My Past Life is Riddled With Many Sins - Chapter 84
The pain that had felt like it would tear her body apart had disappeared. She could tell that the demonic poison that had been eroding her flesh was completely gone.
Though she felt as if her muscles were sore from being thoroughly beaten and her lower half felt unnaturally stretched, it was nothing compared to the previous pain from the demonic poison.
‘I really was purified.’
It wasn’t the priest’s purifying ritual… it was so absurd that she couldn’t even laugh. It seemed like her situation was indeed quite fantastical, but there were more pressing issues to focus on.
There were gaps in her memory.
The records in the Emperor’s secret archives, her body that resisted purification, and Bliss, who knew how to stop the demonic poison.
All these facts pointed to a single clue. In her past life as Yekarna, she had confronted devilkin. But for some unknown reason, she currently has no memory of that.
If Bliss hadn’t arrived in time, her body, which resisted purification, might have been consumed by the demonic poison and driven her mad. Bliss must have come to prevent such a disaster.
Though she should be grateful, she felt a contradictory sense of unease, as if she had been devoured by him unexpectedly.
She needed to fill the gaps in her memory first.
Bliss was a suitable source of information. He clearly knew something about the matter and was aware of her true identity. He was the only person from her past life with whom she could have an open conversation.
The problem was whether he was willing to help her.
She had no choice but to ask him.
“What do you want?”
“What do you mean?”
“Now that you knew I was Yekarna Barrett Villarperosa Lee Enfield, what would you want?
She was curious. Was it revenge, resentment, or perhaps both?
She awaited his response like a condemned sinner awaiting judgment.
“What do you think I might want to do?”
Instead of answering, he threw the question back at her, staring intently. Regina felt unsettled. Was this a test to determine how many times she would be struck?
She found herself trapped in a vicious cycle. If she called out too little, she might be punished more severely for contempt, while calling out too much might be seen as her own choice, leading to the exact amount of punishment. She was left to navigate this dilemma carefully.
If she expressed resentment and a desire for revenge, it might be interpreted as acknowledging that her fault was indeed significant, leading to both resentment and revenge being meted out.
Conversely, if she only expressed resentment, he might think her faults were such that revenge was warranted as well. Settling on the more neutral option of revenge seemed like the safest bet.
“Of course, confinement.”
“Revenge… what?”
“It’s an unfulfilled dream from my past life.”
Bliss added with a grin, though it was unclear whether he was serious or joking.
Confinement, unfulfilled love. It might have been meant as a joke, but Regina, who had nearly faced confinement in her past life, couldn’t laugh it off entirely.
…He must be joking, right?
“So, what about revenge?”
“Instead of that, I’d rather spend more time rolling around in bed with you,.
Bliss said, extending his arms to embrace her.
Without waiting for consent, he pulled her close, resting his chin on her head and rubbing his face against her neck and shoulders. His actions left her dumbfounded.
“No revenge?”
“No. Maybe if I were to kidnap and confine you, but…”
His casual tone was unsettling. After a moment’s hesitation, she asked.
“Aren’t you resentful?”
“I’m deeply resentful.”
He said, planting a kiss on her head. The answer came without hesitation, causing her heart to sink.
“Then why…”
“Because you’re even more lovable.”
Despite her stunned silence at his sudden and cheesy declaration, Bliss continued to indulge his own desires. He held her tightly, breathing deeply, rubbing his face against the line where her neck and shoulders met, and adjusting his hug around her waist and legs, fitting them together perfectly.
As if finding fulfillment in these actions.
Regina remained rigid, struggling to process Bliss’s unexpected confession. The idea that someone could be ‘more lovable’ than deeply resentful…seemed impossible to understand.
She felt as if she were on the verge of being slapped. She wondered if she had ingested poison.
“Didn’t you want to kill me?”
“Of course, I did. What man wouldn’t think that if his woman was sleeping around this and that? Oh, and it wasn’t just men but women too.”
It was true that Regina had been involved with other men, but she hadn’t been with any women. Bliss’s comment about Yekarna being promiscuous was accurate, and she had no defense against it.
“So this time, make it me.”
He tightened his grip around the back head, pulling her closer to him. His face buried in her neck as he continued.
“Not Grand Duke Eldenberg Duke, not Nyx, not Lennon—just me.”
She couldn’t say anything to his desperate whisper. The raw emotion in his voice was almost too much to bear, tightening her insides with a painful, bittersweet sensation.
“Schuyler.”
Reading Bliss’s name in the tone of the country where his grandmother had lived was pronounced ‘Schuyler’. So Schuyler was a term of endearment from his family.
“Oh, it’s been so long.”
“I….”
Bliss placed his hand over her mouth and then kissed it.
She was being silenced by his touch. But looking back, it doesn’t seem to look like just a kiss to the back of the hand….
