She took his hand and changed the subject.

“It seems my memory is not perfect.”

“Yes.”

“Why did I deal with the devilkin myself 200 years ago?”

From the look on his face, it seemed he had dealt with a corrupted Yekarna more than once. At the very least, he had likely helped her several times, and possibly more frequently than she had anticipated.

This led to an unavoidable question: why did Yekarna, who was unaffected by the purification ritual of the temple, handle the devilkins personally?

Certainly, the devilkins invading the middle realm should be dealt with, but it could have been done by subordinates. While a few public executions might be staged for morale, it would be more practical to give orders and let others handle it thereafter.

As the Empress of the Empire, Yekarna commanded numerous knights and had the means to avoid the corruption of demon poison if she wished. If she chose to face them herself, there must have been a compelling reason behind it.

Bliss, meeting her gaze, smirked mischievously as if he had just thought of something.

“Well, if I tell you everything at once, it might feel like I was thrown away after getting eaten.”

His accurate observation made her flinch. It was true, she had planned to leave the Empire once she dropped out of the academy.

‘Actually, I might not be able to leave this country until I’ve paid off my debts to the underworld.’

In any case, she was planning to escape. Though Bliss claimed he had no intention of seeking revenge, people’s feelings can change easily. His anger could rekindle the hatred from their past lives. His promise not to seek revenge might just be a lie to catch her off guard.

After all, poison tends to taste sweet, so people will drink it.

“I’ll give you the information one piece at a time so you don’t run away.”

Bliss said with a grin, pulling away in a deliberately irritating manner.

Regina got tired of his actions. It was as if he had already known her well from their past life. She had no real choice but to comply, though she decided to ask him a bit.

“What about Lennon and Prince Iskanda?”

“You noticed that Concubine Nyx’s is the Master of the Magic Tower. They were both looking for Your Majesty.”

Bliss responded calmly, without a hint of surprise. Although he wasn’t entirely sure, his confirmation revealed that the Master of the Magic Tower was indeed Prince Iskanda. Given that they were searching for her, it seemed they were aware of Yekarna’s unique resistance to the purification ritual.

‘In the worst-case scenario, even if I get information from Bliss…’

She was silently calculating the odds in her mind when Bliss continued.

“So, I knocked one out and stabbed the other.”

“…What?”

Regina couldn’t believe her ears. The pronunciation was clear, and the content was unmistakable, but her brain refused to accept it, blaming her hearing instead.

“What did you do?”

“I put the fox out cold since he was useful, but I gave Concubine Nyx a stab. Did I do well?”

Bliss answered with a bright smile. It was one thing to deal with the former, but to cause a stabbing incident in the middle of the palace? Regina’s disbelief was clear as she looked at him, and his expression changed.

“Did you want everyone to get along, and I ruined it by being insensitive?”

Despite his charming smile, his eyes were devoid of amusement. Regina quickly shook her head, feeling a chill run down her spine. Having to deal with three men, including Iskanda and Lennon, was overwhelming. Just Bliss was already a disaster; adding Iskanda and Lennon into the mix would be catastrophic.

“No, you did well. But it must have been difficult to handle Prince Iskanda, the Master of the Magic Tower…”

“No matter how skilled a wizard is, they can’t match a knight in close combat.”

Bliss winked cheerfully. Indeed, wizards are strong at long range, while knights have the advantage up close. Still, the fact that Bliss had stabbed Nyx without hesitation.

‘I thought his temperament had softened compared to before, but it seems I was wrong.’

He had claimed he wouldn’t seek revenge and appeared gentler than in their previous life, which led her to let her guard down. Regina now regretted her complacency and tightened her focus again.

‘Prince Iskanda… I hope he’s alright.’

If a murder were to occur in the palace, especially one involving someone as significant as the Master of the Magic Tower, it would cause a huge uproar.

He likely wouldn’t have done anything too extreme; the person would be severely incapacitated but not in life-threatening danger. Bliss would have enough reason to keep it that way.

Regina could only hope that this was the case.

‘What could he mean by saying there’s a use for Lennon?’

She had a bad feeling about this. It seemed like Count Hartmann, Lennon’s reincarnation, might be used by Bliss in a one-sided manner. But that was a problem for Lennon himself to deal with.

With her own issues at hand, she had enough to worry about. Pushing thoughts of Prince Iskanda and Lennon out of her mind, she decided to focus on her own survival.

“You said you’d tell me one thing at a time.”

“Yes.”

“What exactly does ‘one time’ mean?”

She asked because she should ask about the specific meaning of ‘one time’. His usually clear green eyes grew cloudy.

“What do you think it means?”

Regina had a suspicion about the answer but was afraid to say it out loud.

“Shall I show you with my body from now on? My Regina.”

His finger slid slowly down her spine, starting from the nape of her neck and moving past her back to below. Regina flinched at the touch. She felt a rise in heat and her breath became shallow.

Yekarna had always enjoyed s*x. To avoid repeating the same mistakes, Regina had kept away from such activities altogether. Once she started, she felt she might not be able to stop. She worried that crossing that line could lead her back to a debaucherous life.

‘It’s not like it’s new. I’ve had more than enough in my past life.’
