Enya bit her lip tightly to hold back the tears that suddenly welled up.
Recently, she had been struggling with sensitive emotional changes. It wasn’t just the sudden rise in desires.
For some strange reason, just seeing Tarhan’s shadow would make her tear up. When she heard his firm voice issuing commands or saw his back, carrying all his burdens without giving up, or when she looked at his slightly hunched back, she felt a pain in her heart, as if someone was squeezing it.
Sadness? Definitely not.
Happiness? She wasn’t sure.
It was just that seeing him made her cry. This emotion was more about the comfort that they had finally found a place to put down roots after overcoming all trials, and the overwhelming excitement for the peace they could finally enjoy.
‘How foolish…’
She thought, realizing that she was feeling this kind of peace even though the baby hadn’t been safely born yet. She traced small circles on his back with her fingers and murmured.
“Hey, Tarhan. I could walk, you know…”
“No.”
Tarhan replied softly, as if it was a ridiculous suggestion.
Enya recalled the reason she was being carried on his back.
It was too long a distance to walk. But holding hands wasn’t an option either, as the pain and stiffness in her legs were unbearable.
The moment she stood up, she had wobbled, and Tarhan had caught her, slightly furrowing his brow as he looked at her. Then, without saying anything, he suddenly squatted down and offered his back.
The thought that all of this was due to her sudden desire was enough to make Enya’s cheeks flush once more like the sunset.
But when she thought about it, it had been the same in Aquilea. Whenever she was alone with Tarhan, her feet rarely touched the ground. Whether it was because her legs were tired, he carried her or held her, it was rare for her feet to get dirty with dirt.
“If you’re tired, sleep, Enya.”
Tarhan’s soft voice made the entire length of his back hummed along. Enya found herself strangely stable so she fidgeted slightly again.
Tarhan’s back vibrated again, and she realized he was silently laughing.
“You’d better sleep. After all, you’ll just wake me up again at dawn.”
His voice was mischievous.
As soon as Enya heard this, she nearly leaped up like a rabbit caught in a trap.
It was clear now, he had been enjoying this situation lately.
At first, Tarhan had been slightly taken aback by the sudden changes in her desires and the concerns about the baby. But over time, with the advice from others and the great relationship they had, his attitude had shifted.
‘Now, Tarhan is clearly enjoying it too…’
Enya couldn’t smile or frown, so she buried her face in his broad back.
It was definitely better than the time in Aquilea when, being pregnant, she couldn’t move and was confined to her bed.
But there was an issue with Tarhan just blindly meeting her every desire. The main problem was that Enya had almost no control over her urges right now.
Of course, it wasn’t that Tarhan was ignoring the baby and was only focused on the relationship.
Tarhan made her and the baby’s safety his top priority in any situation. Even in the heat of passion, Tarhan would notice the pulling in her belly before Enya did and stop the movement. He tended to avoid deeper positions, like when her legs were on his shoulders.
‘We both got too excited today…’
Enya pouted slightly and rubbed her cheek against his back.
She was the one who couldn’t stop herself from getting wet from her desires, yet it was always him who had to control them.
She remembered the moment after they had finished, when Tarhan sighed deeply and briefly pulled her into a hug, and once again, her cheeks reddened. If her body had been able to keep up, he would have been ready to continue.
It was clear that he was enjoying the current situation. The very idea that he might feel burdened by their relationship was definitely impossible.
Lost in these thoughts, Enya’s slender legs bounced up and down with each of Tarhan’s steps.
At some point, she seemed to drift into a light sleep.
After a short nap, Enya’s eyes suddenly opened and she saw the village entrance.
“Tarhan, put me down now.”
She quickly tapped his shoulder.
His shoulder vibrated, and without even seeing it, Enya could feel that he was silently laughing.
His body slowly descended. Enya quickly jumped off him as he neared the ground. But she couldn’t bring herself to pull away from Tarhan’s hand, and she kept holding it as they walked toward the village.
Then, an unusual sight caught her eye. The villagers, who usually went about their work freely, were all gathered at the meeting place.
“There you are….!”
Someone spotted Enya and waved at her.
It was Jahan. He quickly ran toward them and breathlessly shouted.
“Hurry, Enya. A, a body has been found.”
Jahan hesitated before adding,
“I, I think it’s Servia.”
Enya’s heart sank at the sound, and she quickly exchanged a brief glance with Tarhan.
