The Omega Princess and Her Two Leashes - Chapter 101
Chapter 101
“Hmm, but are we certain Sir Camin is even taking pheromone suppressants?”
“True. Perhaps he’s dallying with an omega somewhere we don’t know about…”
“Even if he is taking suppressants without suffering side effects… well… he is Sir Camin. I wouldn’t be surprised.”
“Ah, yes. He does seem like the type.”
“A noble, dominant alpha like him is bound to be different, wouldn’t you agree?”
“Indeed. Just because Sir Camin doesn’t experience side effects doesn’t mean other alphas won’t.”
“It still makes me uneasy. I wouldn’t want to take them.”
“I agree. Not that I’d have any need to.”
“Oh my, are you implying someone does need them but is simply too apprehensive to take them?”
“Not at all. You’re being overly sensitive. Is there anyone here who would even need pheromone suppressants?”
“Precisely. We nobles have no need for such things.”
Their outrage and shock over the Demonas incident quickly dissipated, replaced by frivolous gossip. Such was the fickle unity of the nobility.
Only three remained unsmiling: Derek Giovanni, still fuming with anger; Crescent Modreo, currently tasked with hunting down the Demonas spies; and Crown Prince Enrique Vi Fleurose.
The pheromone suppressant business wouldn’t normally be booming. The Fleurose royal family, however, had secretly purchased vast quantities, bolstering Graham’s coffers. All to conceal the truth: Princess Arlenrose Vi Fleurose was an omega.
But that wasn’t the only reason Enrique couldn’t smile. He was troubled by how the omegas had acquired so many of the expensive and rare suppressants. Someone came to mind. The royal family had always hoarded a massive stockpile of the suppressants, fearing the repercussions if the truth about Arlenrose were revealed. Any member of the royal family could easily obtain them.
“Surely not…”
No, it was a preposterous assumption. Enrique tried to convince himself, but his pen nervously scratched at the paper.
“Is that really what matters right now?! We should be devising a plan to eradicate the Demonas!” Derek Giovanni’s sudden outburst silenced the chatter.
“Indeed. The conversation has strayed.” Someone nodded in agreement, while others remained indifferent.
“But honestly, isn’t it rather fortunate what happened to Graham? A mere commoner trying to monopolize an omega? His greed was his undoing.”
“I agree. He received the punishment he deserved.”
“The problem is that those omegas dared to deliver that punishment. Those insolent wretches… if we leave them unchecked, they’ll only grow bolder.”
“Precisely. If we hadn’t been so lenient with Diabolus’s wicked games and apprehended them sooner, they wouldn’t have dared to commit such an act.”
“But do we really need to devise a plan to eradicate the Demonas? They’re just omegas. We can simply crush them.”
“Exactly. They only succeeded this time because their target was a lowly commoner. They wouldn’t stand a chance against us nobles.”
As everyone nodded in agreement, someone spoke with a grave expression.
“We shouldn’t underestimate them. There are reports they used some strange, inexplicable power.”
“Inexplicable power…? What do you mean?”
“The fire they started… it couldn’t be extinguished, no matter how much water they poured on it.”
“What…? You mean it was a fire that couldn’t be put out with water?”
“Yes, precisely.”
“How could omegas wield such power?”
“There must be some mistake.”
“Are you suggesting they started the fire with magic? Preposterous. Magic is a power wielded by only a select few, even among alpha nobles…”
Or perhaps, a fire imbued with the power of a spirit.
Enrique’s pen snapped. Startled, the others widened their eyes.
“Oh my, Your Highness. What’s wrong?”
“It seems Your Highness is quite upset about this incident.”
“Of course. The omegas have challenged the authority of the royals and nobles. It’s only natural for His Highness, the Crown Prince, to be enraged.”
“We must swiftly eradicate them…”
