My Contract Husband is Going Crazy Because of My Iron Wall - Chapter 55.2
Chapter 55.2
“Yeah. He missed her.”
“Shut up! I wasn’t missing anyone, and I wasn’t sulking! I just liked that half-breed’s massages, that’s all!”
Larboris, who had been in cat form, suddenly transformed into the boy I had seen in my dream. Wait a minute. I’d dreamt of him in this form, a form I’d never seen before…
That meant my dream was definitely precognitive.
“Larboris, have you seen any other humans besides us? A woman with silver hair and red eyes?”
“What’s that? Never seen her.”
Unlike in my dream, Larboris spoke of Roxanne dismissively. We must have arrived before her. When would the events of my dream unfold?
“Wife, perhaps you should tell them about your dream.”
I nodded at Reinhardt’s suggestion and told the squishies and Larboris about my dream, revealing my precognitive ability.
“So, before Empress Roxanne arrives, let’s escape this barrier together.”
My words startled not only the squishies and Larboris but Reinhardt as well.
“How are they supposed to leave the barrier? I suppose the squishies could manage, but taking Larboris with us would…”
Reinhardt trailed off, his mouth opening and closing wordlessly. He clearly wanted to say we’d have to share breath, just like we did.
“What’s the big deal? I did it with Reinhardt, so it can’t be that hard.”
A young cat would be easy enough to kiss. Reinhardt, however, seemed to have misunderstood. His face darkened considerably.
“Sharing breath with me was that awful?”
“No! That’s not what I meant. I meant that since I’ve already done it with a handsome, well-built man like Reinhardt, kissing a little cutie who wouldn’t make me the least bit flustered shouldn’t be a problem.”
“Ah. I see.”
Reinhardt’s expression softened slightly, only to darken again as he pointed at Larboris.
“But that Tartar is male, isn’t he?”
“Yes. A young male cat. Or a young boy in his current human form.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, but I don’t want to leave the barrier yet. It’s too dangerous out there for a little guy like me.”
The squishies jiggled their gelatinous bodies in agreement with Larboris.
“Outside is dangerous. Humans will kill us.”
“Yeah. Humans are scary… They always try to kill us… Reinhardt.”
The three Tartars fixed accusing stares on Reinhardt. He responded coldly.
“Exterminating you, minions of the Demon King, is humanity’s eternal duty.”
“Boo… That’s mean. We didn’t do anything wrong.”
“Yeah. We just wanted to live with the humans, but they chased us away.”
“Nonsense. You attacked us first.”
“No! Reinhardt, you don’t know what you’re talking about! We’ve lived three hundred years longer than you, so we know better!”
“Yeah! Humans attacked us first, and that’s what started the war between humans and the Demon Lord! Reinhardt!”
According to ‘My Contract Husband is a Little Strange’, the squishies were right.
Humanity had been taught a distorted version of history. The war between humans and demons had, in fact, been started by humans. The poor Tartars had been left behind to suffer when the demons were forced to leave the human realm because of the peace treaty…
“Let’s discuss that later. It’s not important right now. Larboris, tell me how you plan to deal with Empress Roxanne if you don’t leave the barrier.”
The truth, whatever it may be, was less important than their immediate survival, so I steered the conversation back to the main issue.
Larboris spoke nonchalantly.
“Just stop that Roxanne person from crossing the barrier.”
“We don’t know how Roxanne crossed the barrier to get here. Wait a minute…”
“And when you reach maturity, you can kill Reinhardt Erestein without difficulty?”
“No. The Demon King wouldn’t want that.”
“I don’t care what Belloa wants. You’ll do as I say.”
“Yes.”
In my dream, Larboris had initially refused Roxanne’s demands, but then his eyes had glazed over, and he’d submitted to her will. Did Roxanne possess some kind of power to control others, like my ability to see the future?
“I think I know how Empress Roxanne got here.”
After a moment of thought, I turned to Reinhardt. “And I think I know how to stop her from coming here again.”
My gaze shifted to Larboris.
