My Contract Husband is Going Crazy Because of My Iron Wall - Chapter 59.1
Chapter 59.1
Held in Reinhardt’s arms, I entered the bedroom and looked up. Pink magic stones, once my tears, tumbled from his clothes.
“Oh my, that’s quite a fortune.”
I chuckled, managing a joke despite everything. Reinhardt let out a breathy laugh, almost a sigh. He gently laid me on the bed and examined me closely.
“Are you hurt?”
“No, I’m fine.”
“Weren’t you scared?”
“Terrified.”
At my words, Reinhardt’s hand clenched the blanket.
“I’m so sorry. I should have protected you better.”
“It’s not your fault, Reinhardt. How could you have known someone would drug my carriage?”
“There must be a spy in the mansion.”
His blue eyes glinted sharply as if already searching for the culprit.
“I’ll find them and have their head.”
“Have their head? Isn’t that a bit much… No, go ahead. Off with their head.”
I grinned playfully again, and he gave a helpless chuckle.
“I thought you’d left without me on purpose.”
“No, I was kidnapped.”
“I see. Well, if you ever disappear again without my knowledge, I’ll know better than to assume anything other than kidnapping. I’ll just focus on getting you back.”
His voice was gentle, yet a shiver ran down my spine.
“Are you hungry?”
His continued tenderness, as if trying to soothe my unease, quickly dispelled the chilling feeling.
“The kidnappers fed me well, so I’m alright. I’d rather bathe, though.”
“I’ll call the maids.”
Reinhardt rang the bell, and the maids soon appeared. I accompanied them to the adjoining bathroom and sank into the tub.
Then, I heard his voice.
“Wife, are you there?”
He usually kept his distance while I bathed, so it was odd to hear him hovering outside the bathroom door.
“Yes! Why?”
It felt strangely awkward talking to him while I was bathing, even with the door between us.
“I was worried.”
He was understandably concerned, given my recent ordeal. I self-consciously covered myself with bubbles, trying to sound casual.
“I’m fine.”
“Is the water temperature alright?”
“Yes, it’s fine.”
“And the tub isn’t too small?”
“No, it’s quite spacious.”
‘Why is he asking such things? He must be incredibly worried.’
Just then, the maids, who had been nervously glancing at each other since Reinhardt’s arrival, blurted out, “We’ll, uh, we’ll just leave you be!” and promptly fled.
‘Wait, what are they imagining? Even if they leave, Reinhardt would never come in here!’
I stared around the bathroom in dismay. While all the other necessities were provided, there were no clothes. No clothes! I hadn’t worried about it before, as the maids always brought my clothes when I was finished.
However, to reach the dressing room, I had to go through the bedroom… What was I to do?
‘I need at least a robe.’
“Reinhardt.”
“Yes, wife.”
“I’m currently stranded in the bathroom, naked.”
“….Pardon?”
“So, please, don’t misunderstand, but could you leave a robe outside the door?”
“W-wife…”
Although I couldn’t see Reinhardt’s face, only his silhouette, I could tell he was dumbfounded. His voice trembled.
“You have a remarkable talent for driving a man mad.”
“I know. I’ve been told I’m quite the handful.”
“That’s not quite what I meant… Anyway, I’ll go find a robe.”
Finishing his words, Reinhardt practically fled from the bathroom door. I finished my bath, and his silhouette reappeared.
“I couldn’t find yours, so… I brought one of mine.”
“That’s fine. Just leave it outside.”
His silhouette retreated.
I quickly wrapped a towel around myself, slipped out of the bathroom, snatched the robe, and put it on.
“Hmm… this is rather large.”
Looking in the bathroom mirror, I saw that the robe slipped off my shoulders, almost exposing me. If I bent over even slightly, things could get embarrassing.
‘Just think of it as wearing something revealing.’
A robe and a revealing dress were hardly the same, but I had to tell myself that. There was no other choice!
After this pep talk, I clutched the robe tightly and ventured out of the bathroom. Reinhardt was sitting facing the wall as if anticipating the awkwardness.
“I won’t look. Go change into your sleepwear.”
His voice was calm, but the tips of his ears, peeking through his hair, were red. Seeing that made me even more self-conscious.
