rising frustration and forced a casual shrug. “No, I’m not usually like this. This has never happened before.”
“Your Highness, it’s natural that this has never happened before. You’ve never had street food before.”
“….” Leybid’s lips trembled again at the polite retort. While true, he couldn’t simply concede. Camin’s tone, subtly reminiscent of one admonishing a child, only fueled his annoyance.
“No, no. I know my own body better than anyone. It’s clear that the crepe and I simply didn’t agree. It will never happen again, so you can rest assured.” Leybid forced strength into his voice, attempting to sound firm, but Camin shook his head sternly.
“Your Highness, I have frequently ventured out with Her Highness and sampled all manner of street food, and I have never experienced such a reaction. To faint from an incompatible food is not a common occurrence.”
Leybid flinched and took a step back, not from a lack of rebuttal, but from a sudden surge of unexpected emotion. So, Camin had frequently ventured out with Arlenrose and sampled all manner of street food… in other words, they had dated…? Was this… boasting? No, no, that couldn’t be. Camin believed Arlenrose to be an Alpha. An Alpha flaunting dates with another Alpha to a fellow Alpha was absurd.
Leybid shook his head internally and looked up, only to meet Camin’s eyes, filled with what seemed like pity. “It appears Your Highness’s constitution is far more sensitive and delicate than you believe… It would be wise to exercise greater caution in the future.”
Leybid’s gaping mouth snapped shut. It was strange. The more he spoke with Camin, the more inadequate he felt. He couldn’t shake the feeling that Camin Modreo was subtly toying with him, even more so than Enrique Vi Fleurose. It must be his imagination. It had to be. But…
