Savage Forest - Chapter 146.2
“Oh, the name.”
Enya hesitated before finally speaking shyly.
After hearing the name, Piache smiled broadly. Her face lit up like the spring sunshine.
“That’s a wonderful name.”
After the lesson that day, Tarhan came to pick up Enya.
“I’ll clean up, so you two go ahead.”
Piache waved her hand dismissively, trying to send them off first.
But neither Tarhan nor Enya had any intention of leaving. Despite Piache’s repeated refusals, Tarhan ended up carrying her on his back all the way to the village. Enya, meanwhile, took the light bag that Piache had brought and led the children back to the village.
Recently, Piache’s legs had been bothering her, making it difficult for her to travel long distances.
Carried on Tarhan’s back, Piache kept muttering in embarrassment.
“The education hall really needs to be finished soon… I can’t keep relying on you like this.”
Piache’s lessons were being held in a nearby open area until the education hall was completed. The distance was farther than expected, so Tarhan and Enya had been helping her with the commute.
Tarhan didn’t respond to Piache’s words. In fact, it seemed like he even snorted.
“If you don’t want to owe me, maybe you should get your arthritis treated.”
Enya found the relationship between Piache and Tarhan fascinating.
Even though Tarhan spoke so bluntly, he treated Piache as if she was his parent. In fact, the space for Piache’s new pharmacy and her house were built before their own house.
But Enya understood his feelings. The two of them, having lost their parents in Aquilea, had relied on Piache more than anyone else. Both of them truly hoped that Piache would live out her remaining years in Nervana peacefully and comfortably.
After the children scattered to find their parents, and Piache was settled into her new pharmacy, Tarhan and Enya set off to spend the evening together.
The two walked hand in hand, casually chatting about the day’s events.
Enya expected him to lead her to the familiar space by the sap tree, and she felt a little excitement building in her chest.
But today, something felt different. The direction he was leading her in was not the usual one.
Feeling curious, Enya looked up at Tarhan’s face.
Normally, after a long day of work, they would head to the bath near the sap tree to wash off the dust and sweat. Recently, the bath had been opened to others, making it difficult for the two of them to have a quiet, private moment.
Still, they would wash separately in gender-segregated areas and then meet afterward to hold hands and stroll through the surrounding forest. At times, they would find secluded spots, and it would lead to another bath.
‘Why are we going this way today…?’
Enya followed Tarhan, filled with curiosity and anticipation.
He carefully stepped forward, guiding her slowly, making sure she didn’t stumble.
When they reached their destination, Enya’s eyes widened in surprise. It was the site where their house was being built.
The space that had once been covered with shrubs and piles of trees had now been cleared. As Tarhan removed the last large leaf that had been blocking their view, he casually asked Enya,
“How do you like it?”
Enya couldn’t hide her smile as she looked at the completely revealed house.
In the midst of the dense forest, a modestly sized house stood. It was a peaceful space, surrounded by old trees covered with lush green moss.
Their house was finally complete. It was entirely their own space, just for Enya and Tarhan.
Enya stared at the house in awe, unable to take her eyes off it, and then suddenly threw her arms around Tarhan. He laughed at her reaction.
“You shouldn’t like it this much already…”
He murmured, taking her hand and hurriedly leading her inside.
Just like the perfect exterior, the interior of the house was equally impressive.
Enya marveled at the house’s interior, asking questions as she moved around, completely absorbed in her admiration.
“When did you make those dishes?”
Even Tarhan, who was usually reserved, seemed excited as he took her hand and led her around the house. It seemed like he had a lot he wanted to show her.
Enya’s eyes widened as she gazed at the kitchen, which was connected to a water stream coming from outside. She was amazed to learn that fresh water from the sap tree bath flowed into the houses. Enya stood there stunned when she thought that they didn’t have to go to the well every day.
“Of course, it’s not just for us, so we’ll have to use the water separately,”
Tarhan pointed to a wooden bucket nearby and explained.
“But still, not having to go to the well every day will make things much easier.”
Enya felt a rush of excitement. She was so thrilled she almost couldn’t speak.
Then, her gaze fell on several layers of leather placed in one corner of the room, and she noticed pillows that seemed to be stuffed with soft feathers.
It was clear it was the bedroom.
After realizing this, Enya’s face suddenly became incredibly warm.
Just then, Tarhan’s large hand grazed her arm. His hand slowly slid down her arm, eventually finding her hand, and they locked fingers.
“We’ve washed up, so how about we get some rest now?”
Tarhan smiled meaningfully as he took Enya’s hand and led her to the bedroom.
