Regina blinked up at the ceiling. She had dreamt of the past. A dream featuring Lennon.

Whether all those reincarnated with memories of their past lives experience this, Regina couldn’t say. But her dreams are often tied back to her past life.

Dreaming, for her, was akin to revisiting Yekarna’s life. Given that Yekarna’s life was filled with sins, the dreams usually left Regina in turmoil. It was torture to face the irreversible wrongs she had committed.

Today’s dream, however, had been more serene so she was less tired.

‘Thank goodness it was Lennon from our better days.’

Had it been the Lennon from their cataclysmic breakdown, she would have suffered an emotional toll too.

“I wonder if Lennon has reincarnated too.”

There was no telling. He might not have yet, or perhaps he had been so much earlier and died before Regina’s birth. Or he might be alive in the same era but significantly older than Regina.

‘Lennon as an older man…’

A handsome middle-age? A handsome elderly? It was hard to imagine. The image of a cunning younger man was too strong at him. But the thought of a charming, older figure wasn’t bad either….

Still, it was best to avoid him. Yekarna had wronged Lennon deeply too. Regina felt she couldn’t face those consequences.

As the bell signaling the wake-up time rang throughout the dormitory, Regina snapped back to the present and hopped out of bed. She had no time to dawdle. There were classes to attend.

Midway through getting dressed, Regina paused.

‘But why did Lennon appear in my dream out of the blue?’

Could it be a foreshadowing to him appearing in her life….

‘It can’t be. Absolutely not.’

The thought of adding Lennon to the mix, on top of Friedrich and Skyler, was a nightmare. She was afraid of jinxing it, turning thoughts into reality. Fortunately, she had managed to evade Friedrich’s reincarnation, ensuring they wouldn’t cross paths again…

Facing anyone even just once as someone who committed many sins was stressful. She didn’t want to see them again. Not just Lennon, but anyone.

‘And yet, the more I wish against it, the more likely it seems to happen.’

Regina hurriedly shook her head trying to shake off this ominous premonition. However, once attached to her spine, it does not easily fade.

Columns of pure white marble soared up to a dome ceiling of immense height. Intricately carved angels basking in the downpour of light, glowing sacredly.

In this seemingly otherworldly pure world, where no impurity seemed permitted, the presence of a man at its heart rendered the already surreal atmosphere even more ethereal.

His appearance, embodying divinity itself, made the temple knight knelt on one knee, reporting with utmost respect.

“We have confirmed movements within the dark guild.”

The man tilted his head slightly. The triple crown resting upon his fine black hair reflecting the golden sunlight in dazzling brilliance.

Despite knowing it was inappropriate to ask, the temple knight couldn’t suppress his curiosity. Why would such a revered person concern himself with the affairs of the underworld? Surely, there must be a deep reason beyond the understanding of mere mortals.

There was certainly no doubt about it. This person might behave incomprehensibly at times, but this person is….

“I must become a student at the Imperial Academy. Find a way.”

The temple knight, looking up at the man with absolute trust, doubted his own ears. It was such a shocking statement. Does this mean leaving the temple?

“Your Holiness, how could…..”

Unintentionally speaking out, the temple knight snapped to attention under the piercing gaze of silver eyes looking down upon him. What have I done! Surely, there must be a reason beyond this foolish mind’s understanding.

The temple knight bowed deeply in submission in the presence of such overwhelming authority. The Pope’s will is absolute.

After the knight left, the Pope, who was alone in the quiet of the chamber, reached into his robe and pulled out an object. It was a dagger, bladeless, with only its hilt remaining. Plain, unadorned, and made of cheap material, he ran his thumb over it, thinking about a woman.

She was probably relieved she had escaped him, unaware she was still within his grasp.

To think she would voluntarily enter the storm’s eye at the academy, where Skyler served as the Dean and Iskanda was a student, not to mention the attention of Lennon and himself. Was it instinct or fate that drove her to such a place?

“Enjoy your brief peace, Yekarna.”

We shall meet again soon.

As a student at the academy, Regina’s routine was straightforward.

She attended lectures during class hours and worked on assignments from 4 PM onwards during her free time. The remainder of her free time was spent practicing swordsmanship and reading books when leisure permitted. She opted for academic growth over idling as it seemed more purposeful, given she had entered the academy.

She didn’t engage in social activities, but this didn’t inconvenience her in any way.

Overall, life wasn’t so bad. She gained new knowledge and enjoyed the meals provided. However, not everything was good.

Some classes left her feeling uneasy, especially the theology lectures.

“The achievements of the Great Empress Yekarna cannot be denied, but from a religious perspective, this particular action cannot be condoned. If only the Empress hadn’t extended her ‘evil hand’ towards Grand Duke Eidenberg, allowing him to continue his intended path in the priesthood…”

Evil hand.

‘Am I some evil? Extended an ‘evil hand’ to a person?’
