Marriage with a Suspiciously Demure Husband - Chapter 112.1
Chapter 112.1
Fay gasped, catching Angela as she suddenly collapsed.
“Ugh, you’re heavy.”
She couldn’t give up now, not after coming this far. Grumbling, Fay hoisted Angela fully onto her shoulder and quickly muttered an incantation before anyone could appear.
A magic circle, imbued with an ominous energy, formed beneath her feet.
It was a transportation spell woven with the dark magic used only by followers, a power no ordinary human could wield.
With that, Fay and Angela vanished.

Just before midnight, the bedroom was calm and quiet. I traced the lines of Kairos’s hand for a long time.
“Kairos.”
“Yes.”
While I could be happy simply letting things be, there was still more to do. For us to become stronger, for our future. I pulled my hand away, sat him up on the bed, and stood. Kairos started to rise with me, so I gently pressed on his shoulder.
“Wait a moment. I have something to show you.”
I went to the study and retrieved a ring Mrs. Tene had given me. She’d said all of the previous Duke and Duchess’s belongings had been burned, but this one piece remained. I’d heard it was a gift given to Mrs. Tene while she served them.
Apparently, there had once been a group of worshippers who followed the former Duke and Duchess. Except for the head butler and head maid, they had all been found and removed, leaving none remaining now.
“They’re all dead now, leaving only Dello and me. If you’re uneasy, Mistress, I’ll leave. I only remained here to see the Master alive. If you are happy, my Lord, my purpose for existence is fulfilled.”
Hearing her say that, I couldn’t bring myself to speak further.
“If you trust me, Mistress, I can do anything. You said you have a special ability, illusion magic. You can use it on me.”
To prove her loyalty and that she hadn’t participated in the worship rituals, Mrs. Tene allowed me to verify it through hypnosis. After that, I placed my trust in her and received this ring.
Ring in hand, I returned to the bedroom and sat facing Kairos. He looked at me questioningly.
“Kairos.”
“Yes.”
“There’s something I want to tell you. I want you to be honest after you hear it.”
“….”
Kairos’s eyes flickered with confusion. Just as when I’d held his cheek earlier, I saw the tension in his broad shoulders.
“I can promise you this: no matter what your answer is, I won’t leave.”
“…Hazel.”
Slowly, I opened my hand, revealing the ring to Kairos. His gaze dropped, and his face hardened.
“Why do you have that…?”
“Mrs. Tene gave it to me.”
He made a move to stand, so I clasped his hand tightly with mine.
“I heard the former Duchess gave it to Mrs. Tene.”
“….”
“Kairos.”
“Hazel, I’m so sorry.”
Unable to face me, Kairos finally stood. As he turned to leave the bedroom, I embraced him from behind. His body stiffened.
“We have to do this, Kairos.”
“Hazel.”
“I’ve chosen to trust you, to embrace your wounds as well.” That’s why we needed to talk.
“….”
“This isn’t impulsive. I didn’t say I love you lightly, based on a fleeting feeling.”
I would start first. My suspicions about him, my visit to the warehouse, and my conversation with Mrs. Tene revealed everything without hiding a single thing. Even if tonight was a night of unending hurt, it was alright.
We didn’t leave the bed until quite late the next day, still in the same clothes from our conversation, holding each other close, talking endlessly.
“Your eyes are swollen.”
Kairos gently touched the skin beneath my eyes. His touch seemed to hold a myriad of emotions: regret, gratitude, tenderness, and dozens more.
“…I’m alright now.”
I had cried all night listening to his story, and even now, it felt like tears were on the verge of spilling again. I sniffled, and Kairos pulled me closer, cradling the back of my head.
Nestled within his broad embrace, I burrowed deeper.
“Don’t cry.”
“I said I’m not crying anymore.”
“…It still feels like a dream.”
“It’s not a dream. Thank you for not running away, for telling me.”
Kairos hugged me again.
“I won’t hurt you again. I won’t wound you.”
“I won’t either.”
I closed my eyes, giggling as Kairos kissed my forehead and the bridge of my nose. Like this, it felt as though we were completely back in Ferarium. No, it felt even closer than back then, now that I knew his true self.
Kairos continued to stroke my cheek. Smiling, I met his gaze, capturing the ruby depths of my husband’s eyes.
“Hazel.”
“Yes?”
“Should we just rest today?”
