Savage Forest - Chapter 144.2
Kiyan paused for a moment before continuing.
“However, if Enya wishes to search for the remaining Perugia soldiers, Avisak, and the personal soldiers of Servia’s family, we will do as you say.”
At Kiyan’s serious tone, everyone in the group turned their attention to Enya.
The elderly Lehijin, who had been dozing in the corner as if he weren’t part of their meeting, lifted his head.
Several pairs of eyes turned toward Enya at once.
“We’ve decided to leave everything to you, Enya. How to handle this body and the other enemy corpses we haven’t found yet…”
Kiyan spoke firmly as she opened her lips.
“Enya, you will decide.”
It seemed as though only Enya could make this decision, and everyone’s eyes were fixed on her lips.
It was the first time this had happened since rebuilding Nervana Forest village.
“What, what will you do, Enya?”
Jahan whispered anxiously.
Enya closed her lips tightly. She looked at the two corpses in front of her.
In a way, this was the first real test of what Kiyan had taught her about leadership.
What bothered her was that this decision didn’t seem to concern the people of Nervana Forest as much.
At that moment, Tarhan, who was holding her hand, suddenly tightened his grip.
Unknowingly, Enya looked up and met his gaze.
He formed words with his lips but said nothing aloud. His quick, silent message was something that only Enya could understand. Strangely, it felt as if she had heard his voice clearly, as though he had spoken directly into her ear.
“Do what you think is best.”
Enya’s throat moved as if she had gained strength from those words, and the slight trembling in her body gradually stopped.
Slowly, Enya opened her lips.
“I understand.”
She lifted her face and spoke slowly and clearly.
“There’s no need to continue searching for other enemy corpses. But we should make sure to find Avisak’s body.”
Lehijin nodded in satisfaction with his eyes closed.
“You’re preparing for the future. If she’s alive, there will certainly be consequences…”
Kiyan muttered. Yaru nodded, and Nihitan approached her, delivering the news.
“This search could take a while. It might be best if I handle it.”
Enya found Yaru’s words somewhat strange.
Normally, when a search party was formed, Yaru was the one to insist on taking the lead, and it would be a relief if she didn’t cause trouble. On this day, even the usually active Piache seemed unusually quiet. Nihitan accepted Yaru’s suggestion with ease.
“Of course, good.”
Nihitan replied briefly and then naturally pulled Yaru’s waist. His broad hand rubbed her still slim stomach.
“Wah, are we really going down there?”
Jahan wiped the cold sweat from his brow after the earlier tense situation and shouted at Nihitan.
Nihitan nodded and gave Jahan a hint.
“If you want to follow, go ahead. If you’re going to live in the forest, you’ll need to learn its geography.”
Enya let out a sigh of relief as she watched Jahan excitedly follow behind Nihitan. She was starting to feel certain that Jahan’s friendly attachment to Nihitan and Yaru’s family wasn’t just because of Yasmin.
Seeing Jahan, who had been a bit down after Silanda’s departure, now lively as if he had found a new family, gave Enya relief.
‘Once Silanda returns with the leper den people from Aquilea, Jahan will be even more energized…’
Enya thought positively, placing her hands on her waist. There was still so much to do.
“Enya, what will you do with these bodies? Are you planning to bury them there too?”
Piache asked. Leroi immediately answered.
“I’ll take care of it.”
“No.”
Enya quickly stopped Leroi.
The young man, who had been hoping to make a good impression on Piache after finally gaining her attention, seemed disappointed and confused.
Enya spoke to Leroi, feeling a bit sorry yet firm.
“I’ll do it. Personally.”
Enya could feel Tarhan’s gaze on her as he approached. Not only him, but others present seemed slightly shocked that she decided to handle the bodies herself.
But sometimes, one action speaks louder than a hundred words.
“Hoo…”
Enya paused for a moment and steadied her breath, then raised one hand with her palm facing up, gathering some strength as she lifted it.
At her gesture, sprouts suddenly appeared from the mound of dirt where the two corpses lay. The sprouts quickly grew into thick foliage, intertwining in a rope-like form. Slowly, the plants began to move the bodies in one direction.
It was as if the plants were following Enya’s guidance with every motion of her hand.
Seeing this, the others took a few steps back, shocked by what they were witnessing.
Everyone watched with a mixture of awe, surprise, and shock that they couldn’t quite control.
