Chapter 178

I had to make skin contact, and her face was the closest part.
Had I known she was an Esper, I would have guided her sooner…
Due to my prejudice, I naturally assumed Lacie was a Guide, even though I had even met female Espers in the past.
I poured a lot of energy from the start. Fortunately, our compatibility wasn’t bad, and I could see her complexion improving quickly.
“…What is this?”
Lacie was astonished, as anyone would be upon receiving guidance for the first time. I pointed to my immobile arm and said,
“Before that, there’s something you need to get used to.”
“What?”
“You need to feel the energy flowing in your body and learn to freely use your power that’s pressing down on my arm.”
“…So, it’s not a curse?”
“No. You’re an Esper, just like His Highness the Crown Prince and Duke Leopardt. To think of such a remarkable ability as a curse…”
“A-Ah… So it’s not a curse…”
Lacie smiled with relief.
“It’s not a curse… I’m so relieved.”
Indeed, to those unaware of Espers or Guides, such abilities could easily be mistaken for curses. Guides, unlike Espers, don’t show outward signs, so they might have lived as ordinary people.
Without someone to discover them, they might have lived unaware, eventually succumbing to their uncontrolled power or dying a natural death.
Feeling sorry for what she must have gone through, I gently patted her shoulder, and she looked at me with beautiful pink eyes, akin to blooming roses.
“You’ve been through a lot, but there’s nothing for you to worry about now. You’re not cursed, but chosen by the Goddess.”
At my words, Lacie burst into tears, and the telekinetic force holding my arm loosened.
“It seems like I was fated to meet you, Lady…”
Leisy continued, her voice quivering. Her story was quite harrowing.
“I was heading to the temple, but I encountered a pickpocket along the way and lost all my money. Luckily, they didn’t steal my horse and provisions, so I tried to cross the mountains. But the bridge I needed to cross was broken, so I had no choice but to descend the mountain, where I ran into a herd of cows. They chased me as if they saw me as a threat. In a panic, I rode away…”
Her lengthy tale sounded almost like a plot to bring her here. I listened to her story, occasionally patting her shoulder.
“Haa, meeting you, Lady, was truly a stroke of luck…”
After finishing her story, Lacie wiped her tears away and stood up. I finally managed to get out of bed. I felt embarrassed for staying in bed the whole time.
“Ahem, ahem. Anyway, it’s good that you know now that it’s not a curse.”
“Yes!”
“Now then. You should probably eat something first…”
As I spoke, I realized something odd. Didn’t Rose say she would watch over Lacie last night?
“Didn’t you meet a young girl?”
At my question, Leisy tilted her head.
“Actually, I don’t quite remember who was with me when I woke up here.”
“Oh, then…”
I hurried out of the room and couldn’t help but laugh at the scene before me.
Rose and Aiden were stuck to the wall, apparently bound by Lacie’s telekinesis. She might have mistaken Aiden as a threat while unconscious.
The cute couple, embracing each other in their sleep, continued to be suspended by an invisible telekinetic force. The sight of them like this made me chuckle.
“Haha, it seems your ability is no ordinary one.”
Lacie’s strong power, likely above A-Class, seemed to persist even in her sleep. I looked back at her, and she averted her eyes as soon as we made eye contact, resembling a guilty puppy turning away. Her fluffy hair made her look even more so.
I let out a sigh-like laugh.
“Prepare yourself. I’ll teach you thoroughly how to control it.”
Telekinesis, if properly harnessed, could be an incredible power, but if not, it can cause all sorts of problems. I felt it was my duty to stick by her until she mastered it.
At my words, she drooped like a defeated puppy. Unable to hold back, I burst into hearty laughter.
