The Omega Princess and Her Two Leashes - Chapter 104
Chapter 104
“I… I have no objections.”
Enrique suppressed a surge of frustration at her hesitant words. He understood why she was acting this way. Whenever he barged into her chambers like this, she was always reprimanded, so of course she wanted to avoid him. The foolish Omega was a narrow-minded coward.
But he couldn’t understand why Crown Prince Leybid was being so protective of Arlenrose, preventing him from speaking with her. It was incredibly suspicious.
Lost in his suspicions, Enrique finally spoke. “Then I’ll just ask here. Arlenrose, I heard you were out with His Highness yesterday. Tell me, where were you and what were you doing while Graham’s mansion was under attack?”
Arlenrose flinched at his accusatory tone. “Well, that is…”
“Quickly.”
Arlenrose’s lips trembled as she opened her mouth to speak. At that moment, Leybid suddenly interjected. “Ah, I believe I can answer that for her!”
Enrique’s gaze shifted to Leybid. “Your Highness?”
“Yes. I happened to be with her, after all. It seems I made the right decision to stay.” Leybid gestured to the opposite sofa with a flourish. “Here, Your Highness. This might take a while, so you should sit down.”
He was pointing to the seat next to Arlenrose. From there, Enrique would have a clear view of Leybid’s expressions, but Arlenrose’s face would be harder to read. Enrique felt a prickle of unease, but he sat down. As soon as he settled onto the sofa, Leybid suddenly lowered his gaze and blushed.
“This is… rather embarrassing to explain.”
What is he doing now? Enrique’s brow furrowed. “It’s alright. Go ahead.”
At Enrique’s urging, Leybid began to speak, his voice hesitant. “Well, we went to Fleurose and strolled through the market. There were so many delicious-looking foods. The aromas were simply irresistible, and I couldn’t help myself. I bought one of those… crepes.”
“No…” Enrique grimaced and looked at Arlenrose. “So, Your Highness bought street food from the market… is that what you’re saying?”
Leybid waved his hands frantically. “Oh! Of course, Her Highness and Sir Camin tried to stop me. They insisted I shouldn’t eat it. It was entirely my fault. I was overcome by curiosity and my appetite.”
“…I see. Very well. Continue.”
“Anyway, that crepe… it was quite delicious at the time, but as Her Highness predicted, it upset my stomach. My body, accustomed to the fine cuisine of the palace, couldn’t handle such… common street food. So…” Leybid trailed off, covering his face with his hands as if overcome with shame.
“I fainted!”
Enrique’s expression hardened at the unexpected word. “…Fainted?”
“Yes. I know it’s hard to believe, but I collapsed right there and lost consciousness. Her Highness and Sir Camin were quite alarmed. Sir Camin immediately went to find a physician, and Her Highness stayed behind to administer first aid while waiting for him and the physician to return… but…” Leybid let out an exaggerated sigh, lowering his hands and lifting his head.
“As you know, Your Highness, that’s when the attack happened. The explosions were deafening, the ground shook… it startled me awake.” He wrapped his arms around himself, as if reliving the terrifying moment. “It was truly frightening! Explosions nearby, people fleeing… I couldn’t just stay there! I jumped up and ran. Her Highness, naturally, was startled and chased after me, and as a result, we both…” Leybid trailed off again, his face flushing. Enrique, exercising extreme patience, waited for him to continue, but finally prompted him.
“And what happened?”
Leybid looked down, ashamed. “We… got lost.”
