Savage Forest - Chapter 121.2
And maddeningly, every time Servia looked at Enya and Tarhan, she found herself caught in this internal conflict.
‘I already have everything, so why! Why…!’
In Aquilea, a simple gesture from Servia could bring any man to his knees. Yet, this proud woman was intensely longing for the innocence of those two foreign youths.
Their purity.
The emotion called love.
She had developed an infatuation for feelings she could never have, no matter how much she lived. As a result, Servia had become twisted.
Now, water streamed down her cheeks.
Servia shook Enya violently, using the roughest means she could muster.
She began to throw a tantrum.
Now, she had nothing left to lose. She already knew that pretending to be noble, raising her head, and looking down on Enya with disdain was futile. So, Servia unleashed her fury, fighting desperately to mask her emotions and refusing to admit she was wrong.
“Give it to me! Give it! How dare you make me jealous? How dare you! A cripple like you…! And now you’re trying to take everything away from me…? You think you can? You filthy insect!”
The two began to tumble again without restraint.
Enya and Servia rolled wildly between the hard rocks and the grass growing on top. The sound of the waterfall pounded directly in their ears.
“Huff, kuh…!”
Enya knew that if she rolled just a little further, she would fall directly into the waterfall. As Servia yanked on her hair, Enya responded in kind, grabbing Servia’s hair. However, she couldn’t withstand the force of Servia’s tantrum and rolled to the opposite side. The tips of Enya’s hair brushed against the cliff.
She gasped, trying to get up, but Servia was already on top of her.
“Hu, huff…!”
The weight of Servia’s body pressed down on her neck, making it difficult to breathe. To make matters worse, the rain obscured her vision entirely. She couldn’t even see Servia’s face properly.
‘Please…!’
She didn’t want to die here.
She didn’t want to end her life at the hands of this insane, greedy woman. There were still so many things she had to do.
She needed to prove that she was the Daughter of the Forest.
She wanted to repay the kindness shown to her by Old Lady Piache and Ihita, and the people of Nervana.
She wanted to give a better life to the lepers, including Senu, Silanda, and Jahan.
…And above all, she wanted to see him again.
There were things she needed to say to him.
That their child had returned. That they could start again.
She had to tell him that, despite everything they had been through, they could rise again. But at that moment, Servia was far too strong, and Enya was utterly exhausted.
With her eyes tightly shut, Enya pushed against Servia one last time.
Then, it happened.
Suddenly, Servia’s body lurched downwards. In that instant, Enya quickly rolled to the side, breaking free from her grasp. In a desperate attempt, Servia reached for the spear she had dropped, though her vision was blurred.
“Please stop! Mother!”
A familiar voice rang out.
Enya’s eyes widened as rainwater rushed in.
Senu had woken up.
The two of them were reunited once more on the vast rock.
Servia seemed momentarily stunned by Senu’s sudden intervention. With her mouth open, still holding Reyhald’s spear, she was confronted by Senu’s shout.
“Aren’t you tired yet? Please, just stop!”
Senu, crying out to Servia, looked completely different from the Senu from moments before. It was miraculous that the once near-death Senu had made it this far. Enya was astonished to see that he still had the strength to confront his mother, Servia.
Servia, for her part, appeared dazed.
‘Senu…!’
In that moment, Servia felt a rush of shame.
Senu wasn’t only the person she wanted to hide from the world the most, but he was also her greatest weakness. Until now, she had condemned and rejected him solely because of his leprosy. That behavior had helped maintain her status within the tribe.
But things had changed.
The sight of Servia, who had lost everything, was more pitiable than anyone else present.
Captured with Haron in Garganta and brought to Nervana Forest, Servia’s limbs had withered away to nothing. Her once-lush hair had been cut by her father, leaving very little behind. Now, she was screaming at the very limping girl she had despised, looked down upon, and scorned.
She envied her.
She had been jealous of that limping girl all along.
Senu had witnessed it all.
The son she had condemned. The son whom she had spoken as if he was dead. The son she had deemed ugly and corrupt, the one she had cast aside with her own hands.
He had seen his mother fall into such disgrace.
Servia felt like she was dying.
She was dying of shame.
Never before had she felt so exposed before the heavens. As her mind went completely blank, something inside her snapped.
Then, her defense mechanism kicked in.
Servia spat and raged, struggling not to lose her sanity. From the moment she faced Senu again, she had essentially lost her mind.
“Let go of this! Let go! You pathetic worm!”
She kicked and struck Senu with a wild fury, her voice filled with rage.
“I shouldn’t have let you live. I should have done what I had to! I still regret it. Just as I burned away all my flaws, you should have been treated the same! I will forever regret that day!”
Hot, fiery emotions seemed to erupt from Servia’s eyes.
She was already beyond reason.
“You were never my child! What does it matter that you were born from me?”
