The Art of Reforming Villainous Men - Chapter 18
Chapter 18

She couldn’t afford to waver from such provocations so soon.
‘I said I would do anything.’
Kissing the very man responsible for her family’s downfall—surely, she could manage that much.
After only a brief hesitation, Adeline kissed Jack.
For a moment, she thought she saw him smile.
But she couldn’t be certain.
Because as soon as she pulled away, Jack immediately wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her back against him.
Their bodies pressed together once more as his hand lightly grasped her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze.
His gray eyes, tinged with hints of silver, were dark and clouded.
Adeline couldn’t quite describe what she saw in them, but one thing was clear.
Her clumsy attempt at a kiss had only pulled the trigger.
“I don’t know where you learned that, but your teacher was terrible.”
Jack’s lips curved into a smirk, but there was no laughter in his voice.
If anything, his tone was deeper, heavier—rougher than usual.
“You’ll need to relearn how to kiss, Adeline.”
And with that, Jack kissed her again.
His kiss was just like his voice.
Deep. Heavy. And unbearably rough.
At some point, the hand on her chin slid to cradle her cheek, his touch now paradoxically gentle. His fingers brushed her skin, stroking her softly as their lips met again.
And this time, the kiss deepened.
The slow, teasing movements quickly turned into something far more consuming.
Adeline found herself clinging to him, like someone drowning in water, grasping desperately at the lips that consumed her.
A damp, intimate sound escaped between them as their breaths mingled.
By the time she regained some semblance of awareness, her chest was rising and falling rapidly.
Was a kiss supposed to be this overwhelming?
‘I can’t breathe.’
It had never been like this with Julian.
Her ex-husband had always forcefully invaded her mouth before pulling away, indifferent.
People always spoke of kisses that could make them melt.
To Adeline, those descriptions had always been meaningless—
Until now.
The lack of air made her lightheaded, and her tongue tingled faintly. Finally, she understood.
At some point, Jack had pulled away, his thumb now pressing against her wet lips.
“You need to breathe through your nose. Looks like we’ve got a long way to go.”
After all, isn’t it a lover’s duty to teach these things?
Whether it was a joke or a genuine remark, Adeline couldn’t tell.
His voice lacked any indication of amusement—or pleasure.
Uncertain, she instinctively grabbed his wrist and murmured:
“Even if you don’t like me, you can’t back out now.”
“You’re one to talk.”
Jack let out a scoff, more of an exasperated breath than actual laughter, before tilting his head.
His lips pressed against the tip of her chin.
Then, they slid downward along her skin.
From her chin to her ear.
From her ear to her neck.
Finally, his lips trailed lower, brushing against the bare skin of her shoulder.
And the moment he finally reached the delicate, sensitive flesh—
“Ah…!”
A breathy sound escaped her lips as she instinctively tightened her grip around him.
And because of that—Jack didn’t see it.
‘Now, we’ve finally come face to face.’
The Adeline who should have been clinging to him unknowingly…
Was instead smiling over his shoulder.
At that moment, Jack, who had been acting without the slightest hesitation, suddenly froze in place.
It wasn’t because he had suddenly decided to preserve his dignity—no, that would have been a meaningless excuse.
The only reason was the unexpected intruder standing beyond the glass window.
‘If he had arrived just a moment later, my plan would have been ruined.’
Fortunately, the timing had been just right—barely.
Adeline silently pictured the uninvited guest standing on the other side of the glass.
Melancholic blue eyes and silver hair like moonlight.
A nobleman who, despite his tall, solid build, carried an air of gentle refinement.
‘Milleinberg Ishmire Belov.’
It was him.
