Refusing Your Ex-Husband's Obsession: A Guide - Chapter 223
Chapter 223

—
Seo-yoon was hiding from the monsters in the gate when she opened a dimensional door.
“…Finally, the last one.”
Having confirmed that she was now S++ rank, crossing dimensions one last time would make her SS rank as well.
Her lips stretched into a smile that she couldn’t hide.
Seo-yoon only looked at her battery level, not caring about her disheveled appearance.
“Three percent left. It should still last.”
Once she became an SS-Class Guide, she would return to Korea—and that would be it. If she’d have to traverse through dimensions again, she could just recharge her phone and use it again.
Silently observing the twisting space, she paid no mind to the consequences of her actions. The cries of monsters nearby didn’t reach her ears, drowned out by her own madness.
When the dimensional door finally opened, she did not hesitate to cross over.
But something was off.
Expecting to find herself in a forest or near a city wall, she blankly stared at the expanse of blue beyond.
“I’m not going to fall from the sky, am I?”
Worried that the dimensional door might have opened at the very top of the sky, she first stuck her head in. Peeking out, she realized the blue she saw wasn’t the sky but some form of entity.
As the sound of the wind harshly hit her ears, blue flames whirled in a pattern. Then, Seo-yoon locked eyes with someone whose eyes were the epitome of verdant greenery.
Ire filled those eyes as soon as Irene spotted Seo-yoon. Pushing aside Ciel, who was clinging to her, Irene strode over with big steps.
“LEE SEO-YOON!”
Irene didn’t miss this opportunity. She had only just realized that Ciel’s powers had mysteriously changed, but more importantly, she had a hunch that she would encounter Seo-yoon as soon as all the dimensional doors would soon close.
She never thought the opportunity would present itself so quickly.
“Eek!”
Startled, Seo-yoon hurriedly tried to retract her head, but Irene was faster.
She grabbed Seo-yoon’s hair without hesitation.
“GAHH! Are you crazy? Let go of me!”
“Why? Is it my fault that a monster wave erupted!”
Having been warned by Ciel before, Seo-yoon angrily retorted and tried to grab Irene’s wrist, which was holding her hair.
Irene, with a bewildered look, replied,
“You knew, and yet you still did it?”
Ciel, who had come to Irene’s side, wrapped his arm around her shoulder, tattling like a child.
“I definitely warned her, Rin. But this girl ignored my words and ran away. Like a fool.”
“A fool?”
Seo-yoon glared at them and continued,
“So what are you going to do about it! Where’s the proof that I opened a dimensional door and caused the monster waves! Let go of me!”
Her scalp hurt so much that Seo-yoon teared up a bit. Despite her slender appearance, her grip was surprisingly strong.
“If you treat a capable Guide like me this way, I’ll tell the High Priest and His Highness the Crown Prince!”
“How would we know if you’re capable or not?”
At Irene’s words, Seo-yoon couldn’t help but laugh.
“Dare you compare yourself to me? You’d be surprised by my rank. Just, damn it! Let go!!”
“How do you know your rank?”
“It shows on my phone…”
Seo-yoon began to answer easily but then snapped her eyes open.
“Ah, geez, why should you care about that? You don’t even know what a phone is.”
Irene murmured to herself as she watched her.
“You still talk the same way.”
Irene laughed at the other woman’s familiar way of speaking, identical to the past.
Staring at the black hair she had grabbed, she then clenched her fist tightly.
“Ack! You’re going to rip my hair out!”
“Shouldn’t you be glad it isn’t your head that’s being ripped off instead?”
Irene’s voice, which had been full of intense wrath just moments ago, cooled down, sending shivers down Seo-yoon’s spine.
It was only then that she properly noticed their expressions.
Their eyes were as cold as an Esper dealing with monsters, evaluating when might be the best time to dispose of her.
“I want to see His Highness the Crown Prince. Tell him I’m here. Right now!”
“Why should I do that?”
“What?”
“That’s right. What impact would it have on the Empire if you disappear? Right?”
