However, sadly, his words sounded only like his dying screams.
The emperor, who had been watching the scene, raised his hands and started clapping.
“Beautiful, absolutely beautiful!”
Empress Adrianne bowed deeply before speaking.
“Thank you, Your Majesty.”
“But, Empress, I have many enemies. Though this demonic weapon is powerful, can it burn them all?”
The empress gestured, and a man in a black cloak and white mask slowly walked out of the shadows.
He carried a large box in his hands.
The man in the white mask placed the box at the emperor’s feet and opened the lid.
“Ohh!”
The box was filled with black orbs, each about the size of an egg. The man in the white mask spoke.
“Your Majesty, with this amount of black orbs, you could bring down an entire castle with just a flick of your finger.”
“How many of these boxes do we have?”
The man in the white mask smiled.
“We have prepared twenty boxes. And if Your Majesty wishes, we can produce even more.”
The emperor placed his hand on the shoulder of the man in the white mask and laughed heartily.
“Excellent, truly excellent!”
The emperor laughed loudly as he embraced Rollise’s shoulder. Rollise also laughed gleefully, and the empress wore a satisfied smile.
The emperor, returning to the banquet hall, made a proud declaration.
“Today seems to be the happiest day of my life. I wish to share this joy with my loyal subjects. So, listen well to another piece of joyful news! I hereby declare my first son, Charles Arpend, as Crown Prince. And the woman suitable to be his consort is none other than this beautiful lady, Rollise Lebeloia. I officially announce their engagement!”

Having slipped out of the banquet hall alone, Radis first went to retrieve Regia from the armory.
As she had requested, Regia was lying on a soft cushion.
While Radis was collecting Regia, she noticed the attendant looking at her with a very curious expression.
Radis thought she understood why.
She was probably the only person in the world who would ask for a sword to be placed on a cushion.
‘Oh, this is embarrassing…’
Ignoring the curious look from the attendant, Radis secured Regia to her belt. At that moment, Regia’s urgent voice echoed in her mind.
[ Radis, Radis! ]
‘What?’
[ It’s Alexis! ]
‘What? Where?’
[ I sensed her faint presence! But it wasn’t her. She must be in the direction they came from. ]
‘Let’s go.’
Radis immediately pushed aside her thoughts and started walking in the direction Regia indicated.
Moving stealthily through the shadows between the shining buildings, she passed through an undisclosed dark garden and unused buildings, eventually arriving at an abandoned spire.
Regia spoke,
[ I can sense her now. Alexis is down there! ]
Standing before the darkened spire, hidden behind the splendid buildings of the imperial palace, Radis felt a strange sense of déjà vu.
‘The secret underground chamber beneath the imperial palace…’
The scene before her eyes reminded her of the ghost stories Daniel had told her as a child and the tales she had shared with the maids at the marquis’s estate.
‘Beyond the beautiful, shining buildings of the imperial palace, in the deepest place, there is an unlit spire. And in that underground chamber lies the darkest secret of the palace. That secret is a girl who was once called a witch…’
Radis was shocked by the truth indicated by the story she had known for so long.
Daniel had already told her where Alexis was.
‘I see.’
Radis hid herself in the shadows of the tree and tried to find the entrance.
There was no need to search for it with difficulty.
A group of people was already noisily fighting at what seemed to be the entrance to the basement.
‘What’s going on?’
Radis observed the situation with puzzled eyes.
At first, it was difficult to distinguish them since they were all dressed in black as if they had planned it in advance.
But upon closer inspection, one group wore tight, streamlined outfits typical of assassins, while the other wore long, draping black hoods.
Regia briefly assessed the situation.
[ The hooded ones, they’re all going to die… ]
Radis agreed.
The assassins seemed to be highly skilled.
Each time their needle-like sharp blades glinted in the darkness, a hooded figure fell.
It appeared that the hooded figures were ordinary people who hadn’t even properly learned self-defense.
Regia stuttered.
[ The leader… is just watching people die… ]
Radis replied cautiously,
‘Regia, whether it’s those guarding Alexis here or those targeting this place, they’re all enemies.’
[ Wow, Big Sis…! I respect you! ]
Soon, all the hooded figures were down, and the assassins quickly descended into the basement without looking back.
Radis immediately rose and entered the entrance where the assassins had disappeared.
Keeping a certain distance from the assassins, she slowly descended the stairs, instinctively covering her nose and mouth with her hand.
‘Miasma…?’
The closer she got to the basement, the stronger the demonic energy of miasma she felt.
It was a thick, oppressive presence, similar to what she had felt in the forbidden region before it changed.
And it was even more vivid, as if it could explode if ignited into flames.
Amidst it, she heard the clash of weapons and desperate screams. There was also the sound of someone laughing.
“Hahahaha! I finally found it!”
