Leybid’s expression crumbled, clearly at a loss for words. Looking directly at him, Arlenrose popped a cookie into her mouth and crunched down.

“Come to think of it, your previous statement was also contradictory. You treated this princess as nothing more than a body, offered up without rights or dignity.”

Before she could finish chewing, another cookie followed. While she ate, Leybid waved his hands frantically.

“No, Princess. As I said before, I didn’t really mean it like that…”

“You treated me that way. In reality.” Arlenrose spoke deliberately. Another cookie went in, crunching loudly. The deliberate sound seemed to freeze Leybid in place.

“Oh, don’t misunderstand. I’m not bringing this up now to argue or to demand an apology. I never expected the kind of treatment you speak of, as a princess of the realm.”

Another cookie disappeared into her mouth. She usually disliked sweets and rarely ate so many cookies in a row, but she didn’t seem to mind now. Like Leybid with his cooled tea, her attention was elsewhere, dulling her sense of taste, though for a different reason.

“It’s just… it’s funny. Barging into my room without knocking, yelling, locking me in a closet, starving me… were those actions any better than using me as a means to satisfy your lust?”

Arlenrose brushed the cookie crumbs from her hands and gave the still-frozen Leybid a wry smile.

“Since when have you treated me with such regard? Just… continue as you always have. I’m nothing more than a plaything in your grasp, thanks to your blackmail.”

Leybid remained silent, staring blankly at her. His sapphire eyes seemed wounded, which Arlenrose found even more amusing.

Why the sudden kindness? Perhaps that was the question she truly wanted to ask. She had just recently poisoned him for her own purposes. She had been prepared for the consequences. Yet, he not only seemed to overlook it but was even trying to help her further.

Arlenrose found this change in Leybid unsettling. It made her deeply uncomfortable. Like his kisses, which had become soft and gentle. She preferred being treated as less than an object. A harsh price was far easier to bear than unearned kindness. So, Arlenrose decided to change her approach.

“Therefore, Your Highness, please clearly state the price for your alibi and further assistance.”

At her words, his wavering blue eyes regained focus. “Price?”

“Yes. Please refrain from saying that helping me is enough. And please stop looking so satisfied with a single cookie.”

Leybid bit his lip for a moment before asking, “What kind of price… how should I ask for it?”

“Why are you asking such a thing now? It’s obvious, isn’t it? What else is possible between us?” Arlenrose shrugged, feigning genuine confusion, then lowered her gaze. A knowing smile spread across her otherwise impassive face. “Well… shall I suck your d*ck, Your Highness?”

Leybid visibly flinched. What had he just heard? Such blatant words, utterly unbelievable coming from Arlenrose. Her calm, elegant smile made it all the more surreal.
