Sensing my presence, he looked up from his book. His red eyes gazed at me, his expression unreadable.
“What are you thinking about? Come here,” he said, his voice and gesture as inviting as ever, just like two days ago.
‘Maybe he thought I was just busy, not deliberately avoiding him.’
I obediently climbed into bed and sat beside him.
Albert put down his book, turned toward me, and rested his chin on his hand. His robe slipped slightly off his shoulder, revealing his toned chest.
…His robe seemed looser than usual.
“You’ve been acting strange these past two days.”
I flinched, then smiled sheepishly.
“I was being strange, wasn’t I? But there was a reason.”
“Hmm, I’ve been thinking about what that reason might be.”
As Albert said this, he lowered his gaze. His long eyelashes fluttered like butterfly wings.
His eyes, facing mine, were the color of autumn leaves.
Albert’s hand brushed through my hair.
“Did I do something wrong?”
His voice was soft, muffled by the strands of my white hair.
Albert lightly kissed my hair.
“Something wrong? Of course not!”
Realizing Albert had misunderstood, I quickly responded.
Albert blinked, then pressed his forehead against mine.
“Then, are you tired of me?”
He asked playfully, but there was sincerity in his question.
…Just two days had apparently been more impactful on Albert than I had thought.
“How could I ever be tired of you, Albert?”
I deliberately called his name, caressing his cheek.
I hoped he felt my unchanged affection.
Relieved by my words, he seemed reassured, even though I hadn’t explained everything yet.
He smiled gently, his eyes softening.
“Then why were you acting unlike yourself?”
So, he had noticed.
“I was preparing for our anniversary.”
“…For our anniversary?”
He seemed taken aback, and there was a brief silence.
“Why would you need to avoid me for an anniversary?”
It seemed he still couldn’t quite grasp the concept.
…Right, I didn’t really need to avoid him.
I confessed my selfish reason honestly.
“I wanted it to be a surprise. You know, surprises are more exciting and fun! Aren’t you pleasantly shocked?”
Of course, this didn’t work at all.
“I care more about seeing your face than any surprise, Jung-in.”
Without batting an eye, Albert lightly kissed my neck.
“Surprises are nice, but not seeing you isn’t.”
His low voice and smile were more intimidating than expected.
…Okay, let’s make this the last surprise.
“I felt a bit hurt.”
But it seemed Albert wasn’t finished yet.
“Don’t you think so, Jung-in?”
His fingers traced my jawline as he brushed my hair back. Albert grasped my chin and slightly lowered his lips.
“It felt like you were fine not seeing me.”
Albert kissed me softly, then pulled away. At a breath’s distance, he whispered.
“It drove me crazy.”
Then he kissed me fiercely, as if he wanted to devour me. His lips, tongue, and breath were so hot they made my whole body burn. The sound of our tongues intertwining and saliva mingling echoed around us.
The robe that had barely clung to Albert was long gone. As he climbed on top of me, he paused for a moment.
“It seems like I need to exercise more.”
His playful tone made it clear what kind of exercise he meant.
I got the strong feeling it would take a while for our ‘conversation’ to end.
I placed a finger on Albert’s lips, stopping him just before he kissed me again.
“Wait, Albert, we…”
Albert raised an eyebrow.
“We?”
“How about we change the location?”
Albert frowned slightly, then gently bit my finger.
As he slowly lowered my hand, he placed his hands on my shoulders and looked down at me.
“So you can still think about other things right now…”
“……”
“I guess I’ve been too lenient.”
That’s not it.
“I need to push harder.”
That’s really not it!
Knowing Albert was someone who meant what he said, I became desperate.
This was my only chance!
“I decorated the tower for our anniversary! I told Adela we’d be gone for two days, and I even called Alexander to look after Joos!”
Seeing things were going wrong, I blurted out everything I had planned like a rapid-fire rap.
“…Two days?”
“Yes, just the two of us for two days.”
“Two days?”
Finally, Albert paused at my words.
