Savage Forest - Chapter 119.1
Indeed, it was just as Fiarca had said: they were at the head of the waterfall. They had been left on a large, flat rock.
Fiarca’s group was tied to the massive tree that had grown through the cracks in the stone. The tree was enormous, large enough to cover the entire expanse of the boulder at the waterfall’s source.
However, there was something odd.
In the middle of the leaning tree’s trunk, there was a large scorch mark, likely from being struck by lightning. As a result, the tree seemed as if it might topple over at any moment, standing precariously in its place.
Fiarca, Senu, and Jahan, who were tied to the tree, looked like they were in grave danger.
‘…This is bad. If that tree falls, they’ll be crushed to death.’
Enya hurriedly looked at Silanda and spoke urgently.
“We need to get Fiarca and the others away from under that tree—”
“Shh…!”
As Silanda quickly silenced her with a sharp hiss, Enya immediately clamped her mouth shut.
“That guy is nearby.”
She didn’t need to ask who Silanda was referring to—she already knew.
‘Gernan…!’
The memory of Gernan choking her resurfaced, sending a shiver down her spine. It was horrifying. She couldn’t believe that he had tracked them all the way here. The sheer persistence and his twisted obsession were horrifying.
Enya glanced around.
She now noticed soldiers stationed around them, forming a perimeter. Even though she couldn’t see them all, she could guess that there were quite a few.
At that moment, she realized why Gernan hadn’t bothered to bind her or Silanda.
‘We’re being completely watched.’
The area was teeming with his soldiers, though she could only estimate the sheer number based on what little she could see. Gernan must have thought it unnecessary to restrain them—after all, he likely remembered Silanda only had one arm, and Enya was the frail woman he had known back in Aquilea.
Just then, Gernan’s voice rang out from a distance. He was speaking to one of his subordinates.
Instinctively, Enya shrank back, holding her breath. Silanda, too, assumed a listening posture.
Gernan stood blocking the only path up to the wide rock, flanked by several subordinates who were engaged in conversation with him. Although the distance between them made it difficult for Enya to hear every word, she could grasp what was being said.
“…We need to rescue my mother, who was kidnapped by the Garganta rebels. D*mn b*stards… but the situation has shifted. Now, we have hostages on our side as well.”
He muttered to his men.
As Enya continued listening to their exchange, she began to piece together the situation more clearly. It seemed that Yaru, leading the Garganta forces, along with a desert mercenary named Kasar, had launched an attack in search of Gernan.
With wide eyes, she glanced at Silanda, who gave her a look that confirmed her suspicions.
‘Yaru succeeded…!’
Not only had Yaru, along with Nihitan and Rigata, rescued their captured allies, but they had also gained control over the enemy forces. Now, they had come straight to the Nervana Forest to help Enya and her group.
‘Incredible… Yaru, Rigata, and even Nihitan are here in the Nervana Forest!’
Silanda seemed just as astonished by the unexpected turn of events. She scratched her cheek as she grumbled.
“We’re crossing paths with Yaru again, huh? I thought she was just another joker like Reyhald—small and always making those silly jokes.”
Enya swallowed nervously. Although she wanted to tell Silanda that Reyhald wasn’t someone to be underestimated, the situation didn’t allow her to voice it.
Enya tried to organize the situation.
‘So, that means all the different forces are converging here at this waterfall…’
What she didn’t yet know was that Piache and Kiyan were also making their way through Nervana in search of her.
Nevertheless, knowing that Yaru, Nihitan, and the formidable warrior Rigata were nearby gave her a deep sense of comfort. And, of course, the knowledge that Tarhan was somewhere in the forest, searching for her, was also a comfort.
Enya gazed at Reyhald, still lying unconscious.
“When do you think he’ll wake up?”
Reyhald, despite his quirkiness, would have been a tremendous help in combat. As Silanda examined Reyhald’s eyelids, she replied seriously.
“They gave him some kind of drug. We’ll have to be prepared for him to stay unconscious for at least a few days.”
Enya sighed deeply. With Reyhald out of commission, it was now up to her and Silanda to deal with the situation.
They quickly started figuring the situation out.
“It seems that Gernan is planning to lure Yaru’s group to the waterfall. From what I overheard, they’ve already clashed once before. Apparently, Yaru’s group has captured Servia and Haron.”
Enya’s eyes widened in shock as she looked at Silanda.
“Servia and Haron have been captured?”
Just hearing their names sent a shudder through her, as if her heart had dropped to the floor.
Silanda nodded.
“Seems like they’re finally paying for their sins.”
Having spent so many years trapped in the leper’s cave, it was only natural for Silanda to harbor deep resentment toward Servia and Haron.
She muttered as if savoring the thought.
“I just wish I could see it with my own eyes—see that woman completely broken, begging in despair. That would be enough to bring closure to my life.”
